Did you tell Kelly to change her ID? EMS. If you don't look at it every now and then, your will get a critical mission failure screen. Unfortunately ems is very critical to the game. Its a number that determines this, that and the other thing. I like the idea of it. I didn't like how it was executed in ME3

Do I ever actually need to look at the war assets? Since it's your first playthrough and the progression is actually meaningless to you (i.e. you don't have a clue where you "should" be at different points in the game... I would say that there is really only 1 critical time where you need to look at your war assets... and that's before proceeding into the end game. Why, because it determines the nature of the endings you will be offered. With the EC installed, the "magic" number is quite a bit lower than without the EC installed, so if you do the scanning and do the other missions, and with your ME2 import, you should be OK. If you check at that end point and you're not high enough, you can then do some multiplayer or Galaxy at War to boost your score further. That magic number is (phoray, this spoiler just contains a number - no explanation) 3150 EMS (edited because of themikefest's correction explanation below)

Even though 3100 ems is required to get the breath scene, it doesn't guarantee the player will. Lets say a player heads to Earth with ems at 3134. The player believes he/she will get the breath scene, but because of what might have happened, the scene doesn't happen and Shepard's nameplate is put on the wall. The player will throw up his/her arms wondering what-the-heck. Now why that might happen. The key is Anderson. Using the example from above, the player has to prevent TIM from shooting Anderson. If that happens, the player will lose 100 war assets. So if the player wants TIM to shoot Anderson, have at least 3200 ems when heading to Earth. Its easier if you prevent TIM from shooting Anderson. Doing that, the player will receive 200 war assets. That means the player can head to Earth with at least 2900 ems and still get the breath scene. If interested, here's more information about ems.

Talked to Thane again. No repeatable kiss scene- he says he's too Ill to handle it :( So, looking at my mission log, I picked up missions from random Conversations now? Went looking for the shopping district, ended up at the club. Stumbled onto Aria and now I have to collect some Mercs James is being sexy and unattainable. And Shepherd is a more enthusiastic dancer now, I approve. The music isn't too bad either. Really? I was kissing him all the time. Well, Shepard did. Weird.... also, try n7hq out of the game, it gives you your galaxy readiness.

Thanks. I corrected my spoiler so phoray can still open that one if she wants without reading actual story spoilers. Also, note that I'm actually asking her to check before Chronos (when Hackett actually indicates that going forward would be committing to the final push and the player can still back out and check on things before committing to that attack)... so she should get at minimum another war asset worth 100 TMS at that point; making the minimum EMS at that point 3150.

Once you lock in DAI Cullen, you can kiss 30 times in a row if you want to, similar to DAO. I had clicked and kissed then wanted to see if we could kiss again and he said no, let's just talk. Citing his cardiovascular issues. And I was like, if you can talk you can kiss but thanks, Bioware, for limiting my kiss scenes with mentions of death :/

Nailed it. Kelly totally isn't okay. But I got my fish back Garrus is downright charming now. And Shepherd gets asked how she's doing.lol all those background conversation people are still here! Don't worry. He got his refund. What did I tell you? As for timed missions, (vague sorta-spoiler inside): there is one that is on a two or three mission timer and will auto-fail if you don't do it in time. You'll probably know it when you see it. You may have even already done it.

You may have even already done it. If you're referring to the turian bomb, that is true. Depending on the playthrough, that mission can be done just before Cronos. The one mission that has to be done before the coup is Grissom, though its not required. If its not completed, Jack will be killed on Cronos, if she survived ME2

You may have even already done it. Yeah, but he wasn't so much in ME2. He was a wiseass violent vigilante and now he's grown up. Although I hope he hasn't lost the wiseass. The Krogan one wasn't so much times as there was a health bar that definitely went down over time. Someone asked if I'd told Kelly to change her ID. It seemed such an odd thing to say out of the blue, I did not, although the question posed makes me wish I had told her. I've already killed someone, probably.

I don't know what n7hq is, but if it's multiplayer, I thought I had the expansion that fixed that requirement. As it is, the controller mod I use doesn't work for MP. I'd have to uninstall SP control mod, install MP mod, and repeat as needed depending on situation.

You do not need to play MP, but it tracks the score by the sector anyway. But then I saw that you can just check it when closing the game anyway, so you don't need to worry about N7HQ then.

I'd have to uninstall SP control mod, install MP mod, and repeat as needed depending on situation. You may or may not need to do some MP depending on your EMS just before you initiate the final push towards the endgame if getting the "best" ending concerns you. You will know when you're about to enter that phase of the game because you'll basically be told that is what you're doing (more details in spoiler): When you go to start the mission that starts the end game, Hackett will basically tell you that the mission you're about to start will start the final push. That conversation will give you a way to delay starting that mission (ie. to reconsider so you can check your War Assets and decide to either do some more scanning at that point or do some multiplayer to boost the GR rating (which is 50% if you just do single-player, but can be boosted all the way up to 100% by playing multiplayer). If you're not worried about getting the absolutely best ending you can, then don't even worry about it... Your assets are almost certainly going to be well above being stuck with the worst ending. AFAIK, the end game is the only place your EMS matters for anything.

So if you have a save and are willing to, you'd have to back before then.

Ashley's gift has to be selected from several different options and it's important to get her the "right" gift (based on conversations with her in ME1) or else Shepard won't give it to her. It's been awhile since I've played ME3 with Kaidan, but I think the player only has one gift to choose from with him.

Note: mild spoiler? It's about the gift and its benefit. This is just some advice to better your relationship with him whether you're going to romance him or not. As far as I know it isn't absolutely necessary to give him the gift to start his romance (the act itself doesn't initiate romance) it just helps.
