I did too my friend...i did too. I've held off on playing Horizon. If reviews on Monday aren't good, I'll probably pick up Horizon instead. At this point I'm just hoping reviews will confirm the game picks up and gets better later on. Horizon is fantastic, I cannot recommend it enough. The facial animations are like the polar opposite of this, aside from occasional bad lip sync. |

Watched the 4-5 hr playthru, Ill rent it, see what happens. At least Ill have fun running Kett over in the Not-Mako. If/When I do buy permanently it will probably be the 40 dollar goty edition. Course, if I get it off of amazon, it might be even cheaper. So far I havent seen the preview people run things over much in the Not-Mako. One of them died out in open desert because he didnt run Kett over. Hardly any natural cover. So he gets out and tries to snipe but that didnt work. They were all lined up nicely after the dropship let them down. If there's an achievement for 4 wheeled mayhem Ill get it fairly quickly. That and I am going to try to make a Ryder that frowns slightly, since in the cut scenes so far...she has this soft smile the whole time, even during emotional parts. If this wins GOTY, then video game awards are invalid to me. |

After playing the first couple hours of SP, I have to say it reminds me of Mass Effect. Yep, its not perfect, but its a playable game. The cinematics are okay but not perfect, the gameplay is okay, but not perfect, the models are okay, but not perfect and the dialog is okay but not perfect.
I havent tried out MP yet, but I will let you know my self important opinions about it when I do. You better listen and remember, my opinions are law and you must spread it and believe it like I am God. Your opinions do not matter because what I say is right, you are wrong.

therevanchist25, maybe there will be a facepalm year edition? But as it stands, Ill get it from Redbox this Tuesday, run over things in not mako and wait for it to hit 30 bucks or less. Will probably get more of my fun out of the MP stuff. Again, glad I didnt get on the hype train for this one.

I've included a crowd scene from TW3 for comparison, it's far from perfect perfect but I think a combination of better textures/facial design, better lip synching (remember it's lip synched in Polish) and the the capture of subtle movement across the entire face, as opposed to just the mouths in Andromeda, creates the foundations for far superior facial animations in TW3. We can probably compare Liam to Zoltan and in this case I think Zoltan is far more expressive without even saying anything. I think it'll telling of the degree of TW3's accomplishments, when even today, you can go on TW3's subreddit and see newcomers gushing about their first playthrough. Unfortunately, I think ME:A is going to be remembered for different reasons. |

The facial animation is not a deal breaker for me, but while I was watching the gameplay (16hr worth) I was thinking how pretty outdated and bland the faces and body looked.
It was only when looking at some ME 1-3 clips that I realized that ME:A looked worse. I thought that it would have been on par -if not better- than Dragon Age: Inquisition in terms of looks, but it's not.
The environments look nice and big, but I was getting too much DA:I vibes from the areas.

I do agree the models and animations do seem dated. Dont know if its a Frostbite thing. There are definately some engines that do look seem to better.

Another very disheartening preview that, based on the terrible dialogue bits I've seen, I can only agree with so far. I haven't seen such wooden conversations in over 15 years. That or super juvenile bro dialogue that is not funny to me as a 32 year old adult anymore. Bioware Montreal does not know how to write or animate games it seems. It's such a baffling drop in quality. Keep them away from the Dragon Age franchise, I beg you, EA! |

Want an example? Be femshep and just say hi to Jacob, and see how she sounds like some creepy stalker woman.
Or how about the fact that most ME1 characters were walking codexes.
The writing (few notable exceptions aside) has never been stellar.
