Yeah, that was hilarious and it keeps going when you get on the ship and you and your other teammates tell her everything about the reapers and give her all the answers she has been devoting most of her life trying to discover. Poor Liara, i think doing it last cuts off her romance too, if you wanted to do that, best to get her early. But her response to you blundering into the answers to her life's work is priceless. Its also the only time Shepard can be mean to her

It wasn't a bad game but it is my least favourite in the franchise.

I'm glad I found this thread. I just completed ME1 for the first time and I enjoyed the story but not really the game play. It kind of made me feel guilty in a way. Whenever I finish playing DAO I immediately want to play another round, yet I was kind of happy to move on tbh even though the plot is engaging. If I wasn't such a believer that the game picks up I wouldn't have continued. I think the gameplay of DAO is far more dated and taxing than that of Mass Effect. Just my opinion, though. edit: I felt compelled to specify that both are on my very short list of GoAT games, regardless of dated gameplay mechanics.

If you decide to play ME1 again or continue with the same character in ME2, you can post your playthrough in the ME3 section. You can also do the same with DA. Post your playthrough in the DAI general discussion section

I thought it was funny when Cassandra had the overly exaggerated "Deal with it" in DAI.

It's been a couple years since I've played ME1 but I never got tired of it. Frustrated with the Mako, annoyed at the Council, smh at Conrad, raging at enemies spamming immunity on Insanity....definitely. I always remap my key bindings to match 2 and 3 (makes thing soooo much easier) and then I get to exploring. I think it was several PTs in before I noticed the giant canyon on Klendagon. Reminded me of Valles Marineris on Mars. Very cool to have it referenced later on in ME2 and be able to say, "Oh yeah, I remember seeing that when I was on the moon there."

In a way I do understand what people mean when they say they don't like ME1 combat. I do like the action feel of ME2 and 3. However, thermal clips suck and I loved the ME1 guns.

Any section where I have to drive the Mako is a chore tbh, mostly i just speed though as quickly as possible but the controls are just so janky. The Citadel side missions are fun though, even if fast travel is anything but fast.

I know I'm in the minority, but I've always really loved the Mako's controls. It handles exactly how it looks. I'm able to drive it masterfully, and that's not idle boasting. I think most players' issues are more with the overly mountainous terrain, than with the Mako itself.
I'm not saying I won't enjoy the new MEA Mako that handles like a high-performance vehicle. That will be awesome. I do kind of hope that they will change its name, though, before launch. We already know what the M35 Mako is. Using the same designation for another, different vehicle is nonsensical in-game. I'm hoping it's strictly for pre-release marketing purposes, and will not be called such in-game.

I quite like the fast, fluid and natural pace of me1 combat. Sometimes it s just going wrong on insanity early on and u have to reload, but all in all, i still love it. Patrolling planets though ... I think i use to cheat, then didnt care, but i might have done absolutely everything last time (maps provided though)

I agree with Element ZEro, the Mako is controllable.Despite the first hours, it was bouncing like a cat playing with a rubberball. If you want a co-pilot I'm yours! Personally, when it comes to ME1, instinctively I think of the music! I love walking through the Normandy especially for the ambiance, I miss this on other episodes. And it's the beginning of the story, all is beatiful.. ME2 is a little too simplified regarding the RPG aspect, it's like you said: "That' all?!", but I love the rhythm, the fights, I actually play it like a FPS: without using the competences at least. I get nuked often, but that's great! ME3 I love the increase in the tactic used by the ennemies.

I was annoyed at the Mako at first too, but I can handle it better each time. I have found out it's more due to the terrain sometimes and not the Mako controls themselves. Can't wait to try the new one. Ah, the Mako...

Driving the mako using a keyboard/mouse sucked. When ME1 became available for the ps3, it was a lot easier to drive when using a controller
One of the best things is if you hit an armature hard enough, it will be knocked backwards into the lava on Therum. excellent.

The biggest problem with ME1 combat is the weapon cooldowns. I find it really hard to believe that in 170 or so years small arms technology "progressed" to the point where it takes longer for it to cool down than it takes to reload pretty much any modern magazine fed rifle.

I much prefer the Mako controls with keyboard and mouse as the vehicle and cannon can be operated separately, which makes taking down turrets far easier.

I didn't have much problem driving the Mako on PC. Suspension is overly bouncy sometimes though.
I think the real issue had to do with how the terrain was designed for the side planets. While there was typically a relatively gentle path to everything, this wasn't always obvious. Much of the rest of the terrain was extremely steep.

While we're on the topic of ME1, did anyone else boot up Origin today only to find they'd got a free copy of the first game? I, in fact, own ME1 but have it on disks. I bought both ME2 and ME3 on disk too but ME3 instlls Origin for you anyway. But it was the only one of the three to show. But I started Origin today only to see a copy of ME1 with a 'new' tag. I mean that's fine. I might even download the thing (for old time's sake) and have a go but I was surprised.

I always like that the squad mates will comment, though it's interesting that nobody bats an eye when you mercilessly gun them down in the second game.
