2020 sounds about right...
Although personally I think it's a bit too long...by then it will be straddling another console release.

Maybe like the Dishonored series? With co op potential and story/characters at Bioware levels? Hmm . . .could get interesting. Also, Bioware has yet to enter the post apocalyptic Fallout, Horizon Zero, Last of Us type scene. Or the Bioware version of Red Dead?

For some reason, I am not seeing a 2018 release. I'd say 2019 or 2020, although 2020 seems a bit long.

New ip or not, 2020 is WAY too long, and even 2019 is long. I don't know when they started working on it, but i can't say that i would be ok with waiting from 2014 till 2019 for a DA game that uses the same engine as the previous one.
Way too long anyway, and with DA class system and specs, you can never know if there's gonna be what you like to play as, in the game. It almost never is anyway. So bleh >.>

If they are planning to release it then worst case 2020 probably but i doubt EA allows a 6 years delay between entries. then again i never thought they let Mass Effect IP rest for 5 years. not that it helped much anyway sadly. i would say 2018 but the new IP makes me go for 2019 since they probably want to put a distance between their releases.

Since the new IP is due for Q1 2018 (if the articles i have read are trustworthy) it is highly doubtful we will be seeing anything Dragon Agey for at least 6 month after (i'm being very generous with that, it's likely we won't see anything for a while after New IP).
However, since Dragon Age has a following, there is a chance we could hear something about it. I wouldn't hold my breath, though. We haven't heard anything since the concept art/red book, after all. I would assume there's not all that much to show right now.

What would you like to play as? Well, if you're asking ... the spec that's not in DAI that I'd most love to have back is Force Mage. (Some elements of it were incorporated into Rift Mage, but it's just not as viscerally satisfying as it was in DA2.) The new spec from DAI that I most want to see carried forward is Artificer, because using a grappling-hook to whoosh into a group of mobs to drop a bunch of grenades before backflipping away is ridiculously fun. I'd like to see Blood Mage back if we're going to Tevinter, but I guess that's a question of whether reactions to it it can be properly integrated into the story or not.

All I know is, if the release date for the next single player Elder Scrolls is announced, any other game due for release around the same time will suddenly have production problems.

So you guys think DA4 will be about a world ending story like inquisition and origins or more of a personal story like DA2?

So you guys think DA4 will be about a world ending story like inquisition and origins or more of a personal story like DA2? Perfect world is a bit of both. I'd like an ORigin that makes me give a crap about my character and where they came from. all the DAI backgrounds were one of the countries in the Free MArches, but that is super fuzzy. I know Kirkwall, I know Fereldan, I know ish Orlais, I know even less about Antiva,REvain, Nevarra, Seheron, PAr Vollen, and Starkhaven. But my character is from some country I can't remember the name of even now! And then Briala makes some snide comment about Trevelyan being a drunk. Why? Because I'm human or because of the country I'm from? Is my country Irish-ish so stereotypically full of drunks? @_@ Who am I?! If they did the game in Acts like DA2, the first act could be all about settling into who your character is and their life and assosciates. 2nd Act etc, can be about "saving the city/world."

Couldn't have said it better myself. The only thing we knew about Ostwick is that Isabella was halfway there after taking the relic before she knew she had to come back

This thread is so eerie I just 'liked' a post from 3 years ago....Vishantae Kaffas.
Anyways honestly there is still too little information to make an informed judgement. It *could* release H2 2020. It *could* release H1 or H2 2021...or it *could* release in 2023. We just don't know because BW continues to hold their cards close to their chest...and for good reason.

As far as I'm concerned, it's already taken too long. They were fools in the extreme to abandon a well-regarded franchise to work on a new IP that wound up being sub-par.
They also should never have released that teaser trailer. They built hype without having anything significant to show, they are burning the goodwill of the fans that have already waited five years with no news. Nobody else even cares they exist.

It's still in preproduction... it will take a few years unless they crunch it out from start to finish which I really, really hope they won't do.
2023 is my guess.

Current BioWare strategy seems to dictate at least 3 years fucking about and 18 months actual development (read: Crunch), so early 2024 at the earliest. I don't see DA4 being any different to Andromeda or Anthem. I've seen no evidence whatsoever they've taken anything on-board from their gigantic fuck ups. But hey! Have no fear, Casey's here! Christ. And relax.

It's still in preproduction... it will take a few years unless they crunch it out from start to finish which I really, really hope they won't do. 2023 is my guess. If they crunch, and I am talking mad crunch, like take Anthem crunch and x2 it, then it's 18 months to release, if they leave pre-production today. So q1 2021 is the absolute earliest they could come out with it. Realistically, it's looking more like Q4 2023, with the inevitable delay to Q1 2024. That makes it around 9 months short of a decade, between DA:I and DA4. And it's not like it is a forbidding timespan. After all, it's been how many years since FF7 to get that remake? And how many years since BG2 for Larian to announce BG3? But DA:I is nowhere close to the league of such a heritage to justify anyone's wait. At least, anyone that isn't a hardcore Bioware fan and, even so, 5 years of wait after the release of Anthem? Anthem? You need a cheap intermediate title to flush out, just to stay in people's minds. I mean, even in the slow march to Dragon Age: Origins, which had production start around after ... KotoR? You had Jade Empire. You had Mass Effect. You're going to keep traction going with Anthem Updates? Casey, my man, I don't see it happening. You need something out at some point in 2021. And the way you are going right now, you're not going to hit that.

I know fans want the game right now, but if people were as outraged as they were about BioWare crunching their devs (as far back as DA:I), then its best they get the time they need to make the game. “A delayed game is eventually good. A bad game is bad forever.” -- Shigeru Miyamoto It's still in preproduction... it will take a few years unless they crunch it out from start to finish which I really, really hope they won't do. 2023 is my guess. If they crunch, and I am talking mad crunch, like take Anthem crunch and x2 it, then it's 18 months to release, if they leave pre-production today. And the way you are going right now, you're not going to hit that. People waited 5 years after GTAV released for Rockstar to release RDR2, and they kept relevancy by updating GTAV; albeit with mixed results. I'm not even trying to compare the caliber of the two studios, but it's that people will flock to your game so long as it has enough promising elements to it. In a climate where there are numerous other WRPG makers out there, and with BioWare's recent games not reaching the high-bar like their previous-gen installments, they need to bring their A-game; and then-some. I don't know what BioWare will do in between DA4's release, outside of updating Anthem and SWTOR, but the studio absolutely needs time to properly flesh out the next DA game.
