weak villain introduction though? fuck that's the biggest concern that I have. If it's anywhere near as catastrophically weak and stupid as Corypheus, I'm going to literally cry. Regardless of what one might think of Corypheus himself, I thought the actual introduction during the Haven assault was really well done.

The problem I had with Cory is as you've mentioned above, but also because you pretty much defeat him at every turn.Exactly. Even his assault at Haven becomes a victory when you get Skyhold and you only lose a handful of disposable almost place-holder-esque people. We know Archon won't kill anyone of our squadmates but he could still hurt our progress, but this is where the "it's more lighthearted" statement bothers me -- I think it'll play into how Ryder will not really stumble enough. I hope I'm wrong though, I'm just not expecting it, which I think is my main source of lukewarmness towards the release-hype. Well there is that scene in the first cinematic trailer where Ryder has been captured by the Archon.

Wait, are you serious? You think someone on BSN hasn't made up his mind yet? People here decided whether this game good or bad years ago. FTFY.

Wait, are you serious? You think someone on BSN hasn't made up his mind yet? People here decided whether this game good or bad months ago. Well, I for one have not made up my mind... nor will I until after release. I'm anticipating it being a good game; but I am far from having made up my mind about that yet.

I've already decided I'm going to buy the game, even if the reviews are mixed, or (heaven forbid) really really bad. It's because I'm a big Mass Effect fan. Or, at least, I was. I'm in the same boat. I'm such a huge fan of the original trilogy that I'd buy Andromeda even if all the reviews were saying it was a steaming pile of varren dung. It's just a question of whether to preorder or buy discounted from the bargain bin. Eh, I tend to throw intelligent consumerism out the window when it comes to certain things. There are just some games that I have to judge for myself. People say "wait for reviews", and for the most part, I agree, but every once in a while I like to be the one doing the review. I did that for Metal Gear Solid V and Resident Evil VII. Even if everyone had hated those games, I would've bought them myself, because those series are very important to me. I don't particularly care how Mass Effect reviews. It's one of those games that I want to get when it comes out, and be able to form a coherent opinion on it without everyone else's input. I think I'm pretty alright at doing that, for the most part. Granted, I have some unpopular opinions, but they're still mine.

Regardless of what one might think of Corypheus himself, I thought the actual introduction during the Haven assault was really well done. I can't help but feel one of the problems with Corypheus is you never actually got to see what he's doing. I feel after the big reveal at moments they should've cut away to Corypheus to see him interacting. They did it with ME1 with Saren and in DAO with Loghain. I think it actually makes you think more about your villian and get much more invested in them. I thought some of the themes with Corypheus were really good like how he has no faith in his Old Gods that he used to worship fervently. He's not taking over the world just cus he wants power, he's doing in because it shakes him to the core that there was no maker in the Golden city and that it was rotten (so he says). His wholebelief system was shaken so he's filling it in by making himself a god. But you never get enough time to build on it with hims. Just a few lines that suggest it

Wait, are you serious? You think someone on BSN hasn't made up his mind yet? People here decided whether this game good or bad years ago. FTFY. That's impossible given how the first real glimpse of the game was late this year. By E3 back in june we still had no idea what this game would actually look like or what tone or direction it would go aside from the known details about going to another galaxy. I was the first one to be on board with abandoning Shepard and the trilogy. I didn't blink an eye saying goodbye to that; I was ready. It's only since the TGA trailer and the continuing showcase of bland gameplay footage and bad animations + genericness of tone and atmosphere that I've started to severely lower expectations. Of course, I've kept joking about BioWare in all the time in between because ME3 happened but this game was always the game to prove that there might be more juice left in them and that ME3 was just a big mistake because they only had 1.5 years to make it and wrap up a story they hadn't planned out properly in the beginning.

I couldn't stand the Game Informer video and article on their impressions of the game. I did enjoy Greg Miller and Alanah Pearce's though!

The people who are complaining about facial animation seem to bring up Horizon Zero Dawn and Uncharted a lot in their comparison, but guys... 1st:Those games have preset models on preset characters that we cannot customize the faces of, and have limited armor options to boot. I have little doubt that the monstrosities we will be creating in the CC will interfere a LOT with the facial animations. Only so much to be done there. It links also to the hairstyle issue where there was a link to a gif of Lara Croft in the new set of TR games. I hope you realize just how much work that one... ONE hairstyle took to make it even SEMI-realistic (and some systems couldn't even handle it, leading them to add the option to turn the dynamic ponytail off). 2nd:Sheer length. Uncharted and Horizon are narrative based games, yes, but Nathan Drake spends far less of his time talking to people and giving close-ups than just running or shooting. Horizon is slated to be around 30-50 hours for a completionist, but it still can't match the probable 100+ hours of Andromeda, or even Inquisition before it. Both also have far less character interaction than Bioware fans are used to indulging in, and thus it is far easier to polish every aspect of those shorter games' facial animations to make them all purty. 3rd:Lack of motion capture. Tying into the length issue, motion capture is still WAY too expensive for the amount of conversations and characters that Bioware usually puts into its games, facially at least. The number of rigs you have to compensate for is incredible even for the shorter games, and it can't be applied to customizable characters anyway. This is not to say Bioware's games can't be improved in this regard: they most certainly can. And they're going to have to up their game in the near future to survive comparisons like I've been hearing to other game franchises. But I'm giving them some wiggle-room here because they genuinely have been improving with every game they've released, and no animation system is perfect especially dealing with a pc whose face and armor can be so drastically different. Experience the game before you raise your pitchforks, at least. Excuses excuses excuses. Either they play hard or pack their bags and leave because almost every developer is doing motion capture and now there should be NO excuses.
