Has there been a response as to what it is that is strapped to Ryder's upper right leg? A piece of a poorly designed armor that looks like it was made for DOOM.

"pre-release footage" watermark is almost parodical when the game is coming out in 3 weeks. Hey its better than the For Honor beta a week before release. Really a beta when the game has gone gold, great!

I feel like the only one who loves Inquistion these days. My lasting impression is as ever lukewarm but if you go to the Dragon Age boards you'll see a rambly post from me when I finished it with Trespasser back in November or earlier gushing over how much I enjoyed it. If you aren't playing it for the first time, play on casual and know what bland content to skip you'll have a good time. I understand some people just like it for whatever reason too, but I always wonder if guys like you have played a lot of games in genera, no offense meant. As someone who's been wild about video games since I was 6 or 8 back as far as 2000 I just can't seem to get what's supposed to be extraordinary about DA:I.

Yes, if you want to nitpick. But i can nitpick ME2 and ME1 also. I dont think any of them are 9/10 games to be honest. ME1 gets the highest with 88 score from me, but what makes it s miss its mark is the half finished planet exloration shenanigans and awful, clunky combat. B-But... But... that's like... the whole game! A decent game if you dont dig too deep, and have the extended cut, and are a reasonable person and not some raging super nerd. I mean lets be honest, even witht he endings its not a betrayal like say FF 13(which killed my intrest in the franchise, as a former fan), or worse yet, Metal Gear Survive. Or the CD-i zelda games, if youre a zelda fan, talk about betrayal... I mean not forgiving por forgetting the endings even after its been 5 years and constantly raging about them... thats just ridiculous imho. I get that Casey and Mac really fucked up, i get it. But it shouldnt be your whole damn life. Its a game.

Ah, it depends. You could also just be a guy who understands dramaturgy and immediately notices a fundamental flaw in one of the moments that's supposed to drive home the narrative. My english teacher would've given it fail-grades.

I agree with you. It seems like AAA games are getting by with brand equity alone anymore, but I'm lying to myself if watching this (albeit somewhat underwhelming) vid doesn't have me jacked for 3/21 Urrrgh, why doesn't it do that for me...! Believe me, I want to fucking hype this game so much, it's why I'm a pissy little whiner right now. Like a cutesy little asshole I'm going to try not to speak for you, or anyone besides myself, but lately I've been warming up a bit to the game, and I was wondering if maybe I've been putting ME1 and 2 on too much of a pedestal. They both really do have parts that drag on forever, and some truly annoying aspects to them. Like, they seem like little things now, and we joke about them, but back in the day they were frustrating! Reused dialogue, quiet empty buildings, cutting SFX, the Mako, empty planets, clunky movement, floaty sprinting, trash cover system, unfair abilities, stupid dialogue, retcons, cringey mass appeal aspects, over reliance on sex appeal, popping textures, bland side missions, long load times, abysmal map design, etc... The list really goes on forever. I've been revisiting a lot of stuff from ME1 and 2, and I've realized that they weren't perfect either. Some stuff in Andromeda is worrying. Some stuff looks tedious. Some stuff will inevitably be pretty bland. But maybe the game can still be good. I dunno. I reserve my right to be skeptical about anything at any point in time, but I also think it's important to allow yourself to enjoy little details every once in awhile. As many blatantly moronic oversights as there were in ME1, it had a lot of little details that mattered. A lot of care. A lot of passion. There was a time when ME1 would've looked like a broken mess of a game, but we all ended up loving it anyway. I'm trying to give Andromeda more of a chance.

Funny thing is I've had the moment of being skeptical but then warming up before with this game. But then it's kinda been slipping and this was yet another slip.
ME1 and 2 is about a "more than sum of its parts" kinda thing. The lasting impression is too favorable to take them off their pedestals. I actually didn't give two shits about ME1 the first time I played it which was overdue. I just wanted to play ME2. I used to only be interested in action/adventure titles like James Bond Everything or Nothing on PS2, Jak 2, then InFamous and then Gears and Halo, Uncharted etc. but then ME2 put Mass Effect on my radar after I had recommended my friend ME1 without playing it myself. I thought the dialogue was cheesy and the story felt crudely presented compared to how good my kinds of games were but slowly I grew to love the dialogue wheel and traversing the Citadel was something, despite how primitive it could feel, was something I knew grabbed me on some level.
ME2 then blew me away. It slowly crescendoed and before I knew it I had been through the Suicide Mission and immediately when I thought back on the experience I was just blown away by how much I liked it. I was a huge Zelda-nerd and to me Ocarina of Time had been my favorite game of all time since forever but ME2 finally replaced my favorite franchise with another favorite franchise and it's because of ME1 and 2. ME3 had me in disbelief over how unambitious it was in a certain sense. I could talk at length about this in another thread someday.

Well, I hope it ends up just being a slip. I understand where you're coming from. I mean, it's not like being cynical about a series you liked is fun. But if we're lucky, we'll have all worried for nothing.

I think we need to step back and realize that even if ME:A is a perfect 100/100, it could still be a thrill for a lot of us for a long time.

I can look back on things I liked, and still think, "Yeah, but that was pretty shit though, lol". Doesn't mean it controls my life. What EC did was make the trilogy replayable. I felt like it was over for a while after I finished the game March 12th (which I can see in my save-logs lol). I had been looking forward to replaying ME1 2 and 3 again but I just didn't want to do that after ME3 was over in that way. It was totally ruined for me. But EC gave me a sense of how my choices were meaningful to reach the ending and in what lasting impact they had on the galaxy along with the final choice so the "choices matter" part was somewhat justified with EC. It just didn't erase the fundamental problem that is the complete thematic and denoument incoherence to the story that was present, but it made it possible to ignore the final scene a bit more and think more of the ending as a result and aftermath of the story with cause and effect.

I actually only got to beat ME3 once. My Xbox broke shortly after ME3 was released. I ended up getting a PlayStation for Christmas that year, and never really looked at Mass Effect again.

Everyone here is missing the point. I don't think you don't understand...
I want to Kill PB. I don't want to yell at her for her shenanigans, I want to watch her eyes pop as I drop the lever on the airlock. That should be a thing and it isn't. You're making fundamental decisions for me and I don't like it. I don't want a robot in my brain, I don't want this person on my ship. I'm a damn pathfinder I should be able to run **** how I want to run it not have everything decided for me.
P.S. I am a completionist and if I have to scan every rock to get the best armor, weapons, tempest, nomad, tech, biotics, etc. then I will do it... but I don't want to... scanning. Is. Boring. Don't make me do it and hide behind 'you didn't Have to', because I damn well did if I wanted to sleep well at night.

It was basically done in Mark of The Assassin only better.
The In Wicked Eyes and Hearts or Minds or whatever quest was not well made IMO. Only thing I liked about it was getting to dance with who was most interested in me and hearing people's comments about being at the ball.
I heard you can actually catch the killer without a combat encounter but the Court Approval system is a POS. Unless you're human it'll randomly go down during cutscenes and having a variable of 0-100 need to be at 100 specifically or whatever I needed to do is stupid. I got it to 99 on 3 playthroughs. It's the single trophy I lack to achieve platinum for the game and it's stupidly stupid.
Also the "stealth-game" part of the quest reminded me of the Citadel DLC in a bad way. I'm normally a fan of mini-games and stuff but I think it's just the design is bad. Same with Citadel DLC when distracting guards. Something about it just feels super low-effort and boring in the way it's executed. "Go here, press a button, listen to scripted dialogue"
