BioWare blog entry today about New IP. Possibly Multiplayer game

Actually, this pretty much describes NwN and BG (yeah, I know, it's 'turn-based', but let's face the facts - hack'n'slashy dungeon crawl is still hack-n-slash dungeon crawl, even with D20).  Jade Empire also fits perfectly well ( minus the 'multiplayer').


I don't see why would coop or action be mutually exclusive with nice story, good characters and roleplay.  SWTOR had tried to cover the 'story-based MMO', but F2P is poisonous. If they make a solid coop-able full-scale single player (+expansions) - I'm all for it. Writing a whole new setting is risky though. They've already got two 'big' and long-lasting worlds running (DA, ME). It would have to compete with those.  

Linkenski is still blowing things out of proportion I see. All new BSN, same old shitposters.

I do understand your concern, but to be fair, it is still a BW game.

How can people play at a Casino if it is running in maintenance mode?

Is it more like stagnant mode for the people who do the PVE side?

I never did really get anywhere with the game.
The leveling and game-play mechanics were a chore.
Ironically I went to STO instead.

Oh, please, please, merge all those emerging threads about the new IP. It is hard to keep track of them in three different subforums. I beg you, moderators!

It's 5 years MMO, and it's outlived it's active cycle. I have had a blast in it for a couple of years, but like all MMO nowadays it simply cannot go on forever, particularly not with replicating the kind of quality it delivered on release.

I have never seen a game that was more ambitious and well-made than SWTOR, with as many options for entertainment while maintaining 8 separate but together storylines. I had a blast with pvp, ops, GSF and all the class stories and acquisition ladders.

SWTOR is a unique genre, and any Bio fan gotta check out the solo stories. But as a MMO, it's cycle is on the wane. I'd love for them to drop it into a B2P single-player mode. I am positive a lot of SW and Bio fans will enjoy a whirl through the planets.

I've tried a couple of other MMOs, and i found out that I loved SWTOR, not MMOs.

I think the lean towards different forms of multiplayer reflects the overall decline in desire for playing classic MMOs that by now offer nothing new, but require putting time in low quality grind pass times. And the abundance of crappy F2P titles that find scamming ways to make money create cheap, distasteful fakes.

SWTOR was golden in its quality and ideals for a long, long time. I wish they let it go gracefully, instead of emulating the lowbrow competition.

I don't have a problem with BioWare branching out. They can be innovative when they want. I'll withhold an opinion until they release more solid info on it.

I wont argue with you there. As much as i badmouth swtor in its current state, as I said, I still play it. And what angers me the most about it, is that the game started so well and had so much potential. I honestly wouldnt mind seeing a SWTOR2 come out instead of the super secret IP. I would LOVE IT, if it were done right and in FB3 engine (cause swtor engine was probably the worst decision they ever made in development).

There is no doubt tho, that as far as mmo stories go, no other mmo can even reach swtor (let me add, that is my opinion, not a fact ) The class stories, even the planet stories were quite good and immersive for an mmo. The chapter stories are also quite good, but not nearly enough to keep the mmo crowd engaged for more than a couple weeks...

Yeah that line really killed interest in me. Seems a clear decision for a MP focused game rather than a single player game with an optional MP element.

There is the word "action" so it translates to unplayable and unworthy/undeserving of existing. Also means... who cares?
Also multiplayer... who the f*ck wants to deal with humans? Humans start with H same as Hell or Hitler, that's how awful humans are, so, why bother?

Might be good to mix it up.

I suspect it's a sort of Uncharted/Assassins Creed style game with co-op we shall see.
