I don't expect them to put all that in a trailer (how could they), but I do expect a little more effort than Hollywood Space Action Crap 101. That's what Briefings are for, which are the only thing enjoyable for me at the moment. Belligerence? To you personally? I'm one of most ancient edgelords on BSN, I talk to everyone like that. Oh, okay then, best of luck.

How about roleplay? I remember my Mass Effect not by BS Shepard nonsense at the beginning of ME3 (it's not about strategy, it's about survival! GROAAAAAN; well, apparently, I remember that as well). To me it's about the beauty of Ilos, first revealing what the Reapers are, seeing Omega, going on a heist, talking with Mordin about genophage, fighting for Tali on the Migrant fleet, holding in my hands the future of the Krogan on Tuchanka (Mordin: I MADE A MISTAKE!!!!) and of Geth and Quarians on Rannoch. It's synth retro soundtrack and sense of family and all the other little subtle things that make Mass Effect, well, Mass Effect. I don't expect them to put all that in a trailer (how could they), but I do expect a little more effort than Hollywood Space Action Crap 101. Also Ahriman, for someone with a solid number of posts, I'd think you'd be a little more welcoming to new posters. Your belligerence to me personally because you don't agree with my feelings toward the trailer is unwarranted and rude. I am not sure what I did to earn scornful dismissiveness and mockery. Now I know who not to reply to in the future, I guess. Looking back at both the DA:O trailer and the trailer for Mass Effect, I don't really see much difference, so at least there's a general pattern we can expect. In fact this new trailer is pretty darn close to ME1's.

If I never heard of Bioware or played the trilogy, I wouldn't get the game. Nothing that has been shown would interest me in getting the game. The graphics look good. The best part I've seen is the fiend grabbing Ryder in the gameplay video.
The biggest reason why I'm getting the game is to hear/see the explanation of the how/why/who going to Andromeda.
In the trailer the squad is in armor, but peepee is in her whatever outfit. Will my Ryder be able to wear something with an exposed belly button?

Two important items most missed 1- The Archon is surrounded by Remnant tech... appx @2.42. View in slow mo. View of a Remnant vault? 2.- I think we see our Antagonist here @4:04 and Scott lands one on him. 3-. Last few seconds of the trailer we see the Tempest fleeing a maelstrom in space pursued by a Khet ship
Of course it's a cinematic trailer not actual game play.

I love the pic below. But, where is Vetra? Also, the background suggests they are in a Vault. Scott's armour is N7_venish looking.
So, is Jaal our 7th squad made? He just doesn't look like a combat guy.... leader perhaps.

Why do people here still talk about trailers like they're supposed to appeal to you and not to the mass market?
They aren't for you. You're already here. They're for other people.
They have other stuff for you, like the AI briefings and whatnot.

I mean, if Bioware wants to appeal to the mass market, maybe ditch RPGs and make money doing other stuff? Or... embrace the inner geek and tell the people who don't play games like this that they ought to try cause it's awesome. These trailers presuppose that the only way to reel in the audience is with Hollywood blandy blandness with a topping of beige. Maybe it works? Dunno.

I always get that little warm feeling inside when I remember how I loved playing the trilogy. But I'm optimistic about ME:A, and I don't see why it shouldn't have what makes the old trilogy great, since the game has been in development for years. This is just a trailer, and it shows the story in just a few seconds. I actually prefer the new briefing video, it shows more about story and characters than the trailer itself, if you ask me. Don't lose hope!

Which is strange because I quite enjoy DA:I for what it is, but it was the fast-paced narrative and companions that hooked me in ME universe. That particular formula, a "good ratio" of main quests/side quests as well as the overall integration of themes appealed to me in the original trilogy. I am not sure how huge open maps with tons of optional content will sit with me. I fear the straight narrative drive will inevitably get diluted, but I guess we'll see.

The Mass Effect Trilogy had all of these things, it is true. But it was also chock full of the Hollywood action BS that you called out from the trailer(one liners, sex, explosions). I think you'll find that much of the marketing for Bioware games going back to at least DAO has focused on that Michael Bay stuff.

I think I've watched the trailer 6 times now. I haven't been this excited for a game in a long time It's one of those cheeky trailers that really gets under your skin....and to be honest, I didn't think that much about it the very first time I watched it. After 2-10 viewings, the secrets being told (Alec's status / AI's stance / Liam's volatility / Cora's amazingness) unravel and you're left with a feeling of camaraderie, teamwork and a playful sense of true friendship....much like a top-tier Final Fantasy team of adventurers. Fuck, I really am hyped now: Cora and Liam are bae and bro, and they've really set my excitement pubes on fire

After watching the trailer and the briefing a few more times I'm happy at what I see. I am not happy with 100% of what I see as there are always things that don;t site totally well but if bioWare does what they do best (companions and voice acting) I'll enjoy the game.

Loving this trailer! Both Cora and Liam look fantastic. We get a good look at Kallo(sp?) and I love the way the new species sounds - I damn near died when I heard them call us HOOMANS! This hype train has no brakes and now I'm super stoked for March!

Meh, another cinematic trailer. Would it kill them to show us some gameplay? The VGA trailer was gameplay. in any case, I think for the gameplay we need to wait for the 10-15 minute gameplay vide to come out, because with the trailers is unlikely we'll understand fully how the system works.

This is perhaps my favourite part of the whole trailer, Liam seems like a real bro, a mate who you can depend on and isn't afraid to throw jokes around the mess hall: his VA is excellent from what we've heard too: Garrus mk2 levels of bro Note: Here in New Zealand, we like to say bro a lot Meh, another cinematic trailer. Would it kill them to show us some gameplay? I'm going to go ahead and assume that you've seen the multiple gameplay trailers/demos that are out... right? (4K/TGAs/CES). We were due for a cinematic trailer, I think it delivers on all fronts and then some: and there's a lot to delve into lore/story/teaster wise

Give us some good videos on planetary exploration, combat mechanics, enemy behaviour, jetpack movement, weapons and multiplayer.

Give us some good videos on planetary exploration, combat mechanics, enemy behaviour, jetpack movement, weapons and multiplayer. I'm definitely down with this as well - that vertical slice ~15 minute gameplay video that Aaryn Flynn's mentioned a few times on GAF is just what the doctor ordered IMO. Something showing navigation, choice->consequence, inventory management, crafting, dialogue and crafting would be fab as fuck. I'd love to see how tech/biotic combos work in-game too, they seem to be more complex and structured than in the Trilogy, which makes my Biotic Balls tingle Hey, it just occurred to me there's another thing that's been bothering me about ME:A, though admittedly it's a bit silly. Everyone is too damn young! All these guys look like they barely left high school! This bothered me as well, at first, then as I thought about it....they look about ~25ish to me (I'm 36 IRL), and to be fair, we're often playing >40+ protags in games of late, I actually find it kind of refreshing to look more, refreshed you could say. JRPGs have always been youth orientated, it's kind of cool for a Western RPG to be youthful for once I must say. Oh, obligatory "Stay off my Grass!!!" since I'm a bit ancient

Hey, it just occurred to me there's another thing that's been bothering me about ME:A, though admittedly it's a bit silly. Everyone is too damn young! All these guys look like they barely left high school! My understanding is that the crew this time around is supposed to be more of a younger, untested crew rather than the bunch of largely combat vets we got in the original trilogy. I just hope they don't try to play up the whole inexperienced angle. It rarely ever works very well in a game that has skill based combat when you've got a character that acts like they don't know what they're doing in cutscenes and then fighting like they've been N7 for 20 years once I get control of them.

All these guys look like they barely left high school! I think there's some logic to that really. The notion that the cast are fresh and new to it is intended to help us as players explore the world as the squad would essentially be in the same position as us when it comes to Andromeda, an that's something that can't quite so easily be achieved when you're a highly decorated hard-ass marine for example. Beyond that, the young are generally more inquisitive and more likely to travel the world etc so the likelihood of a lot of the staff on a voyage of discovery leaning towards the young side would seem plausible. Plus, if you're gonna be populating a new home a bunch of old farts aren't much use.

There will be a gameplay trailer (another one) eventually, there is not a single doubt about that. A cinematic trailer on a game franchise which had always been focused on the story seems to be a rational thing to do. There will be a focused gameplay trailer, why should we care in which order as long as it will be displayed ? Will that have any effect on how we will experience the game ? Same thing with whose turn is this (Sara or Scott). Firstly we will saw each one before launch and we will have always the 10 hour trial which is more than enough. Ugh, I feel like it's complaining for the sake of complaining.

no, I would not want go be the dominant force but I would like to be FEARED. In Halo When the Sangheili attacked the Legkolo world they found themselves getting their asses kicked routinely on the ground because the legkolo were TRILLIONS and collectively in their Meglegkolo forms way too strong to overpower....but the sangheili had the technological upper hand enough that they could obliterate their world from orbit. News flash we could too but either A: We were too dumb to bring over a dreadnought or B: The Andromeda Aliens are as tech advanced as us AND more numerous...thus making us the underdogs again. So, we're the aliens, essentially the "invading force" even if invasion isn't quite the goal. I'd say we have to establish ourselves before anyone will fear us. Also, if they fear us it really does make us the bad guys. To be feared we'd have to aggressively attack any potential threats. Coming into Andromeda, everyone is a potential threat. That would make us lots of unnecessary enemies. no but we could give a show of force. Like a single shot to a desert island that levels the entire region or something to show that if you fuck with humanity you risk your capital to be next. Point is...Bioware has gone to great lenghts to make sure we are arriving in a place where we are already the underdogs as opposed to a conquistadores kind of scenario in which Yes we are WAY less than the indigenous population but far superior technologically. And worse....we did not bring ANY of our big guns because...hey, who needs preparedness?
