I like how Jack Howitzer movies are rated 'PG' for 'Patriotic Garbage' in the GTA universe.

You mean like how the brief description of DAI's content was released before the game right? Stuff like Iron Bull's infamous "I will bring myself to sexual pleasure later, while thinking of this with great respect" line.
No, they haven't released anything yet, unfortunately.

I have never been able to figure out when those come out for ESRB. Sometimes it's after the damn games already launched and in public hands. Sometimes it's month or 2 in advance. I feel like theres some kind of contractual shenanigans going on that makes it all oddball. Or maybe who ever is in charge of the sites just... all over the place.

To me all rating systems regardless of what media (video games, movies, TV shows, comics, novels, music, and etc) are like complete and total unregulated capitalism, they might sound good as an academic theory and/or on paper, but have NEVER worked in the real world due to people being lazy, stupid, greedy, or any combo of the three.

Yeah, that story is partially true. It didn't take 'mods' to add nudity into the game (well kinda). The nudity existed in the game, the underwear (bra portion) was an actual model. And you could just 'hide' it showing nipples. That's why the rating got changed, because they didn't barbie-doll the skin. If a mod 'actually' adds nudity that didn't exist in the files, ratings don't get changed. It's a 'It's on the disc, so it counts' kinda thing. Same thing happend with GTA, with the hot coffee whatever BS. Sex mini-game was in the game, people found it with commands/mods, but because it was already apart of the game (just hidden from normal gameplay) it still counts. It's why porn mods for Skyrim don't turn it into an AO rating. It's also one of the many reasons the whole misconception about ratings going crazy happens due to mods. like people afraid Bethesda allowing nudity via mods on consoles would change the rating? Complete bullshit but it's an unfounded fear that still exists. I think that very reasoning is one of the reasons Bethesda is so opposed to nudity when they used to not be. As far as rating systems as a whole being stupid? Agreed, but the gaming industry did it on it's own purposefully to keep the government out since that shit hit movies way back when the didn't have a PG-13 rating amongst other things. It's just a safety net from stupidity. edit: meant mod, not model... no idea why i said model

I find all media ratings systems stupid. The US movie rating system is not only stupid and it is also really corrupt, according to the documentary called This Film is Not Yet Rated, which shows how secretive and selective the ratings board is and how the major studios sometimes buy a "PG-13" rating for what is a really an R-Rated film. The TV ratings system is beyond stupid to the point where a classic 50s TV show like Maverick gets rated TV-14 just because the heroic Maverick brothers smoke cigars sometimes. Comic book used to have Comic Code Authority but it's thankfully finally been dismantled and thrown in garbage bin of history, sadly now of days Marvel just rates their own books like video games or movies and DC does pretty much the same. None of this shit works because lazy stupid parents who take their kids to see R-Rated movies and let them watch more TV-M rated shows and let them play M-Rated video games.

None of this shit works because lazy stupid parents who take their kids to see R-Rated movies and let them watch more TV-M rated shows and let them play M-Rated video games. That's what I was saying though, mods don't dictate game rating. It's kinda like how multiplayer is never rated because it can't be. Games content at base can be, human beings can't be. As I said before though rating systems exists to keep the government out of it. Last thing anyone wants (fans or the corporations) is the government involved with rating content. That and it become an overstep and could be seen as government censorship which is a pretty big freedom here. Just look at Australia who's rating IS government run, shits crazyballs. Anyways a 'it's doesn't always work so fuck it' is a bad excuse for wanting something gone. Laws against murder doesn't stop it from happening but that shit still needs to exist. Ratings are still useful, even if it can't be upheld to much of anything. Also, the movie industry as a whole is corrupt as fuck. Seriously, there some fucked up absurdly illegal shit that's been going on in hollywood for a looong ass time, it's not that shocking there rating board wouldn't be just as messed up. Thankfully M rated games still sell the most compared to Teen rated. That's one of the biggest issues in movie, corruption aside, is they aim for what sells best. And if PG-13 sells best, you end up getting Terminator movies that 'should' be R, shitting out cut up to fit into a PG-13 rating.

Aha, I see ESRB is up... Mass Effect™: AndromedaPlatform: Windows PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One Rating Category: 'M' Mature Content Descriptors: Blood, Nudity, Strong Language, Strong Sexual Content, Violence Other: Online Interactions Not Rated by the ESRB (Windows PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One) Rating Summary: This is an action role-playing game in which players lead humanity to a new home across the galaxy. As players explore various planets, they use futuristic weapons (e.g., laser rifles, Cryo-beams, shotguns) and special abilities (e.g., concussive blasts, telekinetic pushes) to combat hostile alien races. Battles are frenetic, highlighted by realistic gunfire, explosions, and screams of pain; enemies sometimes emit splashes of blood when hit. During the course of the game, the central character can develop relationships with crew members and engage in brief sexual encounters with them. These brief sequences (couplings) depict sensual caresses, sexual moaning, and hip gyrations; characters' breasts and/or buttocks are sometimes exposed for prolonged periods. The words “f**k,” “sh*t,” and “a*shole” can be heard in the dialogue. www.esrb.org/ratings/Synopsis.aspx?Certificate=34833&Title=Mass+Effect%u2122%3a+Andromeda

Despite the description having things not seen before in a BW game, this rating still sounds pretty tame to me.

We already knew BioWare had been working on the 'gun-porn' Touche`. "Screams of pain" & "emit splashes of blood when hit" then

Hmm, I don't really need super explicit sex scenes, but I don't mind 'em either. My only concern is that, if they get too ambitious, the animations might not end up to scratch for what they're going for. It'll probably be good for some of the sex scenes, but I don't have a ton of faith in every sex scene getting lovingly crafted animation, since they're going to be stretching their resources here. And, well, let's be honest: sex scenes are the kinds of scenes that are really easy to fuck up.

What about the naked corpses? I mean we see Lucien's butt and mangled gentiles and others like that too inside the Gates! Or were they too messed up to up the rating? I don't remember any mangled genitals? *reinstalls Oblivion, rubs hands together* Well they had to be mangled so we didn't see anything. Ugh that scene still gets to me.
