Actually, I've been pretty pleased with the way the games marketing has been so far. Enough to be tantalizing, not so much that plot spoilers are being seen. I'm not a fan of marketing where you know half the story before the game is actually released. That's not what people are asking for. They want to see gameplay so they can get a sense of how ME:A is different from the previous ME games.

Marketing and hair were -up to now- the weakest links in Bioware's arsenal DAI's marketing was excellent. It even got me to pre-order it because the reviews came out days before the game's release and I liked what I saw. And I don't regret it.

Most people are saying that the initiative videos were the best and were the ones that got you hyped, while the rest of the videos were so and so... You do realize that the initiative ones were CGI, right? We watched footage with incredibly crisp graphics, perfect lighting and zero aliasing but it's not in game footage.
Then, before we even get an unedited, lengthy, real gameplay video, they put out a pre-order video featuring 2 seconds of gameplay. Pre-order what? The game you haven't shown me?
Having shown us that little with half of it not even being in game, I get it that many of the potential buyers might feel uncertain.
We, the hardcore fans of the series are gonna buy the title anyway but we are just a minority. BW must really show off their game starting from this month. I really hope they do.
If they don't then I really do hope that whenever that closed beta thing starts some of the testers will start streaming.

I'm easy to please. I've liked most of the videos so far, but I've liked the initiative ones for a different reason than the rest. Lore.
When I play RPGs, I try to get as lost as I can in the lore of the games while I work my way through them. To me, the initiative videos are the first taste of that for MEA.
In universe, the videos are aimed at recruiting people to the mission and explain the details of that mission. Out of universe, the videos are aimed at recruiting players to the game and explain, in broad terms, the basic premise of how the game will start. It's a nice parallel that draws me into the lore of the new game without getting too deep into spoiler territory. It get's me excited without ruining any of the experience, which is why I find it effective.
I'm still hoping for a more detailed look at gameplay before launch, but after I see a little more to explain the mechanics of the game, I plan to go dark until launch to avoid spoilers. (At least I plan to try and go dark.)

I think you can get a pretty good idea of how MEA's gameplay is going to look like by watching the recent trailers and playing ME3.

I have seen a Charge, and a Nova. These two things actually mean I might, MIGHT, buy this game.
If I had seen more, I might have been tempted to buy the game at full price.
Lolnope.

So I guess this is not good enough?
Admittedly, it's better than this ever was, mainly because most of this didn't make the game as we saw it.

Personally, I've been avoiding most of the trailers/spoilers/ect., so the lack of game-play footage rates a strong, "Meh," from me.
I'm trying to go in with as few expectations as possible, so, hopefully, I'll be pleasantly surprised in March.

A lot of that ME1 E3 stuff would have been scrapped because it had to run on the xbox. A PC exclusive probably would have looked like that.

I do want to see more game play and get more of a feel of the companions we have. I would also like to know the romance status of our companions. That's it. I did completely follow DAI and felt it spoiled for me a little., which was my own fault. I felt like I knew too much going in. I'm fine the way they are doing it with MEA. If they start revealing too much, I will probably go dark this time. I'm sure we'll start seeing more now until release.

They changed a little of Scott's face, didn't they? The hair was tweaked a bit and they put blue eyes on him, instead of brown, as showed before.
Makes you wonder if we won't get a completely different face in the end, for both twins. Same as default papa.

DA:O released plenty of info and built alot of hype prior to it's release so this lack of gameplay from ME:A is really worrying me, tbh i'm not expecting anything more than open world me3 at this point.

BioWare has released something like 15 minutes of gameplay videos so far which is, for me anyway, more than enough. Like I said, I think the marketing has been enough to tantalize but not give away the whole story.

The gameplay trailer is there, some people are just being butthurt cause they haven't seen the entire game yet. No, I don't want to see the entire game. In fact I don't want to see anything that has to do with the story or the characters, I think we already know too much about that and it's getting spoilery. I just want some real gameplay video footage with continuous unedited action, not edited flashes of gameplay. There are still many unanswered questions regarding basic gameplay mechanics. We don't even know if or how we can give some kind of orders to our squad, we don't even know how many powers we can use. We've seen videos where a button from the d-pad was flashing on the screen and no one explained what that was. We've seen videos where we were alone the entire time, our squadies were invisible. Even the little boxes next to their avatars are always greyed out by Bioware on purpose. So, no, we haven't seen how the game plays yet because Bioware has chosen not to show us the whole picture yet. I hope we will find out more in the weeks to come...

Reading this thread its pretty clear BioWare cannot please everyone who wants releases to suit their personal tastes. Some people are fine with the marketing and others are not and to me both are fine, but there is no way to please both sides.
I do wonder if a lot of this lack of media is partly to blame because of the unofficial release of the Crestwood video from Dragon Age: Inquisition or how people were trying to file lawsuits or federal complaints over Mass Effect 3. Being a company with shareholders I could see EA not wanting any footage released until it is 100% certain it will be in the final game because they don't want to risk a lawsuit that could be in the millions of dollars.

I know that everyone had gripes about the massive amount of changes with the pre-release ME1 compared to the actual finished product, but the same did not really occur with ME2 & ME3. For both of those games, a year before release, we had seen full-fledged gameplay demos of a solid section of the game, not just a bunch of cut & pasted clips. I remember at E2 that Bioware was constantly demonstrating the ME2 mission where you end up recruiting Thane....and compared to the final product, they showed over 1/3 of that mission alone. It was a good, hefty demo that showcased a lot of the combat, customization, changes to the dialog system and the direction of ME2's plot.
The big difference this time around is that instead of having a 20-min demo that shows all of that, we've gotten the same information from 8-10 two-minute trailers, so it's hard to accept the cumulative effect. I think that Bioware/EA have learned from the mistakes from marketing ME1, the "choices" in ME3, and gameplay from DA:I in order to not show your hand too soon, but the industry wide affect on marketing caused by No Man's Sky HAS to have also weighed at least partially on their decisions to hold back.
But still, Bioware should recognize that while it may be the "correct" decision for development, it may not be the best decision for sales. Lack of information does not help sell your product and nearly half of a video game's sales occur in the first 3.5 weeks of launch. That's not a lot of time to build up a marketing push after a game comes out.

Here it is Everything in this video was in the game, it's not like they showed features that were cut like in that Crestwood video for DA:I. The narration was misleading, but that's PR talk for you. I don't like it but companies do that all the time.

You pick those dialogue options in the game and as far as I can remember the dialogue plays out exactly that way in the game. I am not exactly sure where you thought there would be repercussion for that choice either, they said the game "reacts" to your choices and it does by having the NPC's react differently to what Shepard says. So it comes down to how your read into the video and not that they mislead people, for the game seemed to be exactly what they described in that video to me. Edit: If you meant that Thessia mission was short, I would agree, but they never said in that video that it would be a major part of the game either just how the game's dialogue tree would react based on the input you select.
