How do you feel about them? . Melee weapons were obsolete by the 19th Century and should remain so in any universe where high-powered firearms exist. That said, melee weapons have been a thing since ME3, so I figured they'd have a prominent role in any future ME games. That, and I realize I'm probably in the minority in disliking them. Bioware is just giving the fans what they want. I'm not really bothered too much by it because I expected melee weapons to have a larger presence in the series, but if I could wave a magic wand and make them gone, they'd be gone. They make more sense in a world with shields, not-magic powers, invisibility cloaks, and superhumanly strong or fast aliens I find. Melee weapons are obsolete in real life because a human can shoot another human toting a sword way beyond their effective range. When you can shrug off some amount of firepower (with shields or just being a Krogan) and/or displace yourself in the blink of an eye with Biotics, they start to be a better option.

I really recommend to visit some self defense classes and learn how weapons really work. At certain distances (~15 ft or 5 meters) an attacker with a blade will be able to hit you before you can draw and aim your firearm. Many police officers had to learn this the hard way and today gun vs knife is a very important part of police training. Also knifes can be used to take out guards etc. without drawing too much attention through very loud gunshots. If I went into modern combat I sure as hell would carry a combat knife along with my rifle and pistol, it takes up little space, does not weigh much and should the situation arise where I need a blade I have one. It makes zero sense not to have a combat knife in your loadout.

I find it difficult to believe that a non-Krogan, a Human at that, could wield a Krogan hammer.

I find it difficult to believe that a non-Krogan, a Human at that, could wield a Krogan hammer. It doesn't look that large. It reminds me of TRAITORtrooper's space baton.

I understand the cool factor they have to some people, but I don't really care for them.
Omni-blade, maybe a tactical knife, biotic punch... OK. Sure. Especially if you're expecting close quarters.
But lugging around a heavy-ass hammer (that apparently weighs nothing), that magically appears when we swing it and then disappears? When all our other weapons are something we clearly carry with us? I'll pass.

I want an Omni-Shield in MEA:SP/MP, best utility melee in ME3MP, it's great for tossing melee enemies off of you, & can prime them for a Fire Explosion as well.

It makes zero sense not to have a combat knife in your loadout. I'm not talking about ambushing people with a knife in close quarters, I know that's effective. I'm talking about doing what some people in Mass Effect do, taking to a battlefield with a sword or hammer as one of their main weapons (if not their main weapon). That doesn't happen on a modern battlefield, you just get shot. Whereas the technology of the ME setting makes it more viable to close in melee combat before being turned into swiss cheese.

What series/movie is this? Original light novel/manga "All You Need Is Kill" are better But reading is evil. (This, despite the fact that being an author would be my dream job.)
On topic, I'm excited about melee weapon options. I don't care that it won't always make the best tactical sense. Fun trumps logic.
