Here you go. Modders will come to the rescue for those of us who want long hair, don't worry. What!? No bun!? This is an outrage! Seriously, though I understand why Bioware doesn't do long hair. What with clipping issues and the fact that often it just looks like an unmoving blob on top of a character's head unless the devs spend a ridiculous amount of time and resources that could probably be spent elsewhere, making it look good. Edit: I am a little miffed though that Scott gets a fro, but Sara doesn't.

Because: Clipping horrorshows Requires time consuming animations and resources better spent elsewhere So in the end, for Bioware long hair seems to be way more trouble than its worth. Lol Dragon's Dogma, a game massively below Mass Effect in terms of "resources", recognition, sales, whatever, managed to include hundreds of hair styles, including beautiful long hairs, no problem. And that's on PS3/Xbox360 too. Meh. Mehhhh. I knew I would be hoping too much. Mehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Bleh.

Can we start complaining how the male options don't have enough long hair styles?

The female cc's hair just seems to look a lot better in general. Like, even the textures look nicer. They don't get afros tho for some reason.

I'm just happy that there's actual black skin tones so I don't have to make a character vaguely similar to me look like he's a white dude who rolled around in the aftermath of a forest fire.
And that afro is gonna get some use.

I didn't see any longer hair yet, just a ponytail. Did we get anything new? I don't always get to see it as it comes out, maybe I've missed it?

Funny thing is if you make a black character hes gonan sound like the whitest character ever. I think im gonna go with asian female Ryder, at least they got those pretty right, so i can make a cute asian girl. ?? What the hell does a black / asian person sound like? And I'm talking about black or asian persons born in an english-speaking country like the US, Canada, UK etc. They sound the same as anyone else. I cannot count the number of times I've spoken to someone over the phone for interviews (I used to be a news reporter), only to meet them sometime in person later on and realize "Ah, this person happens to black (or asian or middle eastern etc)"... they sound the same as a white person, assuming they grew up in the same country. Are black people supposed to sound like they come out of the ghetto or something? Look at Liam.. voiced by Gary Carr (a black gentleman).. yet if I heard that voice without seeing his face I'd just as easily assumed he was a white Aussie (or Brit). I've interacted with thousands upon thousands of people in my career, from all walks of life... and there is no "type" of voice associated to one ethnic group over another when they all hail from the same place. Can I spot a Japanese born person who is speaking english by the sound of their voice? Sure.. but that's because of accent.. not voice.. it has nothing to do with his being east-asian, but because of his native language. Transplant him to the US as a baby and he'll sound the same as any white person born and raised in the US. Seriously, people need to step out into the goddamn world more and actually TALK to people.. the level of stereotype and ignorance some people have is mind boggling.

So... I think there's some really nice hairstyle options for the female character. I just wish there had been more of them or at least a wider variety of styles. Some of those are just too samey. As for the male character, well... looks just like most of Shepard's hairstyles. Generic and boring. That would be okay if it was just few of them but not when it's all there is. Bioware should've watched the Vikings for inspiration.
Not sure about the hair colours. Blonde looks more like yellow again, but the darker ones look okay. Not gonna use blue/pink/green/whatever.

Edit: I am a little miffed though that Scott gets a fro, but Sara doesn't. This is spot on. Hair is incredibly hard to get right in video games. It requires a lot of effort and time, which is something BioWare doesn't really have a lot of when creating vast open world games. Games like Rise of the Tomb Raider and Uncharted 4 are bad examples because those are linear experiences that focus on very few characters for extreme detail. The Witcher 3 is also another poor example because everyone is forced to play as Geralt, not to mention CDPR partnered with Nvidia in order to simulate the hair physics in TW3, which is incredibly demanding on your PC. At some point BioWare may tackle this hurdle, but hair is just one of those things that's an absolute nightmare for development. It's far too complex and oftentimes it never looks good or realistic. With how many options BioWare needs to provide, it's just easier to stick with shorter hair. Not to mention, the player will have a helmet on half the game anyway.

"Totally possible" ? Then either you've met fewer black people in your life than you have fingers or you live in the projects of detroit, or harlem, etc where your idea of what black people sound like is based on "street" language where everyone (including whites) learn a tone because it's part of their culture and background. Or you just watch a lot of TV and base your expectations of what black people sound like off that where black actors are commonly used to portray a stereotypical tone... again.. step into the real world, talk to your fellow human in the real world and you'll find that ethnic background does not come with a voice... your place of birth and environmental upbringing determine that.

You can't take the media or entertainment seriously because it's never an accurate depiction of any demographic. It's propagated by stereotypes and generalizations born of ignorance more than anything else.

I can see myself using quite a few of the female ones if not all of them at various points. I've kind of decided on what my first Sara will look like so I'm happy with that as I'm thinking head 8 with the Ashley type hairstyle. I call it the Ashley as it's similar to Ashley's from ME3 except slightly shorter. At least that's my plan.

And that afro is gonna get some use. Totally feel you on this but black characters once again get screwed in the hairstyle area. I mean I know people complained about the buzzcuts but give me something to work with at least. Even hairstyles with waves or undercuts would have worked for me. Or just bald... let that sink in that there is no bald option.
