^ In DE Mankind Divided you can make a handgun into full automatic like a machine gun too. It's pretty fun actually. I already know I'll be messin' around with that crafting system for hours. Gameplay looks like a lot of fun. This is exactly what I've been wanting to see since E3 of last year. Rock-solid framerates will always feel better than higher, but unstable framerates (i.e. being locked at 30FPS will feel better than frequently bouncing between 50-60). Granted, as your framerate gets higher, the less noticeable dips of 10-15FPS will be. It's due to refresh rates. If you're at 60Hz it means the screen updates 60 times per second, and so a framerate 50% of that rate will be evenly divided but 45fps or anything between 30-60 or below 30 will feel annoying and flickery because it is odd and inbetween the refresh rate, you actually miss certain frames in a sense. I had issues with understanding this. This straightened me out:

It's got nothing to do with your eye though. It's your screen and the way it displays moving pictures (by blinking frames in a rate (refered to as Herz or Hz and 60Hz is the norm). If you have 31-60fps on a 60Hz and those rates change they're secretly changing by decimals like 31.1fps and such and whenever it is that miniscule framerate (updates inside the screen (or program)) gets out of sync with the refresh-rate (updates on the screen)

It has to do with transmission speed. As to the rest... What? Huh? Secret decimal? Stays out of sync? Sorry now I am lost again.

I think he's just trying to explain that when frame rates go up and down instead of being static, it can feel odd because your inputs (like moving around) don't feel consistent. This is only really noticeable when you get "spikes", like say...you're at 60fps then all of a sudden you drop to 40.

Even in that 60, 30, 15 video it didn't bother me one way or the other. Was just trying to help and understand.

Sweet merciful God Emperor, that was worth the wait I had to endure today! Thanks to that video I now have about a thousand different character ideas to try out. I'm loving the way that the base gameplay looks like a refined ME3 multiplayer. Is it March 23rd yet?

I'm impressed how good the combat looks. Smooth pacing, transition between abilities, everything else is just great combined with old and new combat mechanics. Overall the game looks cool with bright and colorful visuals making combo use even more eye-candy. Guess I need a good gaming PC to pull the most out of it.

Nope, you don't have to create SMGs through the crafting system. As in ME3, there are "hand cannon" style pistols and there are SMGs. We just organize them both into the general "pistols" category for UI and skill purposes. That said, you CAN use the crafting system to make something fully auto that normally wouldn't be... Well that just made my day. Hopefully we can use the crafting system to select other fire modes as well such as 2 or 3 round burst.

Combat looks good to me, I like being able to choose whichever abilities and weapons I like.
And being able to switch between different groups of three abilities in combat is a relief, I was concerned I'd be stuck with the same three powers the whole combat.

I actually just modded the time dilation out of the game files, myself =P How do you do that with Biotic Charge? I found references to that and played around with the values, but it never worked. I didn't mind the Time Dilation on Charge in ME2 and I didn't mind Adrenaline Rush either, but Mass Effect 3's biotic charge really, really bothered me in Singleplayer. If I remember right the actual value used was referenced as a stinger under biotic charge rather than time dilation.

For example, I couldn't see screen tearing for the life of me until the moment I turned off vsync in Saints Row the Third on the 360 to get a smoother framerate. Ever since then, I've been able to see screen tearing everywhere, from youtube videos and even the games that had it but I never noticed when I first played them.

Mass Effect is about a group of people wandering space and doing shit, so said group should come along and do shit with you when you're out and about. And as I said, meat shields. Nothing wrong with having people soak up damage while you do some reckless ass moves that wouldn't be possible solo. And who knows, maybe you can run solo like Inquisition.
