maybe i'm just a sucker but it looks pretty great so far. Like I said we'll see. When I saw rate the marketing, I saw rate how successful the marketing is and we won't know that till we see the sales. But I think ultimately, as long as the game itself is good and they support the MP, it'll be successful especially since it's got that Mass Effect label. It just looks bad because their Super deluxe is $100 and the multiplayer packs make up $30 of it, but they have shown us only a screenshot and a some seconds of a pre order trailer when it comes to multiplayer. Edit: Business wise the only excuse they can make is that they are trying to reduce marketing costs as much as possible. But idc as long as the game's good, I'm good with what they're doing

True, but know that there are some here that are still skeptical. You might preorder while some might buy it out of the bargain box years later. Again i agree that it will ultimately be successful.

it could be a lot better, more gameplay videos, more story trailers and MP gameplay/trailer too
they know that they don't need to release lot of info ecause they say a sentence or a hint or release a tiny screenshot and people will overreact and overanalyze it and create and expand hype most of the marketing and publicity is made by people

They run off of the fandom, press, and the popularity of the trilogy to market for them. At this point one could say that the game just being called "Mass Effect" will mean that it will sell successfully whether their marketing campaign would have been bad for a new game or not. In my opinion their marketing for this game is bad but the marketing by the fans, press, and the popularity of the trilogy is going to make it successful.

I've been pretty happy with it. I'm not a fan of having most of the plot, story and game shown before the game releases. The masseffect.com website, the AI mission briefings and the released game play trailers have hit a pretty good balance for me. The one thing I wish they would show more of is the multiplayer.

I'd not want to appear like a troll, but I think it's the worst marketing campaign I've ever seen for a game. It seems as they were playing a game of cat and mouse with us; they only annoy people this way, and they incite haters - more than a thousand posts here, in the "skepticism" thread, are indicative, if you know what I mean. Now people expect the game will be of inhuman perfection, and the least glitch, the smallest flaw will rekindle the hate campaign. I hope they'll change course with the marketing campaign about their "new IP" and other future games.

rate based on what you've seen so far. Marketing? What Marketing? So far all I mostly saw was Bioware tweets about 184 different ways on how to write " Soon". "Soon". "Sooooooooooooooon""Soon"
"Soon"
"Soon"
"Soon"
"Soon"
"Soon" "Soon"
"Soon" "Soon" "Soon" and so Soon on...

It's getting better now that they're introducing companions to us and the briefings are great. I still think DAI's marketing was better. What I want is just to finally get to know more about the player character. That's the most important thing to me. What's the CC like, what are the optional "training" backgrounds they mentioned, is there any family history I should know of before starting to plan my character? That's all I need to know. I'm just glad they haven't spoiled the plot or characters too much (unlike the new Goon 2 trailer from yesterday which basically showed the entire plot and how the movie is gonna end )

Could be better, while after their previous experiences with DA:I I fully understand their discrete tight-lipped marketing until the product is finalized, we have reached a point where all the main elements should be nailed and complete. It's my humble opinion that we need at least one gameplay video with the devs. One SP video of approx. 10-15 minutes where we can get a sense of the game, its exploration and maybe a glimpse of some quests in the game. It's very difficult to keep people interested with trailers and short video. We are so close to release and we need a solid gameplay video to have a sense of what we are getting in the finalized product.

Right now, could be better, but not gonna judge until closer to release. I honestly don't mind having the heavy marketing push with all the details closer to launch, frankly wish they would have waited a year or two with their original announcement of the game. Better then NMS but that doesnt really take much. How so? From a marketing perspective the NMS marketing is brilliant. Sure, they lied a bit and the game could in no way live up to it (or all the things people imagined about it) but it sure did sell the game

Aside from the obvious youtuber space camp bribery, I actually think it's pretty good. They released too much info on da:i.
I'd still like to see a bit more unedited gameplay and more info on mp, including the contents of the super deluxe packs but we know that's coming. And since there's no scarcity of digital downloads, pre-ordering now or on march 19th makes no difference.

Yes lying and exagerrating obviously made the game sell better, but it also completely destroyed the reputation of the creator and company. No mans skys marketing was awful, because it significantly reduced the sales of all their future games. In the long term it will likely cost them far more than they made.

And never-flinching fans believe every word they say but honestly I have the impression that most of what we haven't seen that we feel we should've seen is because BioWare "polishing" the game means they've only got most elements presentable right as we speak. All the released footage so far looks conspicuously lousy even if some of it is enticing. I mean, the combat system is somewhat in place in the last two trailers showing some of it, but it also looks incredibly loose in terms of collission and I picked up on lacking sounds (RIP barrier-users in ME3) and those god-awful dead-stare faces everybody has. Also in the TGA trailer every asari you can see in the port is using PeeBee as a placeholder. I find it very strange since it looks like combat is more polished than the character models and animations which are being ripped to shreds. Seems like something went very wrong in MEA's development, five years in development and yet no Bioware game has looked as unpolished as this game has. Poor management according to the Glassdoor reviews I read. Many leads left during the development including the previous project-lead (game director) way before they were getting things done, and the disgruntled former employees on the Glassdoor site claims that nothing could be done to call out the problems within the teambuilding and that personal agendas from other employees run wild there. I also saw some mentioning how the lower-paid devs had to "inception ideas" into the brains of the leads so they could take credit for it. You definitely get the impression that something isn't the way it should be at the company. I think they've been on a slippery slope ever since Greg and Ray left them to figure it out on their own. And... excuse me for namedropping but I think despite how good Aaryn Flynn might've been as a lead programmer he's just not a good studio director, even though admittedly managing 3 teams across the continent is a task nobody'd want unless they're experts. But specifically, he talked about a couple of years ago about wanting to get the devs out to cons more mid-development. What did that lead to? Two-three cons you can check out on Youtube where almost every single question in the QA led to "Sorry, we can't talk about that right now." and especially the early one for ME:A where they showed the Mako I found to be embarrassing because there was awkward silence from how little they were able to say. You get the impression that in the leadership at BioWare there's someone slouching on their couch going "yeah, you do this Team A, yup!", nonchalantly doing their thing and closing their eyes to what's really going on inside the studio.

10/10 because right now I can be only pleasantly surprised. Oh man, I really did not want to think about this. I actually think it can disappoint further. Despite of the technical details, so far ME:A still has this sense of being a really huge game with a lot of content in it, wouldn't you say? But now imagine if it only has a handful of main missions like DA:I.

At this point I'm rating the marketing as a huge gamble. Are they putting it off because they're confident in the game and trying a new approach, or have the suits at EA determined the game's bad enough that an extensive marketing campaign is a waste of money? Or somewhere in between...

Surpasses all expectations, fans still find complaints as always. Dragon Age 4 pre-release BioWare: "We heard some complaints about Andromeda. We listened and I definitely think we're going to address those issues" To be fair in a number of cases BioWare does address the complaints. We complained about a lack of picking herbs in DA2 and they totally addressed that in Inquisition. You can't walk 5 feet without finding another god damn elfroot. what? really?? where? i need more!!

for what it's worth, the more marketing ,the more suspicions.
i have many friends who play a fair amount of games and when i say i play MAss Effect i get those puzzled "???" ... so BW's marketing seems to preach to the choir a bit.

Even worse than last times. Even worse than Fallout 4 IMO. Makes me doubt if they're modest or if there really has not been more to show that was finished when the respective trailers and screens landed. Deeply unimpressed. Do they even have a marketing team?
