As for the point about representation, I feel that it's pretty diverse. We haven't seen the whole cast. We have no idea what ethnicity Jien Garson is. Bro/Sis/Papa Ryder can be any ethnicity we choose. Cora is white. Liam is African. Sloane Kelly is...sorry I'm really bad at this. South American? Assuredly not white, though. Have we seen any other humans? I'm trying to think, but I'm pretty sure the answer is no. So that's a possibility for 5 different ethnicities and we have...5 different ethnicities. Seems pretty good so far. Ryder is also a fine neutral name that people can use for many ethnicities. I mean it's not like there are famous non-white people with the last name Jordan (Michael) or Jones (Julio) or Johnson (David), and the list goes on an on. The point is to make a last name that is neutral, and they've done that, while also paying homage to an American space hero Sally Ride. I find idea behind diversity retarded, how about we´ve removed all the human party members, and left only main protagonist to be the only human on the ship, you´ll choose sex, skin color, sexuality and that´s it. Go on, fly around, you have full crew of aliens, that´s diverse as it can be in sense of that universe. No, but that´s not how ideologues works, you have to have woman, black guy, mexican guy, gay, lesbian and list goes on and on. I find amusing that in 29th century we still had to have invisible developer´s diversity quotas, as if there were no other things to argue about, same worked for ME2 and later on ME3, DA2 and DA:I. I don´t mind diversity, as far as characters fit into the story and doesn´t feel to be forced token characters to walk around. There just has to be more to character and its story, than that he is gay or trans, like with Dorian I believe, I liked his style, I didn´t mind him being a gay, but his backstory was like from some bad teenage drama. Then there was Cassandra, that had to be always angry and agressive im manly manner. Krem on the other hand was failed attemtp on so many levels, and about Ironbull it´s rather pointless to start.

This is a nitpick, but I'm finding that I'm already missing that military POV that Shepard provided in the trilogy.

assuming that a character can't be black or middle eastern looking or indian or oriental because they have the surname ryder is borderline racist. ? Bitch-ass bullshit. Ryder's an n-word for lyfe! I like your style uso (that's Samoan for bro). My nephew's name is Ryder and he's as islander as they come (for those that don't know, Samoa is an island nation in the Pacific). We're Kiwis of Samoan, German and Scottish decent.....aka love a rowdy good time lol: Ryder is a very multicultural name: all encompassing even.

Lots of bitching about the team and their looks. No one mentions that SAM is part of the squad.... permanent part too.
Squad then is made up of:
Ryder, selection1, selection2 and SAM.
EDIT: from briefing #4 Cora said "... and finally, the last member of our team... SAM"

smudboy released another ME trailer sins. I thought it was pretty good. Oh, God, this guy is still around? I honestly thought he had moved onto something that made him happy. Guess not. Lol. This is a terrible video. It's a trailer, and trailers deliberately replace scenes or switch them around from their intended order to provide an emotional path for the viewer, who is supposed to be uninformed about what Andromeda is. His criticisms like, "It looks like you've been building this space station for a long time, so what the hell are you talking about?" is so obnoxious it makes my eye twitch. No one has any idea at what point in the story that scene takes place. Ugh. It's borderline asinine for being such an ignorant video. Smudboy. The type of critic that reminds me how petty the internet can be. I wonder, in a distant sort of way, if he can't wait to be disappointed by Andromeda.

People who don't like his videos can watch them and criticize him. Also, my question to you, since your obviously skeptical and not liking much about Andromeda thus far, why even be here on a Mass Effect forum and discuss it? The answer is you are completely within your right to be skeptical and not like it, as well as be here on these forums and discuss your thoughts. Optimistic or pessimistic. The same goes for smudboy and his videos. People are entitled to not like them, and watch them, and keep on not liking them. People can praise them. People can criticize them. People can criticize those who praise it. People can criticize those who criticize it. And vice versa.

Besides most wasn't even actively criticizing his video. They just posted how obnoxious he is, and so on and so forth. Which isn't an issue. But why bother when you already know what the guys going to do and dislike him already? It adds nothing to the conversation. But by all means it's the internet, type what you wish. Just don't notify me, by quoting my post, about how much you dislike the guy. Because I don't care about ad hominems. If you're going to criticize the video then criticize it. I don't want to know about how he makes your eyes twitch.

Is this guy a legitimately a hater or does he just like to make amusing videos? There's something called CinemaSins where the person who makes the videos does an "Everything wrong with [movie]". It's so obviously tongue in cheek that you can't take it seriously. That's how I viewed this video.

He's basically not worth the time of day in my book. Also: here is a thought... Cora Harper: same last name as the Illusive Man. Alec Ryder: interesting in human expansion and human development via tech implants. Possibly married to the woman Ellen Ryder, who created the implants for the player characters. I am getting some very Cerberus vibes here for those two now.

Just because someone has a history of shitty videos, doesn't mean they can't release a good one here or there. Personally, I had never heard of Smudboy before and took the poster at his word. I don't regret watching it, but I think the video is pretty shitty regardless.

Now here's a thread that I can find a safe harbour in. I find that pretty hard to believe. The hate towards ME:A has been very rampart on pretty much all outlets.

Now here's a thread that I can find a safe harbour in. I find that pretty hard to believe. The hate towards ME:A has been very rampart on pretty much all outlets. The likes/dislikes ratio on the trailers for ME:A seem to suggest otherwise. I think that those who hate it are usually the most vocal on spaces like YouTube. This is true for a lot of other game trailers. Whereas some people who like it wouldn't go near the YT comments with a barge pole, since people who are voicing their support for the game there are getting insults hurled at them, and generally just triggering the worst kind of people. People who like the game come here to discuss and debate, as do those who are skeptical (thus this thread), and even some who hate it, but thankfully everyone is still respectful enough to continue a mature discussion, rather than descend into what has plagued the YT comments for the new trailers of late. So for many and all kinds of people, with varying opinions on the game, this thread and even these forums I'd argue do seem like safe harbour from spaces like the hate filled YouTube comments section.

ME:A is not only a SPer game nor an MMO. Like ME3 it has a single player campaign and a co-operative (likely 4 person) multiplayer. ME3 MPer was extremely successful and popular and yet we have seen absolutely nothing of the MPer part. With MPer you can how combat works, how cover behaves, playing as a sniper or just using biotic powers, and you can do so in a way you don't spoil the story at all.

You're right, there's definitely more likes than dislikes on youtube. But man I've been lurking around many different websites, and going by comments alone, there's without question a lot of negativity being thrown at the game. Neogaf and Reddit seem to be the worst. I swear if you never saw any of the footage of this game, and just read the comments on there, you would think ME:A would straight up be a bad game. There's people who are excited for it, but there definitely seems to be a 50/50 ratio (based on comments) between people who think it looks good and people who think it looks generic. The only two places where things seem to be more tame is the BSN and /r/MassEffect. Everywhere else as lots of naysayers. What I find particularly frustrating though, is the majority of complaints being thrown at the game are either poorly worded, or just flat out illogical. People are already passing judgement on the characters being boring, despite knowing anything about them. Not to mention the story is already being called generic looking, even though the game isn't out yet. It just seems like there's more people than usual, that are sharpening their knives already.

Well thankfully the sorts of poorly worded and illogical nonsense is a rarity here I've found. People are more than entitled to have skepticism about the game, much like people can be hyped about it. I've found there is a sort of middle ground on this site, where the two can discuss and theorize at length, and while it can go on a bit sometimes, it never extends in the sorts of posts you see at NeoGaf and Reddit. I've never been on any of those sites since I've heard a lot of negative stuff about them, so I tend to stay here where things are pretty great as far as discussions go and engaging with fellow fans on all sorts of topics on the series. I agree that passing judgments on elements of the game that we have yet to experience is premature, but on the other side of things, I suppose you could also argue that people like me and others getting hyped about the game we haven't played is also premature. Stick around here, you'll find there's a really great mix of people, and even if it feels like there are loads who are against the game, they are allowed that view, but also they express that view in a mature and respectful way, unlike those on YT comments and elsewhere on the internet
