I would surmise to say any organization/government/species that is involved funded the project in one way or another either to make money off of or for personal gains. I could see many private organizations and groups pouring resources into such an ambiguous project. Hell if I lived in that time period and was a trilionaire I'd fund a portion of it just to see results or for the advancement of our civilization..or for the hell of it.

Cerberus backers could've provided funding and padded the Nexus or Hyperion staff with a cell to create a new branch of Cerberus in Andromeda to ensure that humanity thrives above all others. ........Maybe the reason the ship arrives late. |

It's most likely that Cerberus tried to program the aliens' cryopods to eject two hundred years after leaving MW, but screwed up and accidentally ejected their own pods. |

As yto your question its funny people keep throwing out some known characters like the Ashlands etc. Yeah its not like theres a huge number of other rich humans in the galaxy, not to mention asari, salarians, turians, volus...
I wouldnt be surprised if it was some sort of joined human-asari-volus venture or some thing, and the turians and salarians later joined and pooled some of their resources too. Theres always people with money and crazy visions, as we have seen.

Hey, Tempest is a stealth vessel. Meaning it probably has the Tantalus drive.
Hell, ODSY could very well be a derivative of Tantalus.
The only non-Alliance, non-Hiearchy faction in the universe that has gotten it's hands on the Tantalus drive and knows how to make one is Cerberus.

As with any project, the ones with the ideas search for investors in the private and public sector. It seems like Jien Garson has found enough to fund the Andromeda Initiative. Why? That is the question we have no answer for yet.

I will be happy if Cerberus isn't involved. I've had enough of them in the previous 3 games. I won't mind hearing them in passing, but I don't want them physically in Andromeda. I'm ok if they leave the benefactors as vague super rich people and/or companies.
