I'll ask one of the devs, see if it's still in progress maybe get some more details on the physics as well... It's worth to ask.

Are physics options like hair textures available on the consoles? I thought those were tight down to pc graphics cards. I don't know specifics. But I think Liam would kill to have these hair and those natural movements.

Bioware has never been fantastic with hair, and I don't play their games for fantastic hair. Frankly, it's just not on the list of stuff I'm eager about.

I would be happy with Fallout 4 hair, I'll be honest... I doubt we will get even that, but a girl can dream, no? Hair are like some kind of voodoo for BioWare: is not exactly the quality of the hairstyles, for me...is really the lack of good taste! Is like they don't know the really basics of what people can find good on their head. Some of the DAI's horrors will tant my mind for a long time... I don't know specifics. But I think Liam would kill to have these hair and those natural movements. At least spoiler your porn! Oh god! I'm going to play Uncharted 4 soon... I can't wait!!!

I'm not really looking for good quality of textures either, I don't mind if the hair doesn't move at all. But I just hope Bioware finally has some good styles. DAI was so bad, it's like the one designing them didn't have clue what kind of hairstyles people have - and apparently didn't have google either- sorry if this is insulting a dev, but I don't think there was even one really good one. Some oks, most plain awful. And it's not like ME trilogy was better than DAI, it always had too few hairstyles and didn't eve that good one's either. For comparison: DAI Saint Row 3: FO4

I don't think hair will have much physics, at the end of the Combat Gameplay Trailer there is an explosion that pushes forward even a 340 kg krogan, yet Sara's and Cora's hair are glued together / static.

For comparison: DAI Saint Row 3: FO4 I completely agree. BioWare's hair choices feel...out of time. And not in a good way. I always felt Shepard had very old styled hairstyles. Only the predef (and not usable to customized characters) was a little more interesting in my opinion. Plus, you can find new hairstyles in game in Fallout 4, basically inviting the player to go and change the appearance of their characters with more modern/strange hairstyles. I'm leaving this hair comparison with this video about Dragon's Dogma.

Not that I think Bioware can't improve, but Uncharted-type of games focus a lot more on cinematics and don't have the same aumont of other content rpgs have. Uncharted is also a single platform game that benefits from this. But yes, consoles can handle hair physics. TW3 had it on consoles as well.

Time itself doesn't mean a game should be necessarily better, and we don't know how much of that actual time was spent in developing. MEA could have had a long prendevelopment stage. I do think, again, Bioware should get better at this. I'm not questioning it.

Or even Dragon's Dogma (old game, PS3 era. 60 hairstyles, and most have some phisics). At least for what I have seen for now.

I disagree with either, in terms of graphics (if we're talking about hair options that's another matter). And we did see hair physics in both Cora's and Sara's hairs before. even the female character's hairs (the new one in the trailer) moves slightly if you look closely. Hair physics is in.

Asked all the devs I could about this matter. None answered. Obviously we saw Sara's ponytail having physics when exploring a hub in a gameplay segment, but this most recent combat vid has shown they have probably decided to not have hair physics in cutscenes/conversation but have them during gameplay. Not sure if because of engine or...

I see a lot of folks comparing Mass Effect Andromeda to other games, such as Uncharted 4, The Witcher 3, Rise of the Tomb Raider, etc. For one, this is an apples to oranges comparison in all cases. It doesn't matter how long it took to develop any of these games because they are built by different studios with different priorities and run on entirely different engines.
Speaking of engines, therein lies the problem. I do not believe Frostbite 3 is built to simulate realistic hair physics. As many should know, Frostbite 3 is largely an FPS engine built for DICE's Battlefield franchise. This is the second game BioWare has built on the engine and the first time bringing Mass Effect to Frostbite 3.
CDPR worked closely with Nvidia for years to implement PhysX as well as GameWorks into TW3. The only relationship Nvidia seems to have with BioWare on MEA is supporting Ansel as well as HDR. Thus, I wouldn't really expect any headway on hair physics as it's simply not being tackled. It's not simply as easy as turning on a switch and having physics. Mass Effect Andromeda is clearly a massive game that has a lot of features many of these other games simply do not have, such as choice-driven dialogue or online multiplayer.
It's a shame, but BioWare only has so much money and time to do so many things. Hair physics, while immersive, is not going to kill my experience. Honestly, we'll be wearing helmets on hazardous planets more often than not anyway.

As you can see in the gif if you scroll up the page they are still having cases in cutscenes where the hair is completely still. Hopefully it's just an incomplete scene and they'll incorporate the physics in the final product.

Like, they've animated all the unique NPC hair but they still have to animate the CC hairs for all the scenes.
