At least it would be if it wasn't for the great story. I do find the combat clunky and have to take it down to easy setting.
Do you feel the same?

Yep. It's more formulaic, and I get bored in the Citadel tbh. Too big.
So easy mode, let my team go ahead of me and hide behind them with a sniper rifle half asleep and not paying attention...that helps. Last run I did 100% of the game, but going forward I'm going to take a very hands off approach. A lot of it just isn't necessary unless you really want to explore planets. Not sure if it's possible but if the gibbed editor can say you did ME1 side quests when you actually didn't, I may cheat next time and tick a few boxes.

Not really
When I play ME1, at least for most playthroughs, I speed through the game. I don't bother with any side missions unless I like to see Conrad and Jenna in ME3, than I will do those side missions. Otherwise I just focus on the main quests

Early game to the end of the first story planet on new character insanity is pretty tedious. Overall it isn't so bad, but I do tend to get a little demotivated right before Virmire.

Whenever I finish ME3 and get back into ME1 again I think about the clunky combat and how different it will feel. As soon as I start it I still find it oddly charming. Yes, it's clunky and old, but I still enjoy playing ME1 a lot

I would say it feels like a chore...after your 1st playthrough. I 1st tried ME1 when it 1st was originally released..was that 2007? I remember I rented it from blockbuster ...brought it home... and what made me stop playing was after the 1st mission ..when you are on the citadel...all of those fetch quests...they bored me to the point I quit and returned it. Fast forward to the summer of 2012. I found it at a media exchange store in a bargain bin for 50 cents .....That is correct.. 50 god damn cents. I bought it, went home..I fell in love with it as I took my time to listen and learn everything in those same damn fetch quests that I hated.

Sometimes it just takes a bit of patience and a different perspective to get into a game. The same kinda thing happened to me regarding the Dragon Age series. I played ME1 to death and loved the hell out of it and wanted another Bioware game. Found out about DAO and purchased it and turned it on and then got stuck in the castle playing a human noble...got lost and felt like wtfffff going around in circles bc there was no map plotting/cursor like there was in ME1. Stopped playing the game- ME2 dropped- and then after a few play throughs of ME2 I got bored again and retried DAO and the magic happened. The brown graphics, the lack of map cursor convenience thingy, was neglible to the enjoyment I got out of the game via dialogue and characters. So- to be OT- I would find ME1 hard to replay at this point. It's been years since I touched it and I know the game like the back of my hand it would be difficult to retread it. I had considered doing it since I'm injured right now (broken ankle and months of bed rest at this point) but I got sucked into a DA2----> DAI play through

Last week I rushed through ME1 in under 10 hours. Does that tell you how I feel about the game? If it wasn't for the story and the characters (and my ability to keep wrex alive without giving ea money for the genesis dlc) I would not play it, I think.

I did have fun during my 2nd playthru ...It was me, suit rat and space turtle running around with shotguns the entire game. I think once you get into the story and learn about each individual species and the lore......that the games doesn't become a chore on your 1st run-thru..If nothing else, that should actually excite you and make you want to complete every single side-quest and make you want to explore every single thing in the game ..like it did with me.

Yeah I wish there was a "storymode" version of ME1 that just cut it down to cutscenes LOL. I already got almost every achievement out of ME1 including Insanity sooo storymode pls.

Maybe a bit off topic but my brain also has to adjust to the weird animations in cutscenes compared to other games of that generation. Very robotic and creepy at times when they turn their heads... but i get used to it. The thing is that i only bought ME1 and ME2 a few years back on a sale without knowing what it was and got sucked into the story pretty fast. I still need to (and don't shoot me aaiight) buy the 3rd game so maybe i'll get back to this post in full agreement

I only find it that way if I still do all the planetary exploration since there isn't much to actually find for all that driving. In no way will you need the gear. The only other thing I don't like is when enemies get that Soldier ability to become almost invincible. It has the best story, world-building, and antagonists in the Trilogy. Virmire might be the best thing in the entire Trilogy, between the death of a squadmate, the first confrontation with Saren, and, my favorite, the conversation with Sovereign.

I do the driving to get all the minerals and crates mainly for the XP. And because I just have to do it for some reason. It helps if you have maps to all the uncharted worlds.

I find the hard chore for me is actually ME2. Love ME1 with all its flaws and love ME3 even with its less than wonderful ending, but to get to 3 I have to grit my teeth and just power through ME2, letting any character I don't really care about (*hint* its nearly all the new ones) die because I won't do their loyalty missions.

Yeah, if you don't like the characters then ME2 has nothing for you. I can see where that would make it a slog.

Even tho ME1's gameplay isn't all that great objectively, certain elements do have their charm and fun, like how the pistol can be turned into a pin point accurate LMG of death.

It's hard to go back to the gameplay of ME1 after you've played 2 and 3.

It's hard to go back to the gameplay of ME1 after you've played 2 and 3. Or when your playing the DA series...

The only chore for me is the side missions, well getting to them. I love the Citadel and all the people you interact with there, the pace and the way conversations were more focused. With ME2 the only chore is gettingOverlord and Firewalker out of the way.

In the beggining of the year I've played ME1 with HD textures for the first time and it was a blast, it really felt like a new game.

The story and chars are fine. Exploration is fine, I don't mind the planets...I do mind the Mako. I found gameplay a bore and kept wanting to do biotic combos in a recent PT.

I enjoy ME1 quite a lot and find it easy to get through. It probably helps that I really enjoy its exploration atmosphere. ME3 is the one that is hard for me.

Parts of it definitely drag, the Citadel especially plus when your thoroughly exploring uncharted worlds.

My last few playthroughs I certainly noticed I sped through as much of the content as quickly as I could. I lost all my ME1 and 2 save info a few years back, and there are some things I just can't be bothered with doing again, like getting all the companion achievements again. I was not particularly thrilled when I realized I had missed some plot points (like Conrad) from taking it too fast.
To be fair, though, I think that was more reflective of the fact that I finally got all the ME2 DLC on PC (that I cared to get) and wanted to play it through with new characters (I've had most of the bells and whistles on the PS3 version of ME2 for years and hated paying for it twice, even if PC is my platform of choice).
So, yeah, ME1 feels like a chore to me right now, even if I still love the story.
