I'm trying to figure out what people here on the board are most worried or concerned about with this game. It sure seems that a lot of us here are pretty skeptical about it. Especially after this new PeeBee video. Myself, I was super excited before and it's diminished somewhat. Hoping to get it back up again. So, is it the combat, the characters, the polish, the story or something else? I'm trying to see if everyone is worried about the same thing or everyone has different reasons. My personal worry is just that I might not care about what's going on since the stakes (are seemingly) lower here compared to the trilogy's stakes. Also I'm gonna miss the 'pause' button from the trilogy because I liked issuing more direct orders to squadmates. But if you are just excited and not worried, let us know! What say you? You can pick up to 4 choices. Being excited and worried also works here. I guess I'm more in that camp. EDIT: Remade poll w/ more choices, pls re-vote if you haven't. I'm not changing it again. P.S. I think this is true for all of us who have any concerns. We do only because we care. We love Mass Effect. We want it to be the best possible Mass Effect.

Overall, I'm excited for more adventures in the Mass Effect universe. In the poll I picked story, characters, and combat as areas of concern though. We don't know very much about the story yet, but having the Archon announce himself with 'surrender or burn' in that trailer was really dispiriting. I'm also not that happy about leaving behind the Milky Way even if I understand the reasons why.
I know this was covered extensively in a recent thread, but telling me right off the bat that no characters are going to die seems like a lame play. ME1 was exciting because it gave you those life and death decisions. Wrex, Ashley, Kaidan... those were pretty big stakes and bold moves for a new game in a new IP in a genre that usually sold way less than more traditional RPG (Fantasy RPGs still being king back then, and I guess still the case since Skyrim/Witcher 3 are the heavy hitters saleswise right now).
The character that concerns me most is PeeBee, I've never been a huge fan of the asari or quirky sidekicks and she's both. She also carries on the tradition of dumb costume design for companions and breathing masks, two changes ME2 brought from ME1 that I've never really warmed to, barring some miraculous revelations in her story she's probably going to spend the entire game in that escape pod unless there is some way to completely remove her from the team. The combat looks good in some ways, worse in others. The squad AI looks useless. Enemy HP looks a bit bloated (I'm always wary when I see weapons with damage numbers like 500 or whatever it was in that video). I'm not happy about the tactical wheel, time dilation, and squad powers getting removed.
I know this reads as negative, but you asked for my concerns. I'm still excited to revisit the Mass Effect universe and I have the game preordered. I'm open to changing my mind on all of these things, even Peebee, once 3/21 rolls around.

I'm just worried that they'll be a lot of bad side quests like in DA:I. I can't help myself and always do completionist playthroughs. If there's quests that break or are boring I'm gona have a bad time.

Just excited tbh. I do worry about certain romance endings since BW keeps breaking my heart, but nothing else really.

The gay character being an irrelevant cliche. Also my fear, I felt that way about Steve. At least they tried I guess. Re-did poll one last time to hide choices until made. No more re-do's and I apologize. Can't edit polls.

I'm excited but the lack of polish in terms of bugs and facial animations is what worries me. When it comes to the facial animations, to be frank, the entire series has always had this, so I'm not gonna lose sleep over it. The bugs on the other hand is giving me flashbacks of DA:I at launch. I like DA:I, but I ran into a lot of bad bugs during my first playthrough.

Good idea for a thread. Personally for me, my worries are polish/bugs because janky animations and lip sync can be rather jarring, and immersion breaking. I'm hardly expecting Naughty Dog levels of perfection when it comes to animations and facial expressions though (I wish). Though BioWare has vowed to smoothen out the animations for the retail version of the game. Good thing too, lately nearly every close up of Scott/Sara has become a mini meme (blowup doll Scott for example). And secondly; exploration and questing. DA:3 was an alright game in my book (a solid 70/100) but it was SO BORING at times. Party/War council conversations, critical path quests, romances, loyalty quests, and Dragon Battles were great. But well... you've likely heard of all the games Flaws 1000 times over by now, so let's just cut to the chase. ME:A needs to do a good job of filling it's semi-open world maps with fun and relevant sidequests, interesting characters, and places that I actually want to explore. I need to feel like I have a reason to be on this planet, and I need to be having enough fun to actually want to be on this planet. Thankfully BioWare has also claimed to have rectified these issues (even taking pointers from the Witcher:3). And most of the News Articles I read the other day seem to agree. Sorry for the wall of text.

So far I'm really excited but at the sametime I'm a little worried about major bugs still being in the game when launch day falls.

I would be chatting with a DA:3 character, then they'd suddenly read their next sentence Uber fast. It would take reloads or a hard restart just to hear that sentence. Not to mention the stability. Hopefully ME:A is more solid on release than DA:3.

I havent seen much of the story or dialogue, so that might be bad says the cynical troll in my brains.
Theres also the bugs and the facial issues, but in 40 h plus game, i can forgive the latter if it stays on minimum, like in previous games, where it was okay, not amazing, but did its job.

Maybe I'm lucky? but nothing bugs me more than a quest that won't go away (TW3 "tamerian valuables" I'm looking at you >.>).

The story and characters. I've played many a game with terrible combat, terrible gameplay and myriad bugs and it didn't matter because the story and characters were so engrossing. I don't have a particular cause to worry yet, but that's the thing I'm concerned most about just given it's importance. A close second is, after DA:I, the sidequests and if they'll be meaningless MMO fodder, but a few sources have assuaged that somewhat.

That exploration and non-combat gameplay will be horrendous. Peebee's loyalty mission didn't look fun at all, I can't remember a mission from the trilogy that looked half as annoying as that did.
