When it comes to brand new planets you'll explore, Bioware hasn't really given us a lot of details about them. But one of the big points about visiting each planet is that you'll have to contend with some hostile wildlife. Now this part has me slightly concerned. Does this mean that every alien wildlife you encounter is going to try and kill you? Why can't it be like Dragon Age Inquisition in which some are hostile, the rest are friendly? Okay, I'm not too concerned about that, because we have seen large flying creatures that we can assume are friendly, so it's not like every animal will be immediately hostile toward you.
What does concern me is the hostile wildlife we have seen. With exception of these Varren/dog like creatures, we have seen two very big predator creatures, and although they both have different looks, they seem to have very similar animations. They both look like and seem to move like giant gorillas, and they both growl and try striking at you with their fists. I'm just really concerned that when Bioware promises diverse planet types and wildlife, that doesn't mean the wildlife just LOOK different from each other. They need to FEEL different. They need to move differently and have different forms of attacks. They need to be either lone hunters or pack hunters. Just add variety to these predators!
But I'm not too worried though. Again, we've only seen very little about these new planets, and while we have seen various environments, we only saw THREE forms of predators (one pack of dog-like lizards, and two different big beasts). I'm sure Bioware has more surprises in terms of the wildlife in these planets.

It's unfortunate. aarynflynn said it took too long and slightly annoying. I wish they could keep it in there and we had the option in the menus to switch the animation on and off. Or have it to where it zooms in on Ryder getting in. As it zooms out, the other squad mates are already in the Nomad via the other door. same for getting out. I never minded the animations for FFXV with the car so I would rather have the immersion than shortcuts in ME:A.
They can't connect everything to a menu toggle; especially things like this that happen in gameplay. They'd sooner have made it skippable, I'd think, if possible. The fact that it looked cool, yet still got cut, suggests that it really was both too long and annoying. I'm sure they made the right call. If they'd have left it in, we'd have had threads complaining about its intrusiveness, soon enough. So for me, it's hard to believe that getting into the Nomad would take that long when all they needed to do was mo cap an actor getting into built door space. It's pretty quick with Nathan Drake getting in and out of this jeep, and I imagine if they did it correctly, it would have been quick as long as the door opens quickly (which it does in the gameplay series pt1). The only problem I would see is having to get out quick enough with your squad appearing on the other side of the Nomad and engaging combat. The fact that you can only engage combat on foot means every second counts if that requires you to get out of the vehicle. Otherwise they would do too much damage to the vehicle. This another problem that could have been fixed by placing at least a small gun turret on the Nomad that could engage enemies automatically to provide cover fire while you get out. The turret itself would deal a ton of damage and could have limited use to achieve the same outcome. Side note: After watching this UC4 footage, I bet the worlds in ME:A will be similar to this "open-world" portion in this video. It's not a sandbox and there is a focused objective, but you can deviate from the path if you want to explore a bit.

It's not a sandbox and there is a focused objective, but you can deviate from the path if you want to explore a bit. The Nomad doesn't have weapons though, and they weren't going to go back on that decision in order to preserve an animation. Also, the Nomad is no Jeep; it's a fully enclosed "tank" (sort of). We aren't sure of where the doors are, or how they open. It's not one person for whom animations had to be done, but three. All three need to exit together for cohesive combat to begin. I speculated about the "speed of exit in a hot zone" issue, too. It's one possible complication. They invested development time in this, thought it looked cool, and still removed it. As much as I was looking forward to this animation, I'm confident they made the right choice.

It would love to see hostile wildlife designed in such a way that they will actually flee if the battle goes on too long or they take too much damage, and you can choose whether or not to pursue and kill it or just let it escape.

We've had plenty of non-hostile wildlife in earlier games.
There's no reason to not believe there won't be alien creatures that don't try to kill you.
(they might rob you blind though)

They had a glitch where some wildlife was toting a mini Avenger, but that's not part of the actual game!

If there are dozens and dozens of planets to explore, and only two types of hostile wildlife, then something went pretty wrong in this game's development. I'm sure there will be variety in enemies we encounter. That said, you shouldn't put your expectations to the moon on this one. Storyline and Sentient enemies take priority in a game like this, and there are a lot of them to account for. So I'm not sure how much time and budget that leaves them for hostile wildlife.
You mentioned the varren looking enemies and the gorilla looking ones. There's also that giant cybernetic worm thing we saw in one of the early trailers, and we know some planets will have super optional bosses. So we'll see. I'm expecting at least 6 different regular hostile wildlife at least, and if that's the case, I'm happy with that.
