Ive been playing fantasy rpgs lately and its really got me thinking, which I thought would be a good idea for a fun topic. What would be your perfect fantasy game? for this gaming generation at least. It could be a mix of other games or just a whole new game. It doesn't have to be an rpg but just your perfect fantasy game. I would really like to see other people opinions on this. For me personally, i would want a mix of other fantasy games mechanics mixed in a blender to make one game with: Graphics, character and enviorment designs of the witcher 3 Interesting storytelling, side quests, and rpg mechanics of dragon age orgins and witcher 3 Open world as big as skyrim Character creation to be like a mix of black desert online, dragons dogma and a bit of inquistion Romance and character mechanics like dragon age orgins mostly also but with a bit of 2 and 3 and maybe a little of skyrim in there too Boss fights like the zelda series And the combat of dragons dogma, black desert and a bit of inquisition (and a tactics menu like DA2) Give me all of that and that would be the perfect fanatasy rpg for me!

Writing: Obsidian/BIS. General Gameplay Mantras: FromSoftware. None of the You-Must-Be-This-Level-To-Beat-The-Next-Boss nonsense, where classical leveling systems rely too heavily on stats over player ability. Memorable, interwoven level design while communicating narrative through environments and intentionally nebulous descriptions(Items or otherwise). Easy on the cinematics. Graphics: Besides wanting general quality, I'm partial to a few art styles. Secret of Mana, SD3, and Valkyrie Profile have this very lush atmosphere to their pixel art that's lovely. So if we're counting indie games...that. If you mean AAA Big Budget, Dark Souls/Bloodborne also finds a favorable bridge between fantasy and reality. Size: V:tmB/Yakuza. Size of a town sounds dandy: Enough space to get lost and explore its nooks and crannies. 30 Square Mile worlds of mostly empty space doesn't quite appeal to me, either. Character Creation: Going to play the role of philistine and say don't matter to me in the least. Make me a man, woman, alien midget or cybernetic richard simmons, surprise me. Combat: FromSoftware or CDPR.

I would want a character creator as good as or better than City of Heroes. I spent more time creating characters in that game than playing them.

Ancient settings with sci-fi elements, an open world RPG, less CGI, no elves/anime stuff with HD graphics. And most important thing is the amount of gore in it. I want me some bloodfest.

So are you asking for a game based around my ideal fantasy or my ideal fantasy-game? Because those are two very different things.

Playing a viking who sets out on raids/conquest in the British isles, but with fantasy elements based on Norse and Celtic mythology. Writing like TW2, combat like Dragon's Dogma, world design a blend of TW3 and Oblivion.

Compact, fast-paced and with no fillers and time sinks/borefest of inventory management and crafting - more like Jade Empire or mass effect than DA
World, races and lore that bear absolutely no resemblance to Tolkien or medieval Western Europe ever, and no snow. Bright colours, less pastels. Something looking like Burman golden temples... Jade Empire only populated and playable by non-humans. Actually, would not mind humans being a non-playable race. Maybe demonic, elemental and celestial derived races.
Artwork that is stylized enough to have the otherworldly feel to it rather than trying to replicate real stuff in grand resolution. blade and Soul
Streamlined combat and classes, with really great and awesome spell effects. Mass effect MP and BnS.
No anime though, no lolis, no bathing suits. Really cool period outfits, that look gorgeous and exotic. No wings. Mounts and fliers would be cool though.Character customization similar to SWTOR or othe MMOs would be nice.
Character stories similar to ME2.
Strange weapons like in SWTOR or Torment.
Adventure, adventure and adventure, fast paced fun dialogues, full voicing, like in Jade Empire and Mass Effect 2, pretty cutscenes like in BnS.
Good old good&evil, bright narrative, no shades of gray and film grain noir anything.
Great cool characters.

A woman with (preferably) dark hair, all done up in black leather, 10-20 years my senior who dominates the fuck out of me ... Whoops. Read the title wrong. Being serious now. Preferably a game that shies away from the typical Tolkien shit so no elves, dwarves etc. Dark setting. Lots of boobies and fanservice. Don't give a fuck about romances. Character creation is good so long as I can define them and it's not an "ambiguous blank slate".

Sounds awesome! also who would u want as your composer? Id want hans zimmer or inon zur One of these three. Motoi Sakuraba: He's got a long-running discography that includes Dark Souls, Super Smash Bros. Melee, Valkyrie Profile and a healthy list of Nintendo titles. I'm a sucker for epic-sized sweeping orchestrals, and he's excellent at that. Toby Fox: Toby's composition has the timeless quality of Koji Kondo's work and similarly-styled music; The melodies are extremely catchy, and he builds layers into the music that keep it from ever getting old( Death By Glamour is probably my favorite example). He's also notorious for his abnormal use of leitmotifs that subtly expand, contract, and reverse musical tunes that connect to virtually every song in the soundtrack. While most OSTs tend to stick with a particular type of music based on its setting, Undertale is all over the place in all the right ways. His music is Doglike, and I wouldn't mind seeing a non-retro piece from him. Runner-Ups: Nobuo Uematsu: Description Not Required.

My ideal fantasy game would basically be a world as large and deep as Morrowind's, with the combat mechanics and boss design of Bloodborne. It's a game I would play entirely for the exploration and combat, so I haven't really given much thought into the story behind it, but I guess I could throw in Obsidian to handle the writing. Oh, and put FromSoftware in charge of the soundtrack too. Urban fantasy with horror elements. Jim Butcher style, or "The Secret World". With some Cthulhu insanity sprinkled in. This sounds an awful lot like Bloodborne, although it's not really an "urban horror", more of a Lovecraftian horror that just so happens to have a large number of Victorian urban areas.

Well, Bloodborne isn't really an RPG, is it even fantasy? It's not a character-driven RPG if that's what you mean, but it fits the bill of action RPG perfectly. And I would argue that it has a lot of similarities to a fantasy setting because of how analogous it is to Dark Souls (which is definitely fantasy), but that's more of a subjective thing.

Yes, I love it when fantasy games don't immediately jump on the whole "lets take some of toilken's lore and tweak it a bit" concept, but have a more original take on the races and lore (although I dont mind games having toilken-esque lore) so I really love your idea of humans and other races, sounds like something i definitely would wanna play! But also why no snow? and who would you want doing the soundtrack?
