They (the Milky Way species) also pinned their whole civilization and government on a Citadel that we later find out is actually Reaper tech. Perhaps it is that Shepard, the only organic to have actually talked to the Catalyst, is the only one who throughout several cycles has had the opportunity to identify the Crucible as a Reaper trap... and maybe, just maybe, not tripping the trap and drawing the war out for a few more centuries is actually this cycle's best chance at survival overall. I suppose it's possible given that the plans for the Crucible were found in the same place as technology that helped humanity make use of mass relays (Reaper tech). I'm just trying to understand what more of a trap there could be then your race being harvested - a thing that was already happening. The first game frequently ends with Shepard convincing Saren to commit suicide (I personally usually opt to fight it out, but I believe most players do opt to use either the Charm or Intimidate option)... Perhaps cornering us into building and then triggering the Crucible without truly knowing what it does is the Reapers essentially convincing each cycle to do the same thing? I'm just throwing it out here as food for thought... yet another way to interpret the endings differently. Despite one interpretation being more popular than others, the fact still remains that the endings can be interpreted in several different ways... and that is one reason why I think Bioware should never declare any one of them canon.

I understand that. I'm always down for fan theories that help make sense of things. For the record, this is not unique to BioWare, or to video games. Plenty of things often have to be "fixed" (via headcanon) in books and movies. For example, I loved Harry Potter but felt the movies were missing things. (Couldn't give you details since it's been years since I've seen them.) Possibly because I read the more detailed books but there it it.

Here's another one. hahahahaha
The crucible isn't a weapon. haha. Its the last piece needed to complete the Citadel since it fits perfectly. Wouldn't that be a twist? Everyone standing around scratching their heads wondering what the heck is going on? It would be interesting to see how long it would take for them to realize that the crucible isn't meant to do what they hoped it would do.
