The next vid should make it clear how this works, but if not, poke me after and I'll provide some additional clarity. Thanks for listening Already we are in a whole different ball-game compared to 3 powers only

Too many questions left sir. Though definitely ready for the profiles/favorites vid since that is where I have big Q's left. Crackseed @dacrackseed
Just wondering how the swapping works for example. 3 slots but potential 12 skills total, how do we swap them - hotkey faves? Michael GambleV @gamblemike
yup, and off of the radial menu option there are hotkey to access it. Maybe the d pad on console.

If Jockey is right i wonder what this could mean for game development as a whole that they can add something this major, so late in production.

I think they may have gotten paranoid about marketing so they didn't show that stuff on purpose. This is what I think. I never understood building hype months in advance. Hype can only get so much and then you are paying to try and maintain hype (impossible, always tapers off to a degree) for a long time. I think they made very little changes to the game since the fall because the game is ready and have just been polishing. I believe it was delyaed to get it out of the bloated 2016 holiday season (really good idea considering how everything underperformed) and to get it further away from the bad taste in space exploration gamers mouth caused by No Man's Sky (probably the main, and best reason. That game has been cited as a large reason in the underperformance of holiday sales due to making gamers more cynical and sharing part of a genre would not help).

I think they were still figuring out the system and they didn't want to give any indications of things that might've not been present in the final game. It matches the fact that they were tight-lipped about it, and that they gave more hints of being able to use more then three powers In combat recently. As for the tweet, I think it's fairly clear we have two way of accessing it, but we'll see it soon enough I guess.

I was actually wondering about that. There is shield, yes, but I was actually curious about what the Barrier Passive was. Is that the same thing? Maybe we'll upgrade/choose them in the power screen. Shield: Barrier: I'm glad you provided the pics. [Edit: Shoot. Still missing that skill selection screen. I thought it was here. I know it's in the thread.] It looks to me as if Barrier is a passive upgrade to our existing shields. PCs with this passive might go from having the blue "shields" bar to the purple "barrier" bar. For PCs, there has never been a true distinction, anyway. I believe this is just a way to permanently boost our defenses. That would beg the question of whether powers like Fortification and Defense Matrix still exist. If so, they could not also be stackable passives, or always-on invincibility would be a legitimate thing. Maybe they go back to being active powers? Perhaps they no longer exist? Maybe I'm wrong about Barrier? (I doubt the latter, given it's clear description and passive status.) Some stuff likely won't be clear until we get to play. Cool thread, TaliWhacker , and all who have contributed. This one should be fun to engage in and track.

Barrier is now a passive so it is most likely a way to upgrade our shield while still putting points in biotic profiles. The tech tree probably has normal shield upgrades and the combat tree has health upgrades.

Cool thread, TaliWhacker , and all who have contributed. This one should be fun to engage in and track. Yes, you could be right. Although, I think lorewise it would make more sense if it was actually the opposite. (Not that I'm saying it is wrong!!) See it from this perspective: Biotics spends a lot more energy than a "regular" person. They have to eat more, sleep more. Using these kind of abilities take a toll on the person long term, so it makes sense to me that maintaining a barrier during combat needs a lot more concentration. So, for a person that have access to both biotics and tech powers, it would actually make more sense if they utilize protection to the max from tech powers and focus their biotics for damage or other things that are not "permanent". At least, that's what I always had in mind for why sentinels in the trilogy used shields instead of barriers. Vanguards and Adepts are talented with biotics, so naturally their barriers would've been a better protection than ordinary shields. At least, it was what I assumed. Now, again, I'm not complaining that barriers will be the "upgraded" version of protection, it doesn't go against the lore, it was just more reasonable to me, that the opposite was the better solution. I guess barriers are indeed that much stronger. And it looks cooler anyway!

Now, again, I'm not complaining that barriers will be the "upgraded" version of protection, it doesn't go against the lore, it was just more reasonable to me, that the opposite was the better solution. I hear you. I don't think of the passive as a replacement or upgrade, but as an enhancement. The character who invests in Barrier has chosen to enhance his or her shields* with biotics. * I typed kinetic barriers here, and backed it out for ease of reading. It's all semantics, of course. Regardless of tech or biotic origin, they're all kinetic barriers created via mass effect field. You're dead-on about biotic powers being exhausting. I liked the nod to lore at Grissom Academy in ME3. ("Juice and energy bars.") While we never really see the destructive peaks of biotic power in-game that the lore describes, lore doesn't really support the inexhaustible combat biotics of Shepard and Ryder, either. Given a choice, I'll take our inexhaustible bad-asses every time.

I'm concerned about their use though. Will be limited, won't it? A max number of shots until we run off special ammo. The special ammo is craft-able and lasts for two magazines of ammo I believe. It may be possible to craft more than 4 types of ammo as well. The limit is just for selectable ammo trhoguh the WHeel. The 4 guns will most likely be one of the 4 weapon types (submachine gun was rolled into pistol). I wouldn't expect to be able to take multiple assault rifles. I think they confirmed that you can in fact take more than one of the same weapon type. One of the earlier trailers showed two shotguns in the weapon wheel too!

I just did the math and we can actually end up using half of the abilities available for use. Pretty happy about that. They must have seen the complaints from DA:I about the 8 ability limit so they compensated with fewer abilities and more abilities available for use. There are a total of 24 abilities and with the ability to use 12 that gives us half. Had to count all the abilities, but there it is. There will be more. You will unlock abilities the higher up you rank your Profiles. This was confirmed with a passive during the CES gameplay. Also some notables missing are Warp, Stasis, and Reave. I wouldn't be shocked if lash, smash, and and dark channel made an appearance. I also think that some abilities will be earned, secret, and loyalty rewards. I'm curious about where you heard/saw this. I went through the power and profile stuff in the CES trailer and didn't see anything about unlocking additional powers. If you're talking about how rank 4 of Engineer unlocks 'Technical Overseer', I took that to just be the title for rank 4 of the profile. Each profile rank has a unique name.

More power options are always welcome. Now, hold that hype until they show us some story bits, dialogue options and CC. Then, if it's good, you can unleash it upon us all. The CC is probably the thing I am most worry about at this point. Also a little story wise. I mean gameplay is all over the place, I really did not get why people were so concern about it.

You've been right about most things so far it seems, so I wouldn't be shocked if you were right about this too! *crosses fingers for warp/reave as a bonus power* Per Ian, Warp is not a bonus power, but rather its functionality has been rolled into another power. This is as I predicted, earlier. These new powers and evolutions are pretty, uh, powerful. Intriguing, too. I can't wait to dig into them. Edward Hopewell sirulrichvlDuring the Weapons and Skills video when the biotic skills were shown Warp wasn't in the list. Is that skill/ability in MEA? Ian S. Frazier @tibermoonNo. Its functionality has been absorbed into other powers, though. bsn.boards.net/post/302334/threadRealistically, Warp wasn't too exciting. Rolling it into another, more well rounded power is a good move. Every point I specced into Warp, I always wished I could be spending on Reave, anyway, for instance. I know I'm not alone.
