I'd rather have them than not, even if they're stupid. Mass Effect is about a group of people wandering space and doing shit, so said group should come along and do shit with you when you're out and about. And as I said, meat shields. Nothing wrong with having people soak up damage while you do some reckless ass moves that wouldn't be possible solo. And who knows, maybe you can run solo like Inquisition. I was thinking that the biotic shield was meant precisely for the purpose to force the enemy to turn their gaze towards the meat shields. Or some will shoot to distract from the ones trying to flank.

How do you do that with Biotic Charge? I found references to that and played around with the values, but it never worked. I didn't mind the Time Dilation on Charge in ME2 and I didn't mind Adrenaline Rush either, but Mass Effect 3's biotic charge really, really bothered me in Singleplayer. If I remember right the actual value used was referenced as a stinger under biotic charge rather than time dilation. Ah, thanks. Interesting. Now I'm almost tempted to go with Vanguard in my final ME-Run before MEA, but I guess I'll stick with Adept.

Or some will shoot to distract from the ones trying to flank. I thought you said you thought the AI would be shit. I said squad AI would be dumb. Enemy AI, even if dumb, is already known to have flanking routines. That means the ones that don't flank will attack in ways to distract for those that don't. Even stupid AI can do that.

I'm going to wait until the full game to judge, although I'm not particularly optimsitic on squad AI. I am interested in squad commands. Ian said on tweet we can build up Drack to set up fire priming with Cora charging to detonating them, so there should be a degree of control.

Daaaamn! That Combat Trailer looked amazing! The controls look so smooth, and then there is that dynamic cover system! Plus, the return of our Milky Way Weapons like the Avenger, Crusader, Valkyrie, Widow and even our beloved Mattock! With the in depth combat video shown, all I would like to see now is just a 'bit' of Character Creation. And I would be all set! But I am seriously thinking about going dark, to avoid any more story spoilers of any kind. Trailers are always fun to watch, but they spoil a lot of the surprises for me. I'd just like to see a few of the CC options, and I'll be satisfied until March.

Realtime AI in games has pretty much stagnant for like 10 years or so. FEAR had some good AI if I remember correctly and that was released in 2005.
Also, someone quoted Dark Souls for good AI earlier...hahahahahahahahaha...no!

Combat looks way more dynamic than the trilogy and I'm looking forward to trying out some of those plasma weapons but Christ did the AI look dumb. When are we expecting the next video to drop?

Also, someone quoted Dark Souls for good AI earlier...hahahahahahahahaha...no! FEAR 'smart' AI was partly due to clever level design. That and some well timed scripted moments. Point still stands, AI in games in general and specifically in shooters is never all that great and it won't be for a long time. Mostly because, unlike humans, AI in games can't adapt or think creatively, which is an advantage the player has. I order to create a challenging game it is easier to instead create a variety of different enemies with different behaviour to use in your encounters and the mix of those enemies and how they work together makes the challenge. Bioware has been going for this approach ever since Mass Effect 2 and it's a tried and proven method ever since the first doom. I'm interested in seeing how it works in higher difficulties. Tweets said that AI behaviour would change apart from enemies getting tougher/dealing more damage. Actually I just suspect them to be more aggressive, to pressure you more though.

Awesome. So weapon (and armor?) crafting works similarly to FO4. This is only a good thing. So many options, its making my mouth water. FO4 handled it very poorly though. It went from a system in which you had to buy the mods from vendors (New Vegas) to another in which you could craft everything yourself even super high tech stuff. And half of the crafting system was just to increase the weapon damage stats with 100 receivers that essentially did the same. Armor was handled a bit better in the sense that some upgrades where to give you more protection about specific damages and bonuses to stealth for instance. In short, FO4 crafting system was a bit overdone with a lot of redundancy.

Ian said some armours/weapons can only be crafted and not looted for story reasons. Do you think Alec's armour the siblings use in some shots and the model figures is one of them?

Most likely considering they aren't trully ranked N7. Well i enjoyed that (no boobs) armor that Sara was using on the video, i guess i will go for it if i decide to change the AI armor (which is nice too) for another.

Watching the new trailer in 60fps vs 30fps (choosing 480p) is interesting... Why would you torture yourself? Because us PS4 users will have to adjust to a mere 30 fps

It's got nothing to do with your eye though. It's your screen and the way it displays moving pictures (by blinking frames in a rate (refered to as Herz or Hz and 60Hz is the norm). If you have 31-60fps on a 60Hz and those rates change they're secretly changing by decimals like 31.1fps and such and whenever it is that miniscule framerate (updates inside the screen (or program)) gets out of sync with the refresh-rate (updates on the screen) Eyes can play a part since many people say they can't see a difference and may not notice unless they witness it first hand side by side and have that How I Met Your Mother glass shattering moment. For example, I couldn't see screen tearing for the life of me until the moment I turned off vsync in Saints Row the Third on the 360 to get a smoother framerate. Ever since then, I've been able to see screen tearing everywhere, from youtube videos and even the games that had it but I never noticed when I first played them. But that has nothing to do with your eyes. You saw it when you turned off vsync because screen tearing does not happen with vsync on at all. You then see it in YouTube videos because you have noticed what vsync is like. It's the same with framerate. You don't look at 30fps if it's the first thing you ever see on a screen and go "huh, it looks so choppy" but when you see 60fps after being used to 30 your brain will think "why does it look smoother than real life?" And it's a brain-adjustment thing, not an eyesight thing. Your eye sees more fluidity than any framerate can offer as it is.

Well, this pleases me greatly. The idea of hovering around like a gorram attack chopper then becoming biotic death from above makes my controller tingle.
Edit: Wait, I can use an enemy's body as a meat shield with biotics? Where has this been all my life?

I don't know if someone noticed and talk about it, but from 0:49 you can see two scenes were Ryder moved by side, and up, with biotic powers, not jetpacks.
