Aaah, 183 pull-ups, almost as mind numbing as the mini-game it references!

I think for this one, you have to decide if you want to play it aggressively, relying on damage to hold your ground, or defensively, preparing to move a lot and placing emphasis on survivability. True to my name, I went for the second option. AR is great for providing the extra durability to run across the map under ravager's fire - just remember to hit it before you are shield gated. I took the Revenant and it was painful, if I were to redo it (no chance) I'd probably switch to the Katana. I used inc ammo, and mostly detonated with carnage. Grenades were my panic-button. This is probably the only non-geth challenge where I used survivor loadout.
This is far from an ideal setup dps-wise, but I am not very good at holding places, and I prefer to relocate early and often. Doing that here means exposing yourself to a lot of ravager's fire, which can quickly drain you of consumables.

Arkhne, I understand the extra problems plaguing PS3 players ; there's very little laughing going on in the themed challenge thread however - it's as friendly a community as I have ever seen. As an example, most solos on Giant Hazard have the options of using the regular Giant map for PS3 users - and I am sure that if we were to get more people from that platform attempting challenges and giving feedback, we'd be willing to adjust more rules to accomodate for the technical difficulties you are subjected to
I actually almost submitted a "collectors' protocol" version of the Tales from the Trenches for PS3 users that'd allow using missiles on wave 8 instead of wave 3 (perhaps just one?), then rejected it because I don't exactly know how PS3 games flow. Should you decide to give it a try (wink wink), I'd be happy to hear your feedback!

... or you know, you could plug your controller into a pc, use mgamerz mod and join us in experiencing the many, many joys of Origin (tongue-in-cheek here, though I would actually like to play with you and other people from different platforms!)

BTW,what's your build and consumables?

We don't have it as bad on Xbox, but for me Goddess is a shit show. If I fight in the control room my FPS drops to single digits, same when shooting through the glass on Glacier. Xbox mem leak occurs after too many games in the same lobby, the game won't crash, but weird shit starts to happen (invis enemies/teammates, etc.).

Ohhh now that brings back memories! I remember having to quit lobbies due to invisible enemies, or having some very odd matches with invisible team mates, I felt soo cheated out of my consumables! I notice on PC the never ending loading screen when trying to join Condor in progress is still present, that was another annoying one.

muahmuah Thanks for the welcome. My PC manifest is at 56hours played currently, and I'm finishing off uncommon weapon unlocks in the hopes of getting more uncommon weapon mod rewards, it seems the store has low priority on weapon mods! I'm not confident to start on Gold attempts (I never completed a solo Platinum on 360) until I have some well leveled weapon mods. I'm playing nothing but Gold/Plat currently so I hope in the next 40ish hours to have weapon mods unlocked and leveled enough to start making attempts and learning.

Watching other peoples runs when I get some spare time is also proving very useful, making sure you can maximize all right hand advantage opportunities and keep checking flanks are things I know I'll need to work on.

No, I won't start redoing all those N7 challenges. Some of them were pain even on Silver dammit! and I'm not a solo type of player. But I admire your strength Doc. Hell, everyone who complete this series on Gold should receive a goddamn medal for it. And I don't want to even think about Platinum...

Arkhne the challenges are doable on ps3 but there are some painful ones. You'll just have to reset between attempts, or complete on first try

I've done a few of the duo challenges on there and they weren't so bad.

Well, The 7 Tiers of Neufchatel was meant as a Bonus Mini Series to celebrate 100 000 views of the challenge thread.
If you had done as much challenges as most of the posters above you for the themed challenge thread, maybe you would have appreciated a "somewhat more op challenge" as well. Even some of the (imho) best gamers in this forum seemed to see it that way and submitted runs for it.

TL;DR: If you don't like it - and not even attempted it, don't judge it.


Out of curiosity: why Shredder Mod instead of High Velocity Barrel?

I don't consider those matchups OP, just sickening. I will consistently play better, and kill more, faster, with Raider EDI than Reegar EDI, same goes for Lancer TGI vs Harrier TGI.

Eh, Shreder vs HVB changes based on how I feel at the time (Sometimes I even weight glitch HVB), doesn't really make much difference (On Gold), imho, the cheese takes care of everything.

But seriously, you haven't played with me. I'm a real scrub when it comes to doing some hard duo/solo challenges. Muahmuah can confirm it haha. And today Docsteely helped me with my BF3 Soldier practice. Well, with teammates Katana vs. gold Reapers is okay-ish. I won't touch Revenant even with the stick though. There's no real reason to use this... gun. It's not like the best AR in the game right? But it slows you down while firing. Why? Even freaking, heavier Typhoon doesn't do that. Also just a couple a minutes ago, I failed at accomplishing 15.I challenge from Hamletic's series. Wave 8 Plat/Rio/Collectors and I was raped by Primes, Pyros and Troopers + lag ofc. That was nice run tbh but ultimately we failed

And I should wait till you finish your run, then you can give me some tips okay?  Coz you're about to finish it, right?

thank you both for the advice, much appreicated i am indeed reaching that point again where i'd need to try a different approach. i will try Mantis even if only for a change of pace as well as give my my click fingers a chance to recover from all the Mattocking. hehe i got really close to macroing damn thing have to say. i have considered Mantis run previously but the deterrent has been the mission's medal requirements. my killstreak confidence is non existent to the point where i don't ever rely on getting that medal, and it's highly doubtful i get the 10 ws. which leaves me with the grabs/headshots/kills (easy enough) and either a weapon or a power kills. a gold medal of techbursts alone is again highly unlikely (combat powers... sigh thanks BW) which leaves me with the sniper kills. I'll see how far milking first five waves is going to get me since my Mantis drop rate goes down dramatically in the latter waves in favour of the powers/power combos. but that's okay since i now know it's going to be another hour+ runs for me so can easiliy take my time
