I'm sorry, but there is absolutely nothing believable about GTA characters, Trevor more so than most. Unless you actually want to tell me that forcing your way into a couples house, taking advantage of the poor husband who lives there, utterly destroying their house and covering it with fecal matter. Then when the wife finally comes home and is rightfully offended and demands the random stranger leave at once, said character has the gall to be offended that "this stupid bitch" is telling him to leave then promptly kills them. If you think that to be believable behavior, I don't know what to say, other than maybe you need a shrink. Thats just 1 example of how unbelievable that game is. However I'm not going to argue this further, because I already know how this forum works. No one ever changes their mind, so it's pointless. whole thing is an obvious. Of course it will fall apart with logic. But presentation is top notch and that's what carries it. That scene( Sara/Suvi) is good example of the opposite. There's nothing wrong with Sara still being awkward young adult, but everyone looks so stunted that it makes the player feel embarassed. With GTA ( or even manstalking Femshepard) I was simply laughing it all off. I suppose that is a valid counter-point. However I feel there is really nothing that could have salvaged that scene personally. The lines themselves are horrific, and the presentation as you mentioned is horrible. If the lines were written by someone competent, rather than someone with fan fiction level talent, and perhaps moved to a more private location it would be tolerable. Maybe.

Of course, tastes are gonna vary. Some folks can't stand Girls.

The issues with characterization go beyond personal taste, even if some do not want to admit it. Far too many situations involve poorly timed humor or behavior out of character for the people in this setting and context. Even if I liked the childlike dork at Gamestop dialogue between Ryder and Suvi, it's inappropriate and would not be so overtly childish, considering one of them is the leader of your expedition and the other is a top scientist ON THE FUCKING BRIDGE OF YOUR GODDAMN SHIP!

If you're adding some levity in these situations, it works better brief, more poignant, etc. Like with Georgie boy here..end it on a high note.

Cringe comedy does have a high inherent difficulty level. Curb Your Enthusiasm misses sometimes too.

Cringe comedy does have a high inherent difficulty level. Curb Your Enthusiasm misses sometimes too. 100% miss all the time. Read the following -if you want or dare. Seething post: Or someone like me that IF or when they finally understand the cringe joke -if ever. Would rather beat the living snot of said cringe joke teller than to EVER let them tell another joke. Jokes in my opinion that berate, belittle, mock, shame, depress ANYONE have NO place on this planet. Doesn't matter if the victim is a stuck-up imbecile, going against social norms, or breaking political correctness -(the latter I would nuke anyway) or not. There is always a reason for everything -most people just choose to shame someone rather than to even begin to try and understand. Think I am funny? I don't care. If someone gets elation from another person's misery -they should then be dragged to the Earths' core and be burned alive. I will not respond to the above. P.E.R.I.O.D. I am done with the subject. How about "me" instead of "the player" ? I just found the scene funny; Hannah Horvath in space. Of course, tastes are gonna vary. Some folks can't stand Girls. Well I would see it working better with more cut/editing. But if anyone's being mocked on shows like Curb Your Enthusiasm and Girls, it's the creators themselves and people like them. Larry David isn't allowed to make himself look like an ass?

No he is not allowed to in such a case. If he is willing to be on such a show then he must agree to have put up with what the show-runners are creating. If he doesn't agree with it then stand up for himself and have dignity and walk away. Stand up for your beliefs -whatever they are -don't let someone just mock you since they think it is funny. Furthermore if said show-runners feel this is great entertainment then they need a lobotomy and never be allowed to work in television again.

Umm... you do know that Larry David runs the show himself, right? Then what I said about the show-runners still applies except now applies to him. If he is a two-faced obscenity and is different out of television in how he acts then is even more receiving of it. Anything that can bring defamation to a person should be axed before it is even allowed to begin.

I'm not following. He can't be mean to himself? Nobody can be mean to anybody ever? Nope. Respect for everyone should be acknowledged and used at all times. Someone not having respect for all life and being respectful to all life -human or otherwise -should lead to: Suffering a lobotomy and be catatonic for the remainder of their lives. Or have them put in a chamber and vaporized for the crime of being mean. Either way it would cut down on the bullying in school and at the work place. Meanness among other things can breed defamation, mistrust, malcontent, hatred and bigotry. Items best removed from this world if we ever want to reach the stars and be a successful species.

So Andromeda won a Goty award from Giantbomb:
"Most Disappointing Game Mass Effect: Andromeda
As defined, this category is based on the gulf between our expectations for a game and the reality of it, and there has never been and may never be a more appropriate game in that context than Mass Effect: Andromeda. Think about the impact the Mass Effect series has had up to now, all the stories told and themes explored. Think about the vast galaxy it created, full of fascinating aliens and intercultural struggles. Think about a story arc so grand that it was (mostly) successfully told across three entire games. Think about how deeply and personally every player embodied their own Shepard. Think about what Mass Effect has meant to so many people.
Now think about a game that misunderstands or discards most of the best things about Mass Effect, a game built on the worst tendencies of open-world design, a game that launched in a state so technically compromised that it felt like it was on the verge of collapsing in on itself; in other words, a game so disappointing that EA has now indefinitely shelved what was once the most exciting franchise in video games. While we're on the subject, "congrats" to EA for running the category this year. Heck of a showing."

It really is the most disappointing game of the year even after the shit show that was BF2. Five years of waiting and tease, that resulted in the end of the franchise. Here's a toast to Bioware and their new and recent fuck up.
Hey, at least the combat was good, which is why I bought the first Mass Effect in the first place.

That J.Jonah clip never gets old in these scenarios lol.... .....but i agree that Andromeda was the most disappointing game this year. After what Bioware is known for...after the compelling storyline of the Reapers, we was let down tremendously with this title. Part of the blame goes to EA for releasing a game that was unfinished, because who really looked this game over (at the time) and said.."it's ok.....we're good.....characters look like plastic mannequins with deers in headlight effect, but we'll fix that s**t with patches afterwards" Andromeda was one of my most anticipated games of the year...and while i wasn't expecting them to surpass the Reaper storyline which was a high order already, i wasn't expecting the characters to be so stale and the story and writing to be un-inspired. Bioware shoud have really just continued the Milky Way storyline and went with a canon story event dealing with the aftermath of the Reaper event and have these characters deal with another threat (not as big as the Reaper threat) while they was in the midst of rebuilding.

I feel like I'm watching the shadows and vorlons fight again. When fire burns, is it at war? Is it in conflict? Or is it simply doing what it was created to do? We are no different.

So Andromeda won a Goty award from Giantbomb: "Most Disappointing Game Mass Effect: Andromeda As defined, this category is based on the gulf between our expectations for a game and the reality of it, and there has never been and may never be a more appropriate game in that context than Mass Effect: Andromeda. Heck of a showing." I don't see any reason to face this as a joke other than deflection. People might like Andromeda and think it's better than people give it credit for. But the general feeling of disappointment and the failure of the game both critically and commercially that led to the death of the franchise are widely known facts. Understanding why Mass Effect Andromeda may be pointed out as the most disappointing game of the year is easy to do, even if you don't agree with it.
