If watch briefly at 1:17 when Ryder covers behind the Nomad, you'll see the pilot door to the Nomad open. No more mysteriously appearing and disappearing out of vehicles!!!! Looks like we can actually enter the vehicle via animation. Actually, no. There was a tweet from Aaron Flynn saying that they had an animation for entering/exiting the Nomad but they canned it because it took too long and was awkward or something. That's likely in relation to going from the Tempest to the Nomad rather than going from the Nomad to feet though.

I'm well aware of the codex. Like I said, they can expand the lore in tiny ways without crashing the franchise. A system with nonuniform numbers really doesn't make sense, to be honest, but I'm trying to make it palatable. Its entirely possible that C8 is not an official Alliance vocational designation. The AI is not Alliance, even if they mimic it in certain ways, methods and structures. "Expand". At least call it what is: retcon. Well, and that pretty much the entirety of its leaders are from the Alliance. And the fact there is an Alliance fleet that guards the Nexus and Arks during construction and while in the Milky Way. Yeah, I'm not sure the Alliance is involved at all in the AI. They guard the big ass ships above Earth, naturally. Do you know that they also guard the construction of the other three arks? Maybe they do, maybe not. I'm not privy to that info, nor to the extent of the Alliance's involvement in the AI. Since AI is a human driven venture, I'd expect it to take a lot of cues from the Systems Alliance. That doesn't mean the Alliance is pulling the strings. If you're turned off by most of what you're seeing, there isn't much anyone can say to change that. I hope you feel better about the game once you get hands-on experience with it. I don't want MEA to be the nail in ME's coffin for you.

I was not expecting this trailer today, but I am glad it's here. There certainly shades of the combat we're accustomed to mixed in, but the new features like the jump-pack really show. It looks like a flexible combat system that will allow players to approach battles in several ways. The new takes on certain biotic and tech powers really appeal to me, especially being able to hold enemies in the air before sending them flying with a biotic throw. Cover is still a thing, but, with all of the new options, its use will rely on the player's preference. There will probably be situations where hunkering down will make the most sense.
Mechs are still around, but that's not really news. What surprised me the most was how good the gunplay sounds and the difference between Milky Way, Remnant, and Helius weaponry being just notable enough to impact gameplay. I prefer beam weapons, but the homing, plasma round remind of the old Ghostbusters game and I like that.
Also, did anyone else get an Angaran vibe from the armor shown at the end? It looked very alien in comparison to the armors we've seen until now.

The confusion was to be expected on a companion equipped with Biotic Charge. That was never going to work ideally. I noticed, too, that feet still sink into the "hard terrain" textures, as they did in the OT. It makes it look like our team is standing ankle deep in stone, more times than not. I saw a lot of small issues, and noticed some things that seemed lacking, but it looks pretty cool, nonetheless. The problems were on Liam as well though. It could be that player had them set to an "aggressive" AI setting. The game was clearly on an easier difficulty. Plus, he sucked at the game. We can only hope that they'll function more efficiently when employed with more skill. We'll learn more about companion AI, sooooon.

I think it's pretty safe to assume that, after all the lore itself says N7 is the highest possible rank, and that's why Sheppard was N7. And I sincerely doubt that a pathfinder with not much military training can get such a rank. It's certainly the highest rank in the Alliance Military. N7 isn't a rank actually. It's a code for a military occupational specialty. To compare it to the real world, take for example a US Marine Corporal who is an 0861. Corporal would be his rank, and 0861 his vocational code. The 08 signifies artillery and 61 the specific job within the artillery, in this case a Forward Observer. The N in N7 signifies special operations. The number designation is a bit different than real world occupational specialties in that it doesn't indicate a specific job within special operations (i.e. medic, scout-sniper, ect) but rather the degree of training a person has completed at the Alliance's special operations training center. (N-School, or the Villa) 7 is the highest and also requires combat experience, unlike the other 6. Shepard's N7 status didn't give him or her authority over higher ranking officers like Hackett. All of Shepard's authority would have come from his or her rank (Lt. Commander) and billet as commanding officer of the SSV Normandy. Spectre isn't a rank either for that matter, something that confused a lot of fans. "Why do I have to listen to Hackett?" "Why can't I just sail off with the Normandy and tell the Alliance to pound sand?" Ect, ect.

PogChamp looks sweet - I just wonder how it's going to work since you can't pause to activate your powers like in ME1-ME3. I liked that and being able to plan my next move or two for me or my squadmates.

I'll join too and can bring blood sacrifice. Did anyone notice Sara's C8 insignia where N7 used to be? Maybe this was covered pages ago *sigh* The numbers are only supposed to go up to 7. That's only for the N designation I believe. I don't think anything was said about any of the other letter designations. C8 may never end up explained as well, sort of like the S1 on Ashley's armor. It may just be an aesthetic detail that doesn't have a story behind it.

The Andromeda Initiative is a civilian venture. Alliance rank doesn't matter any more. I mean... maybe humanity creates a new organization that is in every way analogous to the Alliance but...
I don't think Ryder ever becomes an "N7" they're just able to equip the armor with the insignia. Who is going to tell them otherwise? Alliance has no jurisdiction here.

Bad things:
- Gunplay looks unsatisfactory. - Environments look very meh. DA:I tier. - AI looks really bad. Here, just shoot me while I stand still in the open. - No use of cover.
Good things:
- Mobility looks good. - Animations look fluid.
Now, what's the point of all this fluid mobility and all these gameplay choices if the enemy is as stupid as a rock. A good combat system requires good AI. Learn from Dark souls.

They need to ask Luke Barrett how to make great AI. Seriously this is not impressive at all.

Supposedly the AI also improves on the harder difficulties. I doubt they have any aspirations to be like Dark Souls, though.

One thing I'd love to see is how insanity combat plays out, though I know I wont see that until I actually get my hands on the game.
These trailers tend to involve one of the devs playing on the lowest difficulty just so that they don't have to worry about staying alive and can focus on showing off specific abilities, weapons, or maneuvers.
I'm just curious as to how much I can get away without using cover on the higher difficulties.

Although I agree with what you're saying, and indeed Crysis 2 is a great example of how you can do everything else right but have your gameplay sabotaged by bad AI, Dark Souls' barely have any AI at all. Pretty much all enemies do is run towards you an engage in some kind of patterns. They work because nothing more than this basic behavior is asked of them. In a game like MEA you would expect much more.

Well if this is just the first trailer in a series detailing the combat system, hopefully we'll see more tactically challenging stuff. I'm still pretty huped by what I saw.

AI is simply non-existant, but overall looks acceptable. I suppose I'm satisfied with combat part. If story is at least decent, then the game is sold for me.

Also, the gun sounds. Guns in ME:A, as far as I can tell, don't sound nearly as good, as say, The Division. It's like they've been recorded behind a noise filter.
This is basically Dragon Age: Inquisition with 3 skill slots and guns. Not a bad thing of course. Still lacks the "oomph" IMO.
