Suvi's new look! She doesn't have a new look (besides the oily hair everyone's been cursed with), she just looks hugely different depending on the lighting. All characters do, and you'll probably notice it the most with Ryder simply because of screentime, but Suvi in particular gets stuck with some really weird and/or bad lighting in the game. For instance, take a look at the above picture (where she looks kind of derpy), and compare it to these: In this scene, the lighting seems to be doing everything it can to highlight her skin's wrinkles and blemishes, making her look older (not that we know how old she even is). Her blush is really obvious, too. Here she just looks... orange Orange is my favourite colour. Here, it's almost like the image has been desaturated somewhat, removing the intensity of the colour. Not just her face, but her hair, (dead, pre-patch) eyes, and clothes as well. This kind of lighting on the bridge is why some people thought she was blonde before launch. Whereas here it's basically the opposite, there's a lot of colour. Her face is fairly red, like the blood is rushing there. Actually, considering what's going on, it probably is. This image looks the most balanced to me, and she doesn't look strange at all, which is why it's probably the best shot of her I have. There's my unwanted, overly-long explanation Maybe Suvi is just more comfortable being affectionate with Ryder around the Tempest crew? But, there should have been a narrative interrupt to hug her. I guess. A hug just seems like such a... tame thing to get embarrassed about. Everyone hugs, it doesn't even have to be romantic. Agreed. Again, I probably wouldn't have made this post if you could hug her at least once otherwise. Yeah they changed the colors slightly due to skin texture. She has darker pink lipstick now due to no shine for some reason. Not sure which I like better. She looks a bit heavy with the makeup now I think? It looks less natural now. I think I liked her softer look before.

I agree with natural being better. I mean, I prefer it when girls just look beautiful without half a tonne of stuff on their face. You then love them the way they are. When is the shy hug refusal? (Seriously, girl can be shy, too? Twist the blade more, BioWare. I dare you.) It occurs during the party on Meridian after the final battle. Oh, explains! I haven't gotten that far yet with Suvi's romance. Suvi's new look! But DID they change her?

It's what they did to the skin. Everyone has less shine to their skin and it seems to have muted the makeup, So now we have shiny/oily hair and matted skin for everyone now.

As Hanako said, on Meridian. Here's the scene. (Video was here) No, Suvi, it's not even a tad embarrassing. And I'm like, the most awkward person ever. It wouldn't annoy me so much if she had other hugs. I've been spoiled by Cullen's romance, since it has plenty of them. And they're one of the best things in life! If she won't even give you a hug when the people around aren't even paying attention to you, imagine how embarrassed she must have been when this happened! Oops? Although, it's sort of inconsistent. She's fine with flirting with you in front of Kallo, or cuddling during Movie Night while everyone's there. Maybe I'll just headcanon that Sara just goes ahead and hugs her instead of asking if she needs one Maybe Suvi is just more comfortable being affectionate with Ryder around the Tempest crew? But, there should have been a narrative interrupt to hug her. It feels like there's a conversation missing somewhere, because as is, Suvi's a bit inconsistent. She obviously talks to Kallo and Lexi about you, and she's not shy in front of the Tempest crew. In the lab scene, she says she suggested "going out", presumably to Vortex or something, so you wouldn't think she's hiding your relationship in public. The embarrassment over a public hug, then, seems weird and if I were Ryder I'd be a bit hurt by it and I'd *definitely* ask why. Romanced Peebee says "No PDAs!" and this could simply be the same thing. Of course, then Peebee grabs you and kisses you in front of everyone at Meridian to stake her claim, so she's inconsistent, too...guess it's the theme of the game

Oh, speaking of Suvi's voice, I forgot to post this in this thread as well: OHMYGOD KATY TOWNSEND ACTUALLY RESPONDED TO ME My stupid email didn't give me a notification! I thought I scared her off.And I didn't completely creep her out, awesome! I made someone happy, mission accomplished! She seems so upbeat and cheerful. And that gif is so adorable! And that emote says "two women holding hands"
Whew. Awesome Yay, gratz! Katy is a sweetheart.

It's not just that you should love them for who they are, I actually just prefer no makeup to looking kinda fake. I'm a sucker for smokey eyes, though. Eye makeup is all I wear. I think Suvi would look better with no makeup, to be honest. Or at least something more subdued. It feels like there's a conversation missing somewhere, because as is, Suvi's a bit inconsistent. She obviously talks to Kallo and Lexi about you, and she's not shy in front of the Tempest crew. Funnily enough, I've been on Suvi's end of things before, too timid to hold my girlfriend's hand while in public at the beginning. Though that wasn't really on purpose, and I felt bad when she pointed it out. And hugs aren't even strictly romantic. JUST LET ME HUG YOUAlthough, it's sort of inconsistent. She's fine with flirting with you in front of Kallo, or cuddling during Movie Night while everyone's there. It's not like anyone at the party is even paying attention to you, and as Praise Adrast mentioned, she seemed fine with the idea of going out in public as a couple. I don't know, it just rubs me the wrong way. I'm not saying "I'm right you're wrong!" about this. OHMYGOD KATY TOWNSEND ACTUALLY RESPONDED TO ME Yay, gratz! Katy is a sweetheart. Fully agree.
Still not sure how they could put Suvi in the ground team. Maybe if she has to go with the team for some reason and wears an armor for the duration. Temporary squadmate.

After playing through MEA twice now, I've gotta say, I think the Dubi romance is quite possibly my favorite Bioware romance. Despite the lack of content and the weird no hug thing at the end. I just enjoyed the overall tone more than any other romance I've played.

I don't think you'd need any justification, since we've had squadmates before like Tali or Kasumi, who aren't soldiers. If anything it would make more sense here, since the Initiative is supposedly a scientific/exploratory venture. Frankly, it's bizarre that the Pathfinder team didn't have any scientists on it in the first place. We already know she's training, and anyone can put on some armour and install some omnitool apps for tech abilities. She doesn't have to be a front-line fighter or even like fighting, because fighting isn't all you're there for. After playing through MEA twice now, I've gotta say, I think the Dubi romance is quite possibly my favorite Bioware romance. Despite the lack of content and the weird no hug thing at the end. I just enjoyed the overall tone more than any other romance I've played. Me too! It was sweet, and relatable, and I loved that it involved a lot of emotional bonding and intellectual attraction. Just imagine how awesome it would be if she had more content! Also, Dubi, haha

Not exactly related, but I occasionally use the portmanteau couple name of Savi. Sara/Suvi. That would be great. She's my favourite character and romance option in a Bioware game, so her lack of content makes me even more sad. At the very least, Cora's VA tweeted that she's in the studio again, so we'll get at least one DLC. Presumably, Suvi will at least be in it. I hope. Even one more nice, friendship/romance scene would do wonders for her, considering what little she currently has.

Definitely need more content, the struggle to ignore Peebee is too difficult right now, with the walking away holding hands scene at the very end. We need a hug scene after being trolled with that hug comment at the end of the game, most frustrating moment of the romance for me. Just my opinions.

I see your point, Ry-dur Though Peebee was a scientist to an extent, and the original (Alec Ryder) team probably had a few scientists, with the Ryder siblings, Cora and Liam forming his combat element. I could see her becoming a squadmate if the sequel starts of with a "We're just exploring, yay, scientific and stuff, the worst we encounter are Roekaar/Kett stragglers and wildlife!" tone, and then shit hits the fan, and Suvi just stays a squadmate rather than becoming one despite it. Let's face it, she's training to defend herself, not to be a combatant, so just joining the ground team out of the blue seems much less likely than simply staying a part of it despite things suddenly being all combat-ey. It might also make for a great, great tutorial. Ryder is the experienced Pathfinder hero, so learning everything again makes little sense, but if roles were switched and we play Suvi for the tutorial, with Ryder showing her things, as promised... *absent look*

We need a hug scene after being trolled with that hug comment at the end of the game, most frustrating moment of the romance for me. Just my opinions. The struggle is real. Although when I did a Peebee romance run, I quickly realized that I'd have to completely ignore Suvi–like, not talk to her whatsoever–because I wouldn't be able to resist hitting the flirt option every time. I do like the Peebee romance arc, but she's so badly animated in terms of facial expressions that the character falls short for me...I just can't seem to get past the blank, wide-eyed stare when her voice actress is clearly conveying emotion. Peebee really likes Ryder though, and it's very sweet; I wish Suvi's arc had some more of that. It's great in the cabin/tea scene and a few things she says along the way, but by the end of the game all she talks about is science. Yeah yeah, it's her first love and it's great her world doesn't completely revolve around Ryder, but dang Suvi, your girlfriend saved the Initiative, beat the bad guys, and made a whole mess of gross planets 100% viable. Put down the omni-tool and give her a hug at least!

There better be. I'm just wondering whether on ship (forget off ship, they're at even more of a risk in that) romances get as much content as squad romances. After all, we do spend a lot less time with the crew than the squad. It could be Suvi-centric though. With science. Also one of the ways to sneak her into the squad. Think her being temporary for the DLC in MEA, or becoming a permanent MEA squadmate in a post-main-story DLC, and then they can sneak her back on the squad in a sequel. Still should be one of the characters whose strong suit isn't combat. Maybe with Suvi, you can avoid Remnant puzzles, or something like that? Get hints when facing puzzles? You know. A trade off, you're not bringing a squadmate who has the brawn to blast her way through a firefight solo, but someone who has the brains to make your non-combat job a LOT easier while being able to cover you in a firefight.

It might also make for a great, great tutorial. Ryder is the experienced Pathfinder hero, so learning everything again makes little sense, but if roles were switched and we play Suvi for the tutorial, with Ryder showing her things, as promised... *absent look* *Gasp* Someone actually used my first name I actually hope the next game does start out like that, and not just so it would make more sense for Suvi to be a squadmate. I want to just explore some stuff, for a while at least. So much of ME:A's marketing (as well as the in-universe sales pitch) was about that, but we didn't actually get to do a lot, since most places we went had been discovered already or were occupied. Even on a smaller scale, most places on the map you don't find - you follow a waypoint to get somewhere. Plus, at the end of ME:A, Ryder can say "Now we can finally do what we came here to do: Explore!" And she could go through a nice character arc (something she didn't have much of outside the romance) if she "didn't sign up for this", but sticks with it, sticks with Ryder. I think she definitely would. Good idea on the tutorial, as well. I like immersive tutorials, as well as tutorials where your character doesn't suddenly forget how to do things they were just doing last game Quick, someone make art of Ryder teaching her things. Praise Andraste, @praiseadraste is here /Lame joke Well, I was invited... Shhhh... I love science, but yeah, it would have been cool to see more of her interests/personality than that. It was clearly intentional that she has trouble focusing on anything that isn't science - even Sara - since Sara says she's "a little jealous" and you can literally tell her to put the omnitool down. But I think the problem is simply her lack of content not letting us have time to see more. More scenes like the tea scene. And I'm always up for more sweetness in my romances, definitely. Let's have something sappy. Before launch, I said it would be cool if she was a gamer (of "oldschool" RPGs, perhaps? ). We've never had anyone with that hobby, and considering how popular it is now it would be neat to see, and I think she'd be a good fit. A scene playing something with her like Gil's poker game would be an idea. I can't be the only one that enjoys the remnant puzzles. I sell the remnant keys as soon as I get one. I got the nerd achievement without using help, you know the one for solving 20 remnant puzzles. Strangely enough, Remnant Sudoku gave me hell I love puzzles in games, and I'd like to think I'm usually good at them, but for some reason (lack of practice in Sudoku, I suppose), I could barely do them at first. Even handed over my controller to a friend via shareplay so she could do it for me I felt really dumb. On the other hand, I guess I learn quickly, since by the end of the game I could do the more complicated ones without too much trouble. Huh. I didn't use any decryption keys, but I didn't get the achievement. I didn't find enough puzzles, which is odd because I check everywhere

I can't be the only one that enjoys the remnant puzzles. I sell the remnant keys as soon as I get one. I got the nerd achievement without using help, you know the one for solving 20 remnant puzzles. I found them easy to the point of annoying for the most part. There was only one that I needed to find help for. In the end, I had 96 or 97 percent completion, but I didn't get the achievement. I think it bugged out on me, because I did all the Vaults and a lot of Containers.

Role-playing! I was all ready for at least an Inquisition-style scene, but it's literally just "We have all the pieces, let's play!" *fade to black* *quest over* I think unfortunately if Suvi was any kind of gamer she'd get compared to Traynor even more than she does. (Comparisons I don't really agree with, since their similarities strike me as generally surface-level.)

Posted this elsewhere as well, but... This is the Suvi thread, so: Okay, so I constructed this over the last few days, for fun. Some poetic license to follow. Bonus points if you read it in Suvi’s voice. *Clears throat* Suvi AnwarThere once was a girl called Suvi Who came from the Highland lochs. And who, when things get gloomy Enjoys uplifting talks. She likes Sumatran tea, and apple cider And Tavarv plants, and Sara Ryder. She’s inept at fashion; Science is her passion. She doesn’t think her work is drudgery And her name is really quite summery. She sounds like Scott, Montgomery And thinks 50 pages “a summary”. Though sad to say, her content lacks With sparse scenes, and fade-to-blacks. Though this may indeed be fixed With DLC brought into the mix. An expert in pedology Or, the study of dirts She gets pretty flustered Whenever Sara flirts She’ll lock the door, Pull her close to her chest, And with impassioned breath, whisper: “Have you heard... of the lick test?” ...
