Or even a butch/soft butch for that matter. A sea of femmes. EXACTLY! I want a butch f/f option. I've been dying for one. I think that they won't do that for fear of being "stereotypical" despite the fact that there is nothing wrong with stereotypes if they are just part of the landscape. If every f/f option was butch, yeah, I'd side eye them. But it's not any better to have no butch options either. I want full-on bull dyke butch personally, but I'd settle for a soft butch gal! I'll probably get flamed for this but eh, YOLO. Subverting the butch stereotype again here with Cora just like they did with Cass. Even tho I'd place Cora as a soft one. Why always femmes Bioware? Makes you wonder is it for us or for another demographic. Cos, alot of queer women would love to have Cora too. And, her haircut is pretty gay, if I'm being honest. I'm sorry it is. There is some truth to stereotypes, nothing wrong with this.

And let's look at the f/f options: Juhani Silk Fox Liara Leliana Kelly Merril Isabela Sera Josephine Lana Beniko Not a butch in sight. Maybe the most butch is Juhani? #bringonthebutch

While I'm not opposed to there being the kind of characters you want, I don't think Suvi is it. Personally I'm thankful for that since I like the kind of character she seems to be and among the known and/or rumored f/f LIs she is pretty much the only one like that.

Not sure how to feel about having a very religious science officer. A cornerstone of science is doubt... which is the antithesis of faith. Every person I know IRL who've tried to reconcile the two inevitably reach a point where they simply can't. It's really hard to talk to those people, someone always walks away frustrated.

Some of the greatest scientific minds in history were also extremely religious people. There are even great quotes from them about how the two are not only not in conflict but can even be complimentary and how both are needed. So I'm sure it can work well for Suvi.

F/F love interests in BioWare games are usually cute (I am quite fond of Asari) but in real life I prefer people a bit less girly (I have a big crush on Sue Perkins and Mizu Natsuki). So I usually give my female hero a cool look with short hair. Kind of like how I look but....less ugly If BioWare don't want to give me a cool looking love interest...I just make the hero look that way! .....I am still upset about Cass being straight I'm interested in Suvi's religion and science thing though. I am not religious but I am quite sciencey and those two things just really don't seem like they would mix so I am interested in seeing what she says and what kind of things we can talk to her about.

Nah, there's enough naive, young girl characters in media, imo. You're free to what you want, but I desperately do not want them continue the trend of the young, naive f/f options. So you want to deprive people of options they like? Hypocrite. No matter what kind of characters you make Love Interests, you are going to "deprive options" to someone, somewhere. The real point here is that both ME and DA have already had the shy, adorkable female archetype. Been there, done that. You can enjoy romances like Liara and Merrill (I did), and still want something new that's never been done in a Bioware game. I for one would like a little more nuance beyond Betty and Veronica. Seriously, if you're just going to keep recycling the same characters, what's the point in continuing the story?

Not everything gets purged in a cycle, yes. Oh wait, I forgot about Ashley, she's a Christian. Herp a derp, it's been touched. Also, there's a random human on Eden Prime at the beginning of Mass Effect who babbles about "the Maker." Not sure to what extent that's a DA reference, but I don't think that god is ever mentioned again. I don't think that was specifically a Dragon Age reference, partially because Dragon Age wasn't even out yet. Calling a deity as the Maker has been a thing for a long time since they are the maker of everything. If it was a reference to another science fiction franchise, I'm guessing Star Wars since C-3PO said that a lot.

Yeah I agree on wanting more butch F/F love interests. Bioware seems to think they're avoiding stereotypes by giving all the butch women to the straights when they rarely even want them. The cutesy, young and super femme stereotype we are getting is a bit passé at this point. I mean for example Liara is nice and all, but I would've much rather taken Ashley or Jack or Miranda over her. Maybe the fact that Suvi is our science officer means she'll be more mature.

...Oh. And it started off so well, too. I can see the appeal of exploring a religious scientist as a character, but not sure how I'd like them as a romance option (and I know we don't know if she even is one yet). Being religious wouldn't necessarily be a deal-breaker in a relationship for me, but I have a hard time seeing such disparate worldviews working in tandem. Ingame, it'll depend heavily on what kind of dialogue options Sara has, too. Especially considering her religion is probably not a real-world one; there isn't much logic in transposing current religious ideas onto it ( ideas that are becoming superannuated even by the standards of most religious people anyway). Sorry, Hanako, I feared that would happen. Just to be clear, I don't have a problem with religious people (as long as they don't encourage exclusion or bigotry, like anyone else), but I'm far more picky about who I'd date than who'd I'd be friends with. I'd need to have a similar worldview to them if it would last. Maybe. I wouldn't reject someone for being religious though, I think I'd see if it worked out. And I'm not saying Suvi can't be an asexual romance, just that I wouldn't use her faith as evidence that she is.

Or even a butch/soft butch for that matter. A sea of femmes. Yes, please give us someone less femme. And I'm not even butch or anything. I just want more variety. I liked your posts because I agree they should add more variety, even if I'm arguably boring and tend to like androgynous-to-femme women. But appearance is even less of an issue for me in video games than it would be in real life, so I'd probably be fine with almost anything. I thought Cass looked nice, though, as well as being awesome. Yes, please give us someone less femme. And I'm not even butch or anything. I just want more variety. Not that there is anything wrong with being a butch, everyone has their place. Like you, some variety in queer women would be nice yup. As for me, not sure where I fall, perhaps leaning towards androgynous trash with tattoos but with a love for make-up so... I don't know. Bah, labels. Yeah, labels. My philosophy with labels is that they're fine for giving someone a general sense of one of your traits, but I try not to assume too much from them and hope others do the same for me. For instance, describing me as a "socialist, atheist, lesbian" is useful to give people some sense of who I am, but unfortunately I know it also carries a lot of extra baggage with it and most will inevitably assume too much. Admittedly, even for me it's hard not to think of a whole host of things instantly when reading those words. In other words, I think we should keep labels, but teach people to take them with a bunch of salt. Since we're sharing, I'm probably somewhere between androgynous and femme, considering my appearance, preferred clothes, and makeup. People keep saying it's about stereotypes, but I doubt it. If it was about stereotypes, they wouldn't have Isabela, Zevran, Iron Bull, etc be bi. Oh, I agree that it's not about stereotypes. I actually think it has more to do with catering to some other demographic more than ours, to be honest. Probably don't need to explain further. Since she's our SO, I'd be worried if she didn't like science. It was then that I realized the acronym for "Science Officer" is the same as the one for "Significant Other." I SO want our SO to be an SO! ... .....I am still upset about Cass being straight But, wouldn't it be nice if we had the KISA choice tho? Count me in the gay KISA advocate club! It makes me very sad that we still haven't had a gay or bi KISA of either gender in DA or ME They're lovely. I mean, I love the Cullen romance now. Imagine if he was a woman instead Also, (about Cathe's post) obligatory: I mean, I knew going in it wouldn't work, but it still sucked, primarily for it echoing some real life stuff at the time (and yeah, I'm a masochist sometimes). Imagine playing it for the first time and not knowing. The "This ends all possibility of romance" choice implies that if you don't take it, there is a possibility. But nope.

Not gonna quote, you, BansheeOwnage, since your post is very long. I think it'd be really cool if Suvi is a little like Cassandra: intense, passionate, idealistic, religious. We know she's not gonna be a squadmate, but I'd love to see her have some really badass moments in the story. As for me, I tend to date other femmes too, though it's not really a preference or anything. I just feel like having all our f/f options be all young and femme is kind of... I don't know. It gets into weird implications about who it's for, as you said in your post.
