Read above posts. Here's an example: witcher.wikia.com/wiki/Corvo_BiancoBut with more side missions and upgrades requiring resources. So you aren't actually crafting like in fallout Corvo Bianco didn't really work for me in Witcher, I got it so late in the game, I've been there only once and never returned. Yeah I hear ya. It just depends on the player. Plus its easy to get distracted with that game. A concept similar to ME3's Citadel dlc (contradicting my previous statement about glorified 3rd person shooter) would suffice

Don't really care much about it, I'm going to be an explorer/fighter so I'll have much more important things to do than becoming an urban planner.

Pathfinders should also be engineers, botanists, sculptors, writers, physicists, chemists, painters, architects, musicians, writers, mathematicians, paleontologists, astronomers, archaeologists, doctors, geologists, philosophers, alchemists and dancers. So yes!

Didn't even know about this. Possibly have this again but on the Nexus where you can upgrade and display collectibles, armor, weapons, etc would be awesome too.

Personally, no. I've only played two games that have done something like this. One was Skyrim's "Hearthfire" which was straightforward enough, but still tedious to find the materials; and Fallout 4, which was so complex and demanding, it really distracted from the main story. I don't really want something like that, even if it's only optional.
If it was really basic stuff like spending credits on preset layouts and designs, then sure, why not. Just so long as it won't distract me from the plot for too long. But having to spend hours collecting resources and then customize it to be just the way you want it isn't how I want to spend my time in Andromeda. Butting alien heads, talking to people and exploring new planets is what I'd rather the game be about.

I'd prefer that they spend the requisite time & energy on existing quests, especially beefing up side-quests in the interests of world building.
The idea does make sense, since in this game we're essentially settlers. Who knows, maybe the next game will focus on city-building where we end up settling in the cluster.

Some people love doing this. Some people hate it. I personally love it when a game gives you a place to call home (besides the Tempest) with options to upgrade and/or customize. There's the Assassin's Creed and/or Witcher 3: Blood and Wine style upgrades to an existing settlement where credits are used to purchase upgrades over time. There would be a series of preset options to buy. There would be a series of preset options to buy. Then there's the Fallout 4 crafting (wouldn't work IMO) which is pretty extreme and only appeals to certain people where you collect materials and can build anything from scratch. Most likely way too intricate for ME: Andromeda. There's also No Man's Sky Foundation DLC where it's not that intricate but still gives you the creative freedom/resource gathering. Personally, I would like to see this as post game content dlc giving you motivation to keep scouring the various worlds. Since the story is supposed to come full circle in terms of eliminating the threat with no sequels planned, it would be nice to have it focused on building your own permanent home to come back to after your pathfinder duties. I would want it to be more like the Assassins Creed upgrades but require more than credits. Certain upgrades require certain materials that you need to scavenge while exploring. The upgrades can include: -lounge/bar -market/shops -movie theater with a direct plugin to twitch (to watch ME:A sessions) or watch your own recorded videos -Ryder's estate -an Armory with armor racks and gun displays -Garage/mechanic for the Nomad (and Hopefully additional vehicles acquired through dlc) -defense posts Over time, you can recruit colonists allowing for additional side quest content and another reason to go out and explore. These colonists will provide certain buffs for the colony. They could even implement a government system where you have to make choices for the colony/ colonists like in DA: Inquisition. And of course it can be attacked given that you have opted for this in the menu. This can provide unlimited replay-ability given the various choices you make, the scavenging for the materials, and defense combat Brain storm with me folks on what you would like implemented and how it can further enhance the experience! Or explain why this doesn't appeal to you. I would love this, but only if it plays a role in the story! I'd love it if providing your people (humans from your Ark, but also Asari, Salarians etc. etc.) played a larger role, because after all: That's your fucking job as Pathfinder! You go out find resources, determine threats, set up outposts (to mine resources or plant crops etc.), find additional worlds, make contact with other aliens (or fight them if need be), keep your people together (I hope you can put those criminals from that trailer down - I have no use for people who divide the few humans in the new galaxy, so if possible I will give them the choice: Return to the Nexus/Ark and work with the rest or be stamped out (don't have the resources to keep them locked up!) - especially since they most likely STOLE resources to be able to set out on their own (thieves get killed as long as you don't have civilization re-established! Unless they have a very very very good reason for stealing (feeding their family/themselves or soemthing))) I never bothered with settlements in Fallout 4 because they played no part in the story (so they were only pointless tedium - or if you want to say it that way: A waste of time! I don't even like Minecraft because IMHO it's a total waste of my time!) and were not really good for much (except spending time doing something I didn't find rewarding - especially with that CLUNKY interface...how that passed quality control is really beyond me, I'd have flagged that and told the makers that it's a clunky fucked up piece of garbage!) Make it a story element (this is something I have missed in DA:I, too - why does my fucking fortress, even with some repairs still have a hole in the wall next to my command-center (the map-room)? Must be fucking FREEZING, so let me fix that god damned! (Not to mention that only very few of the upgrades for that place really did anything...hell, I would have wanted a gardener who takes care of my plants for me (if they are fully mature they are harvested and new ones (the same as before - or others if you plan some sort of rotation, which should IMHO have been possible) should have been planted!)) and I will spend a lot of time with it (note: Not like war-assets or influence like in DA:I where you could not progress in the story without influence ), helping people out, ordering a cantina built, planing out defenses etc. etc. greetings LAX

Not sure. In theory this could be a really nice option, but the only game that I have played it...FO 4...I thought stunk on ice and I barely touched it. I don't think the crafting from FO4 could work in this situation. Too many mechanics. I'd rather just have an upgrade system for the colony with the focus more on resource gathering and colony story missions. Basically everyone's colony would look similar in the end after the upgrades, but you can decide where to put your credits/money and resources towards first. Maybe give two or three variations on how to upgrade or add a certain building/layout. Check out the link to Corvo Bianco, the vinyard you get in Witcher 3, and you may get a better idea. witcher.wikia.com/wiki/Corvo_BiancoMaybe something more robust but along the lines of Saint's Row Crib upgrades?

Settlements Confirmed!!!!
https://www.reddit.com/r/masseffect/comments/5t8heg/info_from_the_play_uk_magazine/
-You can create settlements. 'Find a suitable planet and on that planet a good spot and you can create your own little communities scattered through the systems.' There is a limit, because there is a limit of people on the Hyperion.
Edit: Seams like the Hyperion will be the new Skyhold in some ways.

I wonder if the colonists would be pleased if their beds, power and crops were all piled into one spot. The settlers in FO4 didn't mind.

In NWN2 and DA Awakening there were consequences for not investing in your keep. In me there were consequences for not upgrading Normandy. Heck, in me there were consequences for not feeding your fish at regular intervals....

Didn't BW preview something like this for DAI? You capture a castle and then make get to make a few cosmetic changes and determine what the castle is used for, spying, coin or the army. I know it was cut from the final DAI game, but something like that would be great for MEA. I too enjoyed the settlement building in FO4, but I just can't see that being implemented well into a BW game. Let them stick to what they are good at. I would love to see someone try and tackle a modern day version of Crossroads Keep some day.

Question: how many tin cans would I need to gather to build a defense turret? Over 9 thousands . I doubt the system will be that complex to require us to search for resources to build stuff.

Title says confirmed, so this is actually going to be in the game? I voted no in any case, but I don't think it's a garbage idea. Some games have done it well. I just don't think it's in BioWare's wheelhouse. They should just focus on the primary reasons people buy their games.

I could definitely be mistaken, but how I understood it from some trailer footage is you find resource spots in the world via the Nomad, and then call down a mining beacon or w/e to gather materials.

People may get ticked at me for saying this but I think this is just another DAI knockoff like the locations you killed some enemies and poof! Up springs a little mini camp populated that now has your crafting and stores and such.
