To lift this a little higher and maybe above the clouds of iniquity : Specifically, this touches on aesthetic design of hair in harmony with things like social impressions. The finer points of the woven beauty of artful storytelling in context of the perceived whole.

DA2 had good hair? LOL Nope. But I guess everyone has their own preferences.
I'm liking what I see so far with the hair; the quality is better than what I have seen with their last few games. I just hope that all the good hairstyles aren't only available for NPC exclusive use. I'm getting slightly hopeful that we won't be stuck with wax helmets again, and I'm glad there will be at least one hairstyle that isn't mannish looking (prays for more).

This is acceptable hair, surely? And in case 'not-Brevnau' is passing, does not look like a man. ,.-~*´¨¯¨`*·~-.¸-(_MEA_)-,.-~*´¨¯¨`*·~-.¸
Acceptable? Yes. But, DA:O had better and more varied.
Until I'm proved wrong, I still think "good" hair and the FB3 engine don't get along very well. Bio had, according to the studio, five years under they development belt. There are "good" looking hair styles all over the net yet Bio comes up with "acceptable"?
There must be a reason why aliens are effectively bald and humans are given basic hair styles. Also, I'm sure the studio is well aware of the Hair Threads and know what the fans want. Very puzzling.
If you mean better as texture wise, you're wrong by a long shot, since DAO's hairs texture wise weren't really good. Cora's and Liam's look quite nice in this regards. Style wise, it's subjective, but even if has little to do with Frostbite and more to do with Bioware's artist. I am a bit more worried for the siblings since Scott's looked nice in some shots and bad in others.

^ The thing is, DAO'S hair texture/style were good for DAO! They fit in, looked natural in DAO. Same applies to DA2, that had a soft/cartoony visual by choice and the hairs options are compative. But DAI and MEA (it seems) with their HQ textures and realist style. You've humans with pores and this for hair: It doesn't look as it belongs. It cheapens the game. BTW someone mentioned Morrigan. Yes, her hair, as does Sera's, moves. She is an important NPC. As are probably Cora and Liam. They aren't really an indication of what we'll get on chargen, but as an example of BioWare's best. If their best is mediocre, we can expect worse for us.

I disagree on DAO's being good for its time, and while MEA (at least the two human squadmates) aren't top of the line, they do look good, they aren't mediocre. We'll have to agree to disagree on this issue.

I think people are mistaking DAO with DAO + mods, because I'm not entirely sure where this awesome hair in Origins actually is.
As for Andromeda, I'm hoping for a bald option, with some solid beards as well.

As for Andromeda, I'm hoping for a bald option, with some solid beards as well. Just being able to steal Morrigan's hairstyle via mods helped quite a bit. And in DA2 it was all about poaching default Hawke's hair. Hopefully we'll be able to do the same in MEA

All my characters had the vanilla hair. I used some HR texture pack years later when I replayed DAO quickly, though. People are mistaking good for its game with impressive compared to all. I'm not calling DAO/DA2 teh best hair in the industry or even by their time, but saying that they were good and fitting for their game. DAO/DA2 also had more to offer in style than bald and balding.

I'm hoping MEA's is as good but until we see the CC of course we won't know for sure but based on what's been revealed I'm hopeful that it'll improve on DAI and I believe it will.

Hair is the most important element in a game and it's worth throwing up a fuss for. More important than the story and gameplay.

Just arrived on the forum so apologies if I am beating a dead horse. There seems to be the distinction between good hair mechanics and good hair aesthetics. I never had a problem with any of the hair from the DA games. The technical aspect never mattered much to me as long as it was subjectively not an awful hairstyle. That being said, the subjective part matters a great deal. I would love to see a poll regarding whether people subjectively think Cora's hair is aesthetically acceptable, game mechanics aside. Personally, I believe her hair is so butt ugly that it could be a deal breaker for any romance. If Tali had removed her helmet and had that hair I believe it would have killed many a romance. Every time Cora came on the screen in the trailer I found myself staring at that hair and shaking my head. The default Scott Ryder character appears to have his hair parted in exactly same spot. I genuinely never thought I would find myself ranting about a hair style, but that is how bad this is in my opinion. If there is a method for modding that hair on x-box I will need to find out, stat. For those of you who like her hairstyle, I envy you. I wish I could look past it. Maybe I'll be able to when we meet and get to know the character, but for now that hairstyle is all she is. Okay, rant over.

Hair is the most important element in a game and it's worth throwing up a fuss for. More important than the story and gameplay. If you really think that's the most important in a game you are ignorant and should play Sims for the rest of your life Also; I think that people should not complain so much. Even if BW would do it 'right' in your eyes there is always someone who whines (because that's now what it is). There is nothing you can change now so accept it and move on with your life.

We've been complaining about it since DA:O. Became so much worse in DA:I when EA switched to the FB engine. Look at the "best" they could do five+ years later for Kelly Sloane.... ridiculous, imo.
I get the feeling that hair is the last item on their agenda before tackling lip syncing, facial expressions and bug swatting.

In fairness though this is only Bioware's second game on the engine and the game's not even out yet and the Sloane Kelly hair is just one hairstyle. Let's just wait until the game's out before we start criticizing it and hope that Bioware have learnt from the experience of DAI and made the hair better.Early indicators suggest to me that they have but this is only my opinion. I'm well aware that opinion could change once the games out and I'm willing to accept it. But I'm not going to criticize the game before there is a reason too.

Kelly Sloan isn't necessarily a major character (like Liam and Cora, which hairs in terms of texture looks much better) and they're not final yet. I'll just the whole hair quality at release.

@ Milady He was being sarcastic. Because hair is a superficial thing in a game and we are shallow to demand quality for it, when gameplay/plot>>> As if we couldn't care about all those things as well. BW's suckage/limit hair talent is also what stops them from creating aliens with it.

Also; I think that people should not complain so much. Even if BW would do it 'right' in your eyes there is always someone who whines (because that's now what it is). There is nothing you can change now so accept it and move on with your life. This part of the forum is devoted to an upcoming game. It's a place where people express their hopes, worries, critiques, and encouragement for the devs (nastiness, vitriol, and other things too, but lets not go into that). If it operated as you suggest we would only have 2 threads-- one titled "News: Please Don't Express Your Opinions Because you Can't Change Anything With Them Anyway" and "Twitter: No Personal Opinions Desired we Only Want Cold Hard Facts". I don't think anybody here claimed that the game is going to be unplayable because of the hair. We are here to express opinions about the topic in the title of the thread. If the topic is not important to you just don't look into the thread. I, for instance, think romances are a waste of time and I couldn't care less about how well developed they are, but they are clearly important to some people, and who am I to tell them they're wrong. I simply don't post in the romance threads. Instead, I come here and talk about hair .

I'm surprised at how much I care about hair in a video game. I sure hope there's a huge variety, and less focus on buzz cuts for females. I like Cora's style, but it's a very high-maintenance one with needing frequent trims. Not sure how often they get to the Nexus to take care of hair.

Okay, rant over. Hmm......I'm not sure it's a deal breaker for me, since my favourite romance in DA:I is Cass, and she has way worse hair than Cora. But it *is* an influencing factor. However, I think that is partly because it looks so much like the concept art for Miranda in ME:2. Which screams *Miranda 2.0* Honestly though.....I'm not sure how I feel about this. Or whether I should take it as a clear indication that once again, Male and Female PC's are going to have to share hair styles. What a depressing thought!
