Well that is awesome, especially for a combat focused class. Expect to see the best combat builds having a duplicate of the highest DPS remnant weapons equipped then. Swap on overheat, rinse and repeat. "The best" are going to be pretty hard to find I think. Did you notice the rankings of rarity in the gameplay trailer? I did. It looks to be like they are hard to get but that will most likely be in I-X tier variant. NG+ will be where the craziest stuff happens, which I love because I am all about NG+, Dark Souls 2 is my favorite solely based on that. I really meant best not as in tier but as in a "cerberus harrier level 1 is better than any other assault rifle level 1" way. That actually reminds me, in my play through of ME1 last month I had every character completely kitted out in the best X level gear before I was lvl 32 because of the Dr. Michel sell/buy exploit and the Pinnacle Station terminal.

"The best" are going to be pretty hard to find I think. Did you notice the rankings of rarity in the gameplay trailer? Also the issue of weight to consider. 4 of the same gun? Is it worth the ability to swap? For a combat class that is all about leveraging weapon DPS absolutely. Some skills like "turbo" (which seems awesome) will have a cool-down, but most combat abilities are tied to consumables so the weight wont affect it. Think about a high DPS beam weapon that has a short fire length to balance it. Now just swap weapons to use it more than balance intends.

Though I know it's probably a pipe dream, I'd be sort of pleased if gear capped at Tier V. That would be one small nod toward high-level balance, at least. I know I can choose to not upgrade my gear, but that's just not going to happen very often.

You find and craft weapons with different rankings.

No problem. You've been right about most things so far it seems, so I wouldn't be shocked if you were right about this too! *crosses fingers for warp/reave as a bonus power* Per Ian, Warp is not a bonus power, but rather its functionality has been rolled into another power. This is as I predicted, earlier. These new powers and evolutions are pretty, uh, powerful. Intriguing, too. I can't wait to dig into them. Edward Hopewell sirulrichvlDuring the Weapons and Skills video when the biotic skills were shown Warp wasn't in the list. Is that skill/ability in MEA? Ian S. Frazier @tibermoonNo. Its functionality has been absorbed into other powers, though. bsn.boards.net/post/302334/threadRealistically, Warp wasn't too exciting. Rolling it into another, more well rounded power is a good move. Every point I specced into Warp, I always wished I could be spending on Reave, anyway, for instance. I know I'm not alone. YES! So first off thank you for the new info and then thank you again for clearing that up. I was wondering why warp was missing. I am still confident that there are more abilities because it is like you said, Reave was what Warp wished it was. Lance might have taken the place of Warp. It sounds like Lance is the N7 Slayers Phase disruptor, I think, in the way it activates with hopefully the de-buffing effect of Warp.

I'd like it to stop at Tier V permanently. Those Tier X weapons in ME3 were too good. They were only one small part of the issue, of course. That's why I say that a lower cap in MEA would be a nod, at least, toward better balance at high-levels. We'll already have all the powers and profiles. Do we need Tier X weapons, too? I guess it won't make a huge difference for some builds, anyway.

I know you're not alone in preferring reave to warp. That's fine. I personally loved warp tho and I think it was one of the most well-rounded powers in the game. It was a debuff, DoT against armour and barriers, and both a primer and a detonator. What else did it need to do? Plus knowing you were tearing someone apart at the molecular level with your brain was pretty cool from an RP perspective. I'll take that over flashy animations any day. Excitement is in the eye of the beholder, I guess. TaliWhacker I'm thinking that invasion is one of the powers Ian was talking about (even tho it's tech), given its debuff effect. Lance could be another.

Reave's mechanics never made a lot of sense to me, honestly, and I only used it on my very occasional Vanguard. I'm hoping for a new power or evolution that combines lore and effect into one beautiful package. Whatever the individual powers end up being, it's great to be free of the preselected power assortment!

Whatever the individual powers end up being, it's great to be free of the preselected power assortment! Hmmm, I don't think I would agree that it 'brought so much more to the table'. Assuming we're talking ME3 and not 2, reave had the following characteristics: - DoT (stacking) - Damage resistance for the caster (vs organics only) - Radius evolution (at the expense of duration) - Primes and detonates BEs but not other combos - Hitscan Warp: - 75% damage up front, 25% over time - Expose evolution (at the expense of more damage) - Prevents enemy health regen - Primes and detonates BEs, also detonates all other combos - Panics unprotected enemies - Projectile I'm not trying to argue that one is better than the other, just that there is no clear winner in terms of what offers more. It's all subjective. TBH I would have been happy for either power or even a hybrid of the two. I guess we'll have to see what the likes of invasion and lance can do. Agree with your last comment tho.

ProbeAway Invasion is definitely like a tech warp, but the tech in the description says "weakens defenses and spreads itself to nearby enemies." That makes me think it is more like a tech version of Dark Channel.
