You know this totally shallow but I imagine that would have liked Suvi's romance a lot more if turedn out that she was a total sex fiend that constantly made Sera or IB level puns and asides about banging Sara. Peebee doing all that was predictable but if halfway through the romance Suvi started being super blatant and raunchy that would have been a welcome surprise. Would probably piss off a certain someone though.   And damn proud of it! |

Yeah, suuure. I guess the prima guide folks just have mad photoshopping skills or the dev team didn't get the memo*. The rejection was handled poorly. She should have just said 'not interested'. 'Professional' would mean professional and we wouldn't have to listen to her boring faith stuff. Sheryl might have envisioned her as an l-word but the way she's presented in the game just makes her not clarified/Sarasexual. Anyway the only reason I'd want her is because she looks cute. She doesn't have a sense of humor (remnant parties? nothing? cmon... ) and since that's a dealbreaker she's not a great loss. I'm glad that it wasn't Vetra who got sacrificed on the altar of representation. *I think that 'romance scene' with Scott was indeed in the game and prima's guide is accurate but the two together led to a "aargh, *panic!*, cut it, cut it!". That should have stayed in the game because it would have been the spending time together scene. Every other crewmember (-Kallo, the frog need one too) has a scene like this which can result in a romance lock or a simple friendly time. But thanks to laziness, lack off resource/interest it ended up as the 'sex scene' instead. Anyways, I love that lesbian Suvi who loves fucking women. While that's hot it's more of a fanart territory. The prima guide clearly states that this was the moment where Ryder can commit to Suvi or just stay friends. There was obviously a beepup in development. They made the scene for both (other example of this is the PB banging) but when they were notified that she's Sara only in paper I guess it was cheaper/easier to remove Scott altogether than to modify it or create a separate friendship scene. I just wish either SC or the devs have the balls to come clean about it. |

I just wish either SC or the devs have the balls to come clean about it. Cora's garden is a part of her loyalty chain. The equivalent to Suvi's lab scene would be the Cora porn scene/the stargazing. It would have been nice to have a platonic version of the lab scene (just because Suvi desperately needed more content like Gil and the rest of the crew), but it would have to have been in addition to another later romance exclusive scene. |

Well I've been lurking for a while now, I was on the old BSN and finally joined. My thoughts on Suvi. Suvi is right down my alley, her looks, voice and being a nerd but the lack of content kind of made the romance less than it should have been for me. The lack of emotion in the romance wasn't a positive either, of course that is something that I want in a romance so that's personal preference. Must admit that I enjoyed Peebee's romance much more. I've started the romance again to see if my first thoughts were affected by the lack of content.
The controversy about her sexuality is frustrating, I think I know why they had her say let's keep it professional. They remember how pissed some people were about Traynor and Sera, so they tried to make the turn down as inoffensive as possible but they didn't think of or care about the shitstorm that would happen by making her less than open about her sexuality. When you have to verify that a character is lesbian on twitter, well that's a fuckup.
Two other things bothered me both in the epilogue, when you talk to Suvi and ask if she needs a hug, her response was meant to show embarrassment at showing public affection, I think but it was too close to feeling like the closet for me. I don't like thinking of the fucking closet ever again. The second thing was right before going back to the Tempest, when the companions gather around and they couldn't have been bothered to have the rest of the crew there. It especially pissed me off because Peebee got a really nice romance moment there. Well I guess that's all of my complaints for now. Lol Yup manly her problems lie in lack of content/design/polishedanimations. I still need to get around to do her romance but both Peebee and Vetra are hard to resist. Also Suvi being more reserved would had been fine but after the prima guide things got complicated real fast. Which is sad since I do believe in her writer but she cannot control what other departments do. Just hi-fiving these opinions. Suvi's reservedness wouldn't be such an issue for me if she had more content, or if maybe if there was a conversation about it. As it all stands, though, I don't doubt her feelings for Ryder but it's a bummer at times, from the "A hug? In PUBLIC?" response to the "Hey Suvi, I just saved Heleus can you stop looking at your omni-tool for just a sec"...and in a parallel universe, the no "no homo" with Scott and the Prima guide meta. It all works for the character and her passions and interests and personality–surely that was Sheryl Chee's intent–but it's also missing some context, so Suvi ends up seeming closeted and not completely into Sara/the romance. I don't know Chee's orientation, but it could be that same ol' "straight writer doesn't get how this will play for gays, visibility and representation are important, etc etc" All that said, she's my canon romance, one of my favorite characters in the game, and I'm hoping for more content via DLC or MEA2 or even just audio content that doesn't have anything to do with anything because Katy Townsend's voice is A++ okay bye |

Yes I totally get that, that is why I prefer Peebee or Vetra, they are more open about their attractions. I think the problem really lies on the lack of content because her writer is responsible for Isabela and Vetra. Still yes it comes out as a "closet case", instead of being part of her personality sometimes and the prima guide does not help at all. Still even if Suvi is not my favorite I really hope we get a lot more in the future because she is still representation and in need of attention. the best at it I feel but Suvi isn't for me. She's cute but just a little too cute for my taste. Still gonna be science buds tho. Peebs and Vetra are where it's at for me tho with ME:A, Peebs especially. :hearteyes: Couldnt agree more. Sheryl Chee if you are reading this, please, please do a hot romance a la Yennefer of Vengert for us poor ladies but seriously now, Suvi could had been much more if she had the same treatment as Cullen and Josephine. |

Sheryl is great at writing f/f, the best at it I feel but Suvi isn't for me. She's cute but just a little too cute for my taste. Still gonna be science buds tho. Don't get me wrong, Chee has written some most of my favorite characters and romances. I certainly don't think she had bad intentions, and my biggest issue with Suvi is that there simply isn't enough content for her.  That's where most of the minor nitpicks with the character stem from. I tried a Peebee romance–I vastly prefer a squadmate LI to a shipmate LI–but for some reason she didn't click for me. It's weird because I figured someone who is basically Liara + Isabela would be a dream LI. |

I am ok with this, I think it is pretty rare to get a grizzled older KISA type. From the top of my head recently Ana from Overwatch but that is it. I think we need an older lesbian warrior/mage ASAP, gaycaravaggio is totally right. Also when I mean old, it is not my age old more like 40 or above. Peebee is an amazing character, I like her romantic arc a lot too mostly because of the Isabela vibes for sure. A little flavor with the LIs is necessary too, even if I do not feel them personally. I still like to RP their romances with characters out of my comfort zone and Suvi is amazing for that. More diverse personalities but also content would be perfect if bioware really got out their asses to do something different. |

Well I've been lurking for a while now, I was on the old BSN and finally joined. My thoughts on Suvi. Suvi is right down my alley, her looks, voice and being a nerd but the lack of content kind of made the romance less than it should have been for me. The lack of emotion in the romance wasn't a positive either, of course that is something that I want in a romance so that's personal preference. Must admit that I enjoyed Peebee's romance much more. I've started the romance again to see if my first thoughts were affected by the lack of content.
The controversy about her sexuality is frustrating, I think I know why they had her say let's keep it professional. They remember how pissed some people were about Traynor and Sera, so they tried to make the turn down as inoffensive as possible but they didn't think of or care about the shitstorm that would happen by making her less than open about her sexuality. When you have to verify that a character is lesbian on twitter, well that's a fuckup.
Two other things bothered me both in the epilogue, when you talk to Suvi and ask if she needs a hug, her response was meant to show embarrassment at showing public affection, I think but it was too close to feeling like the closet for me. I don't like thinking of the fucking closet ever again. The second thing was right before going back to the Tempest, when the companions gather around and they couldn't have been bothered to have the rest of the crew there. It especially pissed me off because Peebee got a really nice romance moment there. Well I guess that's all of my complaints for now. Lol I don't understand why Bioware doesn't makes character sexuality clear asap. I was jealous of Peebee's end smooch also. Vetra didn't get that either. I just stopped in to say Vetra's crush on Suvi is cute! |
