I totally flirted with James. And fighting while getting to know him is way more interesting than just standing there

I went through my entire first playthrough without my little meeper because I didn't know he was down there. Found him in my second run. The fish... it's possible to have them returned to you if Kelly was caring for them in 2 and she survived. Which I think both are true for you. She's on the Citadel, in an area that isn't open to you yet. There are also new fish to buy at the Citadel, with new ones added through the course of the game. And! An automatic fish-feeder!

I like Hackett way better than Anderson. Reunion with Garrus gave me some feels but they kept it short
Lololol "something about calibrations." "Sounds like Garrus."

Not quite my intent. I got Thane's letter and rushed to the hospital to meet with him. they got me teared up and it's not even his death scene yet. Oh man, am I going o cry hard. I can't believe I wasn't allowed visitation with my dying lover during house arrest. The doctors gave him 3 months to live 9 months ago! He could have died while I was in MY house! And here I was thinking we'd had 6 months of mornings together. At least he has that video quality memory to remember me. But we were supposed to go to the desert! Did we at least do that? Before I got arrested? I'm bemused. I had a thing for Kaidan bad from that scene at Horizon. But when he got all weird on Mars it kinda soured me. Not quite sure I'm okay with him again yet. I mean... I guess his suspicion was confirmed, in a way, when I was placed on house arrest and my ship taken. Then again, I met Thane AFTER Horizon so there is tht to have distracted my affections... But still... James seems cool too- between the muscle and crashing into things, I thought he'd be a less funny Grunt replacement. But he's got a brain in there. So there is competition for who will be my widow rebound.

But still... James seems cool too- between the muscle and crashing into things, I thought he'd be a less funny Grunt replacement. But he's got a brain in there. So there is competition for who will be my widow rebound. Actually, the reason Shepard was placed under house arrest is not because of the Cerberus affiliation in ME2... it's because of the events of a ME2 DLC you didn't play (but said DLC's events are part of the story canon, so you essentially missed the reason why Shepard is under arrest), so technically Kaidan's suspicion wasn't confirmed - assuming he's giving you a similar "Ya still with Cerberus?? Well are ya??" speech I got from Ashley. Spoiler about the DLC story "Arrival": Admiral Hackett asks Shepard to rescue one Dr. Amanda Kenson from the Batarians, who have arrested her under charges of terrorism. After rescuing Kenson, she takes Shepard to her research base, where she and her team have studied a reaper artifact they refer to as Object Rho. Kenson tells Shepard that the reapers are mere days away from pouring through this system's relay, called alpha relay, and would spread over the whole galaxy from here. As a last desperate way of delaying them, the asteroid the research base was built in has been fitted with thrusters so it can be launched into alpha relay to destroy it. However, since then Object Rho has indoctrinated Kenson and her entire team, who now await the reapers' glorious arrival instead of wanting to stop them. Shepard is overwhelmed, sedated and imprisoned but manages to flee soon after regaining consciousness. With mere hours left until the reapers arrive, Shepard activates the asteroid's thrusters. Since Kenson had cut all communications after Shepard's escape, there is no way to warn the 300,000 Batarian colonists in the system, who all die when alpha relay gets hit by the asteroid and explodes moments after the Normandy escapes through it. Shepard reports to Hackett and is informed that there will be an investigation on Earth.

There are definitely people outside the Normandy who know about it, though... even outside the Alliance, in fact. As I said, I don't know what Kaidan says on Mars - Ashley just kept going on about Cerberus, so she didn't know or didn't care.

As I said, I don't know what Kaidan says on Mars - Ashley just kept going on about Cerberus, so she didn't know or didn't care. Re the Arrival DLC: The leak occurs when Shepard goes on the radio to warn the Batarians or to call for the Normandy (as the case may be). The broadcast is heard throughout the system, Kenson names Shepard before the broadcast is cut off, and there are still ships going through the relay at that point... i.e. some leaving the system just on normal business. There is also enough time for some of the Batarians to make personal communications into other systems. Hackett does say that the "Batarians report no survivors from Arotoht" but he doesn't say that there were no communications from Arotoht in the moments before the Relay exploded. He does say there was "just enough evidence for a witch hunt." Re Ashley on Mars: She says almost exactly the same things as Kaidan. There's a couple of minor differences during the "do we still romance" conversation by the husk; but that's all.

So, as it is, Shepard is in custody because of... reasons. Yes, the dialogue with Anderson is different depending on whether or not the player did the DLC. Anderson just says "The shit you've done, any other Alliance officer would be court martialed and left to rot in the brig." If the player did not do the DLC, it is absolutely confirmed during the Ghorek side-quest later in the game that the Alliance destroyed the Relay, not Shepard. In that case, Shepard is aware of the event, but clearly had no participation in it.

There will be a few more shields introduced as you go farther into the game. Combat-wise though, ME3 is easier than ME2. For lots of explosion fun, try doing some power combos (for example, try hitting an enemy with James' Carnage ability followed immediately by hitting that same enemy with Liara's warp). There are lots of different ways powers can be chained to create big explosions and massive amounts of damage ... good to remember when you start facing some tougher enemies later on in the game. Another example, for shielded enemies: Overload + Carnage = explosion What makes some of those combos even more fun is that they will often damage other nearby enemies too. ..... ... Chain Overload + Carnage + Warp = (but alas, Infiltrator Shepard has to have the "right" bonus power; but engineers can partay).

I seem to remember it "reducing" one of the Alliance assets.

But, yeah, phoray would need to rely on a squadie -- so I hope you're taking notes.

Okay then! Impressions given, dinner eaten, phone used for making updates on thread is charging. [uLet's go start Mass Effect 3.[/u][/b] By the way, if I don't bawl big sad tears at Thane's death, I am crying foul. MAKE ME SAD BIOWARE. Then we know you've touched my heart. EDT add: Downgraded my huge text because I didn't start yet. Needed to install a controller mod.[/quote] I had six emotional highs in ME3 related to Thane. Will be interesting to see how you like that part of it, though you are going for Kaiden, so i don't know how the game will play out. Actually, if you still want to check out an actual BioWare game, I suggest Jade Empire. It was originally a console title, and it supports a controller in the PC version right from the game options as far as I can see. It is the last original BioWare title, and it had some nice humoresque.

But the more I thought about it I was like... Wait. I was barely back in spectre status and worked for another company on a their company provided ship and still managed to improve things for the Galaxy. What did I do to piss these folks off and why would I consent to an arrest and theft of my vehicle? Because regardless of what I did, they were planning on keeping the SR2 forever, obviously, since they upgraded it. And Shepherd stole it from Cerberus, a shadow company that doesn't exist but everyone knows about an has flight registration. So Anderson said grounded vacation as a civilian. Then James said I'd been watched closely. Then next thing that happens is she tells Thane she's been on house arrest 3 hours into the game

I guess for the Alliance, the fact that you - a former officer - worked openly with a terrorist organization and flew an illeagal military spec ship that is based on clsasified Alliance/Turian tech is probably reason enough to arrest you. It's a bit shady without Arrival. Arrival info upcoming, so spoiler (no ME3 spoilers here): With Arrival, it makes sense as Hackett outright tells Shepard they probably will have to put all the blame for the mess that happened in the Bahak system on Shepard alone in order to avoid all out war with the Batarians. Hackett basically asks Shepard to come back eventually and take one for the team on this one. A paragon Shepard would probably do that. The only weird thing about it is, if you play a renegade Shepard, you might not think it would fit Shep's character to just submit to the Alliance and let yourself be arrested. In this case, somehow, the Alliance must have captured you, which means they must have been able to find the Normandy despite its stealth capability. Given that the Alliance and the turians developed the technology in the first place, thye may have found a way around it but in any case, how exactly Shepard got arrested is never made entirely clear AFAIK.
