It is really painful to not be able to stop it. No matter what I do, it doesn't seem to help. I hate to say this, but Gil's story is one of the worst I've ever encountered. It took a while for Gil to grow on me visually, and I have the fanart to thank for that. The Jill stuff is what makes it unbearable. I mean, honestly, who even thought names like Gil and Jill was okay? That's just silly and dumb. To be fair, that is addressed directly in the game by Gil himself. I think the idea behind it was just to have a sort of cute happenstance that a person named Gil and a person named Jill would become close friends. You could have the same thing with another guy named Bill, or Will. I once had a friend that had my same birthday. Unfortunately in this case, the intention is lost amidst all of the other terrible stuff about Jill, so it seems like a forced, cloying sweetness that instead leaves a bitter aftertaste. I think Gil is a swell guy, and the romance does have some nice scenes that don't have anything to do with Jill. The romance has some nice bits that don't involved Jill, yes. I won't disagree there. However, it doesn't make up for the terribleness of Jill though. This is going down as my least favorite Bioware romance, and that sucks. He was the only 100% gay option, and I had so much hope for him. Two months later and it still is making me a bitter blueberry. I didn't mean to come in and shit on the Gil thread. This is more of a Jill-hate post, I promise. |

I know but I've run out ways to call him a cunt based on attitude and content. Got to keep the material fresh. Whatever works! You should've stopped me from buying a t-shirt, but the hype before Andromeda had me thinking unclearly. I was a foggy mess watching YouTubers like crazy. He was one of them. Luckily, I'm out of that now and unfollow Ed him everywhere. Of course, he actually blocked me first on Twitter because I'm a mean gay and Jaal fan. Hahaha Anyways, back to Gil. As I am now romancing Jaal, it feels quite strange to be doing the friendship path with Gil. It is quite a bit...well, awful. The Jill stuff is bad, almost seems worse when Scott isn't there to at least be dating him while that while baby talk is going on. Now, I am powerless to say anything. How is it that our only gay romance ends up with a girl?! Platonic Gil is so, so, so bad. It's all of the shitty Jill stuff without any of the charming Gil-ness you get post-poker game in the romance. |

I'm pretty much set on just... NOT doing the meet on Prodromos with my Jaalmancer. Plus a headcanon or two involving Jill afterwards that's not exactly nice, but satisfying. It may not offer much (doubt it'll keep the whole 'baby' thing from happening... I may have to, much as it pains me, just not talk to GilI'MSORRY! after like the Remnant City or something...
For my part, I intend to repeatedly take to Twitter on saying 'hey, fix this too.' I encourage any of you with a Twitter to join me (mostly because a one-man march won't do much).

Since these things are successive, if you avoid the Prodromos meeting, can't you still talk to him and not have the baby stuff trigger? It seems like that might be a requirement. But you still should get the other post-mission bits. |

Honestly, at this point, the only thing I hope for in a patch is for Gil to not have a baby with Jill even if I am just friends with him. I've resigned my Scott to being single for now, but I like him and was hoping he would get a second chance at finding love in MEA2 (with the inclusion of new cast members). Of course I want all the Gilmancers to get the fixes they deserve, too, but all my hopes and dreams for my Ryder can't be solved via patch. A direct sequel was my only chance.
