I've watched the video a couples of times. I'm going to like taking PeeBee on missions. I like her. I have confidence that Bioware will workout/fix most of the kinks with the day 1 patch on he 16th of March.

Transformers? Ouch. I'd say more like... Star Trek to Star Wars. At least from what I've heard about Star Trek. A lot of the universe stuff took a backseat to action packed encounters and badassery, but it was still a pretty solid experience, and a thrilling adventure. Mass Effect 3, on the other hand... Other than the ending and fetch quests and the story inconsistancies and retcons, plus some stream lining, i didnt see that much problem in the game tbh. Had the best combat in the series bar none. I liked Tuchanka and Rannoch arcs and the leviathan dlc. Javik was a great troll character. That's like... a lot of things, haha.

Oh hey look, more people hating everything they saw. What did you like about it? I already said at the end of my post that I enjoyed the graphics (aesthetics and actual fidelity) and that I enjoyed the combat despite how bad the player was. I also think I'll enjoy the characters once I get to know them more.

Damn it, Peebee... ...where'd you suddenly get that Avenger from? Looks like the lazy editing is back! I don't know, but PeeBee looks really pretty in this shot..

I take "pre-release build" comments with a grain of salt, as it's mostly an effective handwave, as opposed to legitimate reassurance. That being said, if it is the same older build that they've been showing off, it is possible certain aspects have improved. Not all of them, mind you, but some. There's also a Day 1 patch, so any minor details journalists had with the game will be addressed by Bioware now. Even though Andromeda has gone gold, there's no deadline for patches. They can fix a lot of these little nagging issues over time. Maybe it's just blind optimism on my part. I think there's room for optimism. We just can't expect them to change everything now. Some stuff is going to be less than spectacular. Hopefully most of those things are fixable down the line.

"pre-release footage" watermark is almost parodical when the game is coming out in 3 weeks.

My favorite thing about the combat in ME3 was double tapping A when sprinting into cover, so you could do a 70's action cop butt slide.
It was super amusing every single time.

"pre-release footage" watermark is almost parodical when the game is coming out in 3 weeks. I assumed it meant that it was the same unfinished build of the game they've been showing everyone recently. We can probably expect at least some improvements. Though, mostly in the animation department. Anything else will be relegated to the patch, I imagine. Anything after that will just have to come up after everyone's played the game. Inquisition got a lot of pretty good updates due to fan feedback.

It seems like AAA games are getting by with brand equity alone anymore, but I'm lying to myself if watching this (albeit somewhat underwhelming) vid doesn't have me jacked for 3/21

I dont think any of them are 9/10 games to be honest. ME1 gets the highest with 88 score from me, but what makes it s miss its mark is the half finished planet exloration shenanigans and awful, clunky combat. The thing is we never really got the best of both worlds, the game that had great addictive gameplay, environments, and story and characters. All the games are missing something of these. Thus its this disjointed mess of a trilogy.

"pre-release footage" watermark is almost parodical when the game is coming out in 3 weeks. Does anyone know when the video was actually recorded? Maybe they've had more time to polish it than we think?

And it still is. Makes me wanna play Multiplayer again. The little vault-over-cover roll we've seen Ryder do in ME:A looks cool too. In fact, it's strange. The facial animations and all cutscene-y stuff looks like something they had to rush out the door because they haven't had the time to really work properly on it (or maybe it's the new tech that makes it impossible to make so much of it in high quality across an entire game) but every animation dedicated to movement and gameplay, aside from the fact that it still looks like it was recorded by stuntment with all their exaggerated arm movements, it looks pretty tight. I'm a big fan of this:

PB comes off as kinda generic and much less interesting compared to say, Jack or Thane, or really anyone else revealed for ME:A. She could surprise me/us on that front. But why showcase your 'generic' character first? imo...
Also I keep having to remind myself this will be more casual in nature without the stakes of the Reapers. I just hope I can emotionally invest and care about what's going on this time.

I'm a big fan of this: This little side step? I'm a sucker for details. You know what's bothering me in the full video? That door in the begining cutscene... the way it closes. Urck! It looks bad and I immediately notice it and make it bother me for not being better animated. Another thing is that as in every trailer ever of this game, whenever a character is supposed to move their lips as they're talking they cut away from their face so you can't see the bad animation. I'm almost sure BioWare specifically asked Destin to do this when editing.

I'm a big fan of this: Really glad you pointed out the body movement. I was really excited when I saw that little stagger, personally. Faces are just a lot harder, though. There are so many little muscles in there. Not to mention you can't just make an "uphill animation" for cutscenes. They have to be captured or animated separately, so the work that goes into animating the gameplay is different from what goes into the cutscenes.

The guy from IGN really screwed this gameplay video. If it was the BW guys playing it I think it would be more well received by the fans. Well, he's a games journalist... expecting that he actually can, you know, play games is... well, I'm sure it's some "ist" or "ism". It's pretty sad to see games journalists be so bad at playing games these days.
