Ooh, thanks for the answer. I don't have "From Ashes," but since this is at least the second or third recommendation for it, I will probably get it. Can I play it at any time during the game? I think "Frost Ashes" was a day one DLC, meaning it was released on the same day as the game. People have concluded (or maybe it's confirmed) that it was originally part of the game and was removed in order to make it DLC. I find it essential for the overall storyline. Same with "Leviathan". So much more is revealed to us. "Citadel" is also great, though not storyline essential. It's a lot of fun. I do have Leviathan and Citadel. I will buy From Ashes in a few days. I'm away for work at the moment and I guess I'm a bit wary of sending my credit card info over hotel wifi. Maybe I just need to get over it

I have not been to Surkesh yet. It's the next priority mission in my journal, though. My bad for assuming that you have been. Since you will be starting that mission later, you will learn if Maelon's data was kept or deleted. Her initial post shows what was imported. It says she saved Maelon's data.

How could you not keep track of all that?! I never kept track of her what she did with the loyalty missions in ME2 except Tali and Legion's It helps, but it still leaves her with the choice to choose what she wants to do.

I miss being able to see interactable items from far away as in ME2. Do any of you happen to know of a mod that addresses this? I know main mission items are highlighted with the M key, but other things you have to be practically on top of in order to know it's there. I feel like I'm probably missing a lot of loot. I don't know about mods for it... I just learned quickly to walk around and into every corner each time I cleared an area of enemies before moving onto the next space. I find it equally frustrating in ME3 that sometimes I have to fiddle around a bit to highlight that red circle just right before I can actually collect the item... so what was frequently happening before I started checking so carefully was that I was clicking on a red circle that wasn't fully highlighted and not collecting the item even after I had found it. Another issue with the Trilogy boxed set on the Xbox is that loot you do collect will sometimes not actually get recorded into your inventory. I found this out after having play original disks for a long time and then buying the Trilogy boxed set because the disks I had were getting damaged (curses to the Xbox 360 Slim disk drive)... anyway, when I hit the weapons bench at the Citadel Shooting Range after completing the Mars Mission, I noticed that I was missing most of the mods I know I had collected on that mission (and after playing through 25 times or so, I do know what I should have collected by that point). I honestly don't know if it affects other Trilogy boxed sets made for other platforms or any of the downloaded editions.

So I'm taking a break from my DAO playthrough to play ME3. This will be a new game plus on insanity mode. The Shepard I'm playing is an adept. I have no idea what squadmates will be from ME2 since the last time I played this Shepard was Nov 2012. I will also only use powers and no weapons except for when the game forces the issue.
The reason why I'm playing ME3? Reading this thread just got me in the mood to play ME3

6 wks till Andromeda release. I figure I'll finish my ME2 game by this weekend, then another 2 wks or so for ME3. Don't know what I'm gonna do after that.....maybe some MP to get back in practice.

If anyone is on total Andromeda blackout, then don't read this post. The little bits I've absorbed through osmosis are recounted here. I haven't been keeping up with Andromeda news. I know it takes place in the Andromeda galaxy (I mean, I guess??), there's an asari whose picture is all over the place, and, as my Google Now chose to inform me, she is romance-able. Thanks for the useful info, Google. and the protagonists are twins as I learned from a couple of thread titles. So I assume it takes place in the future, if these species managed to travel to another galaxy? If the answer is somehow spoilery for ME3, then nevermind. I'm sure I'll play Andromeda eventually, but maybe not at release. We'll see.

It is 600 years in the future because of the space travel aspect and cryogenesis but when these people left it was 2185 - around the time of ME2. I'm not going to spoil more than that.

All the Shepard VI does is introduce herself This is unacceptable. I want to be able to ask myself questions, insult myself, criticize myself for saying things I'd never say, maybe have a copy of myself aboard the ship. Total missed opportunity. I do love running into squad mates around Citadel, though. Garrus said he needs Shepard. If that's not a romance-only line, don't burst my bubble. Just let me go on believing.

No bubble to burst - it's romance only though there is a different version for non-romance. I just got my Garrusmance started in ME2 but have to do mandatory mission #2 before I can continue it.
Glad you got From Ashes. The squadmate it adds is a great addition, though I realize he can rub some folks the wrong way. He has some really good lines and entertaining interactions with the rest of the crew and on the Citadel.
Oh, one more thing - keep clicking on the VI - it should have different things to say eventually. Not sure if you have to increase your rep or just leave and come back later.
Tip: as you wander the Citadel, you will be able to overhear various conversations between NPCs. Each time you leave the area and go back, the conversations will progress. Some of these will eventually lead to options for you to pick from at the SpecTRe terminal.

I've done several minor missions, including securing the Drell and Hanar forces, getting weapons for C-Sec and thus saving General Oraka, and raiding the Cerberus lab for some artifacts. I just saw a message from Miranda, so when I head back to Citadel I will see what lies she has to tell me what she wants. I just want to make sure I didn't screw something up when buff-boy in the cargo hold flirted with Shepard. Garrus's dialogue when clicking on him in the battery is a cool "not right now," and I'm pretty sure I just heard Liara invite him to her cabin. Do I have to kill her now? (Kidding...?) melbella I have noticed some conversations progress already That's a cool touch. I hadn't thought to check the Spectre terminal again, so I'll make sure I keep doing that as well.

dragontartare Nope, you are fine. James is a flirt but he can't break up Garrus and Shepard. After a future "Priority" mission you will get the chance to "lock in" with Garrus. He says "not right now" a lot. Just click on him after every mission (big and small) in case he has something new to say.

The entire Shepard VI thing was just weird. You could conceivably have received a copy of it from Mouse in ME2. Yet, even there, you don't get to do anything, not even put it in your room like you can your helmet or the Prothean sphere. It just ceases to exist. With that failure in mind it made less sense to revisit it in ME3.

melbella I have noticed some conversations progress already That's a cool touch. I hadn't thought to check the Spectre terminal again, so I'll make sure I keep doing that as well. War assets can be won or lost depending on how you use the Spectre terminal. It's a good idea to check it. Also, missed quest items can be found there - and are equally accessible from the procurement terminal in the Shuttle Bay.

I just saw a message from Miranda, so when I head back to Citadel I will see what lies she has to tell me what she wants. When you say you secured Drell and Hanar forces, that means the salarian spectre you worked with died? big time spoiler in regards to the above Since you didn't have Kasumi in ME2, she would've helped with that side mission. You would get her as a war asset and the salarian would lived giving you even more assets. I mention this since you might want to get her dlc if you decide to replay ME2. There are conversations that you will overhear when walking around the Citadel. Depending on what you choose to do/say could have a negative impact on your war assets. If you're unsure about what to do when hearing a conversation, you can go to this thread to see what impact choosing one side vs the other would have. You can always go back to that conversation a few moments later. Agreed. If someone never met mouse during their ME2 playthrough or didn't complete the dlc to get the helmet or sphere, it wouldn't be weird for them. Plus someone who played ME3 first wouldn't know about those things

Yes, the salarian spectre is dead, unfortunately. I see there is an iOS game to help raise the war readiness %, so I will check that out on my iPad if it is still available. -------- EDI: Don't worry Shepard, I only forget to recycle the Normandy's oxygen when I discover something truly interesting. Shepard: *look of horror* Edit: Um...why does Samantha's toothbrush use mass effect fields and cost thousands of credits? What kind of plaque does she have??

Edit: Um...why does Samantha's toothbrush use mass effect fields and cost thousands of credits? What kind of plaque does she have?? Ha. She likes keeping her teeth clean. My first playthrough I laughed when she mentioned how much she paid for it. It's her credits. Let her spend it on whatever she likes. The next time I went to the Citadel, I looked at every store to buy her the toothbrush with no luck. It does play a role later in the game. You will hear about the toothbrush again later in the game.

Neither iPad app exists any longer. I may look for a mod to raise my readiness percent then, if one even exists. I really don't want to cling to a guide this entire playthrough just to keep Shepard alive at the end. --------- These creepsters at the tungsten mine are making me laugh, and I don't think that's the intent

I really don't want to cling to a guide this entire playthrough just to keep Shepard alive at the end. Never heard of a mod that can raise your galactic readiness. With what you did in ME2 and what you will be able to do in ME3, I'm sure you will have more than enough to get that ending. Not sure what point in the game you're currently at, but I'm sure you still have a lot left to complete?
