Did any of the press post detailed specs of the pc they were using when they encountered hard frame spikes? I seen one speculated that he was running at 4k, but I have my doubts on most reviewers being able to actually notice the difference. Only the one you mentioned. A few others said that the game was runing smothly on average computers, which is good since most PC players will fall under this and i also doubt a lot of people will upgrade to Playstation Pro to test the 4k features.

So why spend so much time here then? You're clearly wanting to hate this game. Why spend time on a forum, talking about it? I'm here because I love Mass Effect. This game, though, is an insult to the Mass Effect series. So that's what I talk about. How is it an insult? It's not even out yet!

This wouldn't have happened if other big companies hadn't started making BioWare-esque games like Witcher 3 and Horizon where facial animations look impressive and polished. Back before we could only compare BioWare face animations to Bethesda games that looked super dumb I dunno if Horizon is a good example to use. I also don't think people are taking into account that Ryder's face can be customized. If a company can develop a game where the protagonist's face can be fully customized, and still manage to have Uncharted level facial animations, then that's beyond impressive. I think the heavy emphasis on cinema makes it wholly unimpressive. If you can't live up to the scale of the project you've got going, it's time to scale back down. I wouldn't want to play a next-next-gen game on PS4 that has low-res settings for tech features that are too advanced because they need a generation of a hardware leap to work properly. BioWare tried to grow since ME1 but they kinda hit a wall with ME3 in terms of how they probably had the same budget, but started scaling down things to get more stuff in. They need to stop trying to squeeze in so much and try to make a more focused and perhaps shorter experience like ME1 again where all face animations are at least polished. Regardless of whether it's unrealistic to expect Uncharted 4 animations in a fully choice-driven RPG with hundreds of cinematic scenes, this just doesn't look good enough:

While I'm definitely in the "cautiously hopeful" camp for ME:A, I can understand the criticism of some of the facial animations we've seen. Some people have, in my opinion, taken those criticisms too far, but by and large I'm more than ok with the idea of "complain 'cause it might make it better" even if you plan on playing the game (and enjoying it!) anyway. Sara's face in particular had very...unrealistic expressions in various videos. Some of the still shots of her look nice, but just like Sheploo, a decent looking face can be ruined by poor animations. ME3 was the worst of the lot, as far as I'm concerned, and DA:I was a massive improvement even if it, too could have been better. As long as we get facial animations on par with DA:I (and hopefully better, since Inquisition still was subpar) I'll be happy enough if the rest of the game is strong. DA:I wasn't an improvement. The faces looked better and at times they animated right but for a lot of scenes they didn't express the fitting emotions, like someone will yell in an angry voice but have a calm and smiling face. It's as if the overall quality has dropped because improved face graphics and movable parts become harder to control as an animator. Compared to Mass Effect 3, DA:I's overall facial animations were better. Just compare Sera's facial animations in most circumstances to Anderson or Ashley's wooden faced plastic doll thing. Please note, I never said DA:I's facial animations were great. But, by and large, with obvious exceptions, they were adequate. I don't necessarily need perfection or even very good facial animations to enjoy a game. I just want them to be at least adequate, and the better they are, the happier I'll be.

Most of the critics seems to be around unpolished things, bugs and glitches which are of course bad but it's something fixable with patches and updates. So I'm not worried about that if it needs to be I'll just wait for a couple of patches before gaming. So far I have heard only positive things about the characters, the combat and the exploration which is something they can't fix as they are core game mechanics. All in all the overall impression I got from reviews was that the game needed extra time (two or three months), for polishing and bug-fixing. While I'm positive about the game I'm considering postponing my gameplay for a more polished experience later on. We shall see.

From ME1 and DA:O to now. Even since they've gone to a new game engine. Their animation team had to recreate them, and it seems they did with the same flaws as on the old engine. I wish they'd steal the Bungie animators, they're some of my favorite in the industry.

An insult to mass effect?? Actually many previewers are saying it totally feels like mass effect. But even if they didnt, the game isnt out yet, how can you even say something like that with a straight face?
Also remember the responsability on the shoulders of the previewers. Even if they loved what they played (which is still subjective since they only played a couple hours of a huge game) they cant really come out and say it cause then they will be held accountable for hyping a game that many people might dislike when it comes out and everybody will say Bioware bought them.
I see these previews as a way of seeing more content of MEA, not as an indicator of the quality of the game. Hence, the lets stay positive about it and wait till its out to actually form an opinion. Either way, im still gonna play the heck out of it and im sure i'll enjoy it for the most part. The best part of mass effect to me has always been characters and interactions with them, and so far it seems the game got that covered. And banter seems to have been insanely upped for andromeda. One of the previewers said that the main characters, each, have as much lines as sheppard himself in ME3. That sounds impressive to me.

Because some people WANT the game to be bad so they simply only mention the parts on the previews that prove their hypothesis to be true and "forget" the ones that disprove said hypothesis, which in this case corresponds to most of what the media said about the game on yesterday previews. I saw this same behaviour a few times in the academic community of geology on my university...Trully sad.

People are entitled to be both optimistic and cynical. At this stage, these reactions say more about their world view as individuals than about the game itself, in my opinion.
The other thing to bear in mind is that game media were royally criticized at the time of the ME3 launch for being so sucky and happy about the game '50 perfect scores' etc.
Gamer sites have had a 're-adjustment' to the ratings creep of past years, so most if not all the media outlets will be keenly cautious about calling out a 'perfect experience' on only 3 hours of a buggy build.

I agree, I think there are people that are only seeing what they want to in these previews. The only preview that I didn't fully get was the one from Polygon, for they seemed to be focused more on comparing the game to the prior ones instead of just looking at what is being offered.

Go get help and stop boring fans with your mental issues! Translation: "AAAAAGGGHH HOW WILL I BE ABLE TO LIKE SOMETHING IF EVEN A SINGLE PERSON EXPRESSES NEGATIVE OPINIONS ABOUT THE THING I LIKE?!?" This is a discussion forum, not an echo chamber. While i agree with the sentiment in this post, there does seem to be a fairly vocal set of posters on here who are calling the game utter rubbish without even seeing the finished product. I can certainly understand someone disliking what they've seen so far, even if I may not agree with them entirely. However, some people are making a (seemingly) absolute decision about the game without all of the facts. Admittedly, there are surely people who are on the opposite end, claiming this will be the best game ever (or whatever), so the same could be said for them. I just can't, personally, understand overtly hostile negativity about a product we haven't even seen more than a snippet of. Skepticism, cynicism, yes. Overt, almost diehard negativity is just a bit OTT, in my opinion, however. That being said, if you (in the general sense, not you specifically) feel like you won't like the game, that's your opinion and won't affect mine. I just would rather see more reasoned discussion, instead of outright toxic rhetoric, from either side.

I don't want to insult anyone. But, all you people who comment on this board day after day, and boast your anti-Bioware shit, have GOT PROBLEMS! Ahh, the stock response for those who feel that their unwarranted bile has merit. Always fun when that one pops up, especially since they're the ones turning every thread into the same boring cynical "echo chamber".
