For anyone that pre-ordered, here's the breakdown of the extras... Looks like I wont be missing out on much. So, Scavenger armor - "a handful of these suits were given to the initiative by an anonymous turian donor". Thank you, random turian marauder.

I remember when people were saying after the VGA trailer that they still had 3 months to fix face animations... ah, the bless of naivete... It seems, based on certain previews, that the dialogue between Sloan and Ryder looks better then in the trailer. The main problem was that if they were at that level overall, the end results wasn't going to be optimal.

People did play the original trilogy, yes? Crappy dialogue is hardly new is it.Want an example? Be femshep and just say hi to Jacob, and see how she sounds like some creepy stalker woman. Or how about the fact that most ME1 characters were walking codexes. The writing (few notable exceptions aside) has never been stellar. Makes you wonder if people have forgotten or are just over looking that fact, the whole trilogy had corny dialogue but it was still a great series. Bingo and the games were great. I think I'll have a blast.

ITS A DIFFERENT FRAKING GAME IN A DIFFERENT FRAKING GENRE WHICH WAS MUCH SHORTER AND LESS AMBITIOUS THEN ANDROMEDA. My God now I know what its like when people are always complaining about when I am comparing apples to oranges. Lesson learned for me and myself.

One is a glitch (among likely lots). The other is simply reviewers and players enjoying creating extreme characters.

With the aumont of animations problems the game has, I thought we could avoid to put things that are either old, fake or that aren't really problems. Guess I was wrong.

Found this video with side by side comparisons of ME:A against ME1, they've fucked up big time. I'm glad this video was made because BW really screwed the animations, and the comparison to ME1 puts to rest the idiotic argument that BW's always had awful facial animations. In some aspects and scenes, yes, but never like this. The only thing ME:A has for it is combat. I hope it's enough to sell the game, bc I need DA4.

A little old, but for the technically minded, this is a brilliant article about how the TW3 team accomplished great animations and cinematics with only a core team of 14 people. I have no idea how the larger and better funded Andromeda team could not match this with the 5 years that they had. link

Coming from the Mass Effect Andromeda Skepticism thread. Holy shit, irony. Not saying the game looks great, but wow, lmao. This very thread is the biggest bubble on this entire site.

It's like people have forgotten how femshep ran in me3, for example. It's always been an issue but it looks like to me it's just being used now as an excuse to be overly critical. If it wasn't the animations it would be something else.

The game just have terrible animations.

If it wasn't the animations it would be something else. I do think the problems need to be addressed and criticized, but yeah, people are forgetting that Bioware games always had those problems. Are there more in Andromeda? Maybe/probably. But the comparison should be adequate. We should compare Ashley with Cora and Liam, not with a side character. While the former might still end up better, the difference isn't as wide as with Foster, which should be side characters. Overall, I'm not fond of what Bioware did in terms of animations, but it's not like every animation is like that. Although it's pretty weird that custom Sara seem to have less animations problems then default Sara.

They certainly didn't do a good job (and Bioware should be criticized for that), but some people are implying that the whole time they played the animations are like this, which isn't true.

I'd say as far as facial animations are considered, that's absolutely what's going on.
Everything that could possibly be said about facial animations has been said a thousand times, whether accurate or not. It's not nearly as big of a deal as people are making it out to be. Especially considering the fact that Origins, one of Bioware's best games, was the worst looking game to come out at the time.
There are plenty of other things to dislike about Andromeda without always reverting back to the same conversation about facial animations. This is the same conversation this thread was having back when I first signed up for the damn site. You'd think everyone here was 13, considering this odd obsession with graphical fidelity and little else.

It's worse than I thought. I'm confused. If it was really that bad why not just have one long piece of continous uncut footage instead of cherry picked moments? This obsession with the facial animations is getting really weird as noted above.

I'm sure the Mass Effect team have worked long and hard to deliver a great game, including working on the facial animations and textures. They've produced something that's GOOD, definitely, considering this is a 50+hour long RPG with customisable faces. However, it seems to me though they just don't have the capability for some reason to develop anything as truly exceptional as, say, the Witcher III. If you hadn't played games like Witcher 3 or seen truly impressive facial design, you'd look at ME:A and say "wow that looks amazing!".
I don't think the GIFs and such should be taken that seriously, little bugs like that are to be expected. I just think the general quality is a little disappointing and whilst it shouldn't detract from the game experience, it is a valid critique point.
Still, I'd rather take a game with decent facial animation in a universe which I'm interested in (ME) over amazing facial animation in a setting which I find boring. People need to decide what exactly makes them enjoy a game and decide what to buy based on that, rather than worrying about all the doom and gloom about facial animations if that's not one of your top priorities in a game.
