It will be a good game. Just how good, remains to be seen of course. However, they seem to have been melding mass effect and kingdoms of amalur for the gameplay and been inspired by witcher 3 for the quests. So I do have high hopes (not expectations, mind! Forever a sceptic ).

The only criticism I see is the ridiculous assumption that a Fem Ryder, a fictional character, in a game, not real....is ugly (this argument baffles me) and AI (which looks the same as prev ME games, just better).
The only real concern for me, after watching IGN's video, is the hand-holding by SAM. Hope to god it was purposely put in just to show that aspect of SAM, for that one mission.
I cant wait for this game, been waiting years! getting to know the crew and the new story that unfolds. I think its going to be epic.

The question in the thread title is the direct opposite of the question in your poll. I hope people read the body of your post first before they vote, instead of "Is he the only one? I NEED TO VOTE! I NEED TO CLICK! I NEED TO ANSWER! ...I NEED!" Anyway, my answers are: no and yes, respectively.

They said it's because that mission introduced new mechanics that needed explaining, so I imagine it won't be throughout the game. Anyway I think the game will be good, granted I was disappointed with DA:I but that sentiment may have been exaggerated due to Witcher 3 being released a year later. I've always preferred the Mass effect series anyway so I have no doubts I would enjoy this even if it disappoints other people.

I dont know op. I dont know.
Despite that i want to feel positive, ive got this lingering bad feeling i cant get rid off. Like a shadow hanging over me.
I mean theyve had 5 years to complete this game, even an extension of 3 months to their originally announced release of holiday 2016, and it seems like a clusterfuck of bad marketing, facial animations issues, cancelling the mp beta and hurrying to get the bugs fixed right on when its coming out.
If i were you id wait for the reviews, trusted reviews. Im not pre ordering this game this time.

I honestly have a few concerns, but then I think it should be expected, and I generally do have a few for any game I am interested in getting. I was concerned about Dishonored 2, and turns out they were valid, but I still think that game is fantastic and worth the wait. I think its good to be critical of aspects you think might be troublesome and/or poor, but for the most part, everything looks really, really promising. I think it'll not only be a solid game, but a surprising one. I'm going to be very interested in what reviews have to say. Good game reviews are really hard to come by IMO. Look at Horizon Zero Dawn. Any review that doesn't give it 10/10 or shower it with praise gets criticized and labelled "clickbait". It highlights a large immaturity amongst the portion of gamers who can't accept any and all criticisms of games they like or favor. I'd be more likely to read a review that has criticisms than one that just showers every aspect of MEA with praise. Some people need to get it into their heads that you can be critical of a game but still like it, even love it. I've recently started Witcher 3 at a friend's since I don't have the game myself. I think I've sunk 10 hours so far, just to see what its all about. I have my problems with it, but for the most part, as an open world game, it excels where Horizon Zero Dawn fails, personally. Stuffing the open world with stuff to do for the sake of it doesn't make the open world engaging or compelling IMO. Withcer 3 so far seems to have succeeded where a lot of open world games failed. God did I go on a bit of a tangent. But yeah, I think MEA will be good

It will come down to side quests, setting and characters. Combat seems to have more visual flair, options and mobility, but gunplay, hit reactions and AI are heavily behind. Don't really expect much from the main story, honestly.
Above average game at least, BW has never done anything less, even with DA II.

I'm only concerned about any major bugs that might pop up. An example would be the Inquisition voice switch bug if you changed the default for your character and created a custom Hawke. Gawd that was irritating. I had to stop that playthrough cold as a result.

i wonder how many hours it'll take to do a complete run in SP. my guess: 40 hours for missions/dlc's. + 30 hours mining and crafting shit...(i.e.hmm, which fade touch should i use, damn, i need 35 more arbor blessings ). and 20 hours mindlessly driving around in the Nomad. hours in MP remain a mystery. can't even attempt an uneducated guess. but putting aside cynicism, i will play this game, a lot.

God did I go on a bit of a tangent. But yeah, I think MEA will be good You make a lot of great points. It's why I don't generally bother with reviews from any gaming media site. Rarely are the reviews ever objective or actually useful. Horizon Zero Dawn is just one example out of many games that received way too much hype and praise only to fall short. Anybody remember Evolve? That game was E3's Best of Show in 2014 and it tanked upon release. It has now since gone F2P and Turtle Rock no longer supports it due to even the F2P model failing. Yet, the media would have you believe that game was innovative and going to change the FPS genre. I judge games for myself, not based off the opinions of "experts" or anyone else. Part of the reason The Witcher 3 works, in my opinion, is because all of the quests in that game are tied to storytelling. There is a reason and a purpose to go to most locations in that game. That's incredibly unusual for most open world games, as they generally are just littered with collectibles and other worthless content. The thing many open world games fail to realize, Horizon Zero Dawn included, is that the open world environment is also a character that must tell a story. If you just litter that world with fluff but it doesn't actually serve any real purpose to further that experience, it comes across as static, lifeless, and tedious. DAI also suffered that issue of poorly-used environments. The world building was absolutely stellar and many of the locations are still absolutely breath-taking. The problem is they just weren't used very well. I'm hoping BioWare has learned from that experience and that much of what we explore in MEA will have value and will be worth our time.

Case in point? Just look at the reviews for Zelda Breath of the Wild. I'd be interested how many reviewers gave their rating based on their initial, gut instinct, first impression, instead of objectively looking deeper at the game. I agree. I am really tired of The Witcher 3 constantly being used in arguments, at least, ones that are practically just no other game will compare but, even I have to give praise where it is due, and TW3 does do a fantastic job in that regard. I am hoping MEA skews how Witcher handles open world and quests other DA:I. I have my problems with the game, particularly characters and storytelling, but as a game, it ticks all the boxes as far as gameplay go. A game critic I would personally recommend is Tevis Thompson. His reviews and criticisms of games are some of the best I've seen in regards to gaming criticism and reviews. He also wrote a really good essay on Gaming Criticism in general, a lot of my points I made I was able to draw from his essay on gaming journalism.

His reviews and criticisms of games are some of the best I've seen in regards to gaming criticism and reviews. He also wrote a really good essay on Gaming Criticism in general, a lot of my points I made I was able to draw from his essay on gaming journalism. I'll admit I'm looking forward to Breath of the Wild. However, merely having the title "Legend of Zelda" in it will already give it over-inflated scores. Skyward Sword, in my opinion, is one of the worst main series Zelda games ever made. Yet, some of the biggest gaming media sites gave it a perfect score for no legitimate reason other than because it's a Zelda game. I'm under the impression Breath of the Wild is going to be better than Skyward Sword. But, I'm also convinced the reviews will be just as worthless as they focus more on the legacy of the franchise rather than the quality of the game. The Witcher 3 isn't the perfect RPG. It definitely has problems of its own. That being said, I would argue it's one of the best RPGs made in a very long time. I may be a little biased considering I've been playing CDPR games since TW1 in 2007. But, TW3 legitimately did something no other RPG has been able to do: effectively combine choice-driven storytelling with a dynamic, living open world. Honestly, just for that fact alone, I hope other RPGs learn from that just so the entire genre improves as a result. Ah, I see. I may have to consider looking him up, but I generally just fall back on my own opinions. I certainly don't mind hearing other perspectives to try and give me a more well-rounded impression of a game. But, there are so few quality critics out there. Ultimately, the only opinion you can truly rely on is your own.

I think it's going to be a good game.
However, my expectations for Bioware has always been for something incredible/great (despite the last couple games). It's the disappointment of seeing films like Good Dinosaur and Cars from Pixar. They are not bad films per se but you expect much more based on their past.
I want to love this game as much as I enjoyed Mass Effect 2 and Witcher 3. I want it to drum up the same excitement. However from what I've seen so far, I haven't seen anything that has clicked for me as well as those games.

Personally I'm expecting to enjoy the game as much as I did the original ME trilogy and DA games. I loved playing them. But that doesn't mean there were things I didn't like.
DA:I, I enjoyed the game and played multiple times, but it didn't live up to my expectations from what we had been shown previously (like the Crestwood mission and the possible results of your decision shown well before release was nothing like the mission when the game was released).
If the gameplay shown so far isn't giving me any concerns, and if the characters are as good as I expect from BioWare then I'm going to enjoy playing this game multiple times.

If you're a fan of bioware games, it'll probably be a fun game. I've gotten several hundred hours out of every single bioware game I've played, with only one not played being Jade Empire, well, I tried, but it didn't grab me unlike kotor, NWN, or BG.
My only real concern right now is just how much animation being vintage bioware stuff will bother me, but will see about that when actually playing the game. Even after dumping at least 400 hours into DA:I and clearly having fun with the game, I still notice the bad cases quite easily whenever they happen.

Jade Empire starts off pretty slow, but I promise you the game does get better! One of the things I always liked about that game is how action-oriented and fun the combat is. One of the best designed BioWare games in terms of combat. I'd love to see a Jade Empire 2 on Frostbite 3! Maybe someday... Other than some wonky facial animations, I actually think the rest of the animation work is pretty spot on. I liked how Sara was traversing various inclines and obstacles in the 17 minute video. From just various different speeds of walking and running to jumping, climbing ledges, or even bracing for a fall, BioWare has quite a few animations all working in unison.

Do i think the game will be good yes.
From what i've seen and read the combat looks fast and fun letting players pick from all skill trees or just keeping to one is up to the player and not forced which is nice.
The companions i am fine with six ME2 had to many imo both ME1 and base game ME3 had six i think its a good balance.
Will the game have bugs, animation issues and some poor AI yes there in all games and these issues did not take away from how great the triogy was for me.
To rap this up some people on here moan, complain and nitpick everything followed up by witcher 3 did it better MEA will not be perfect even the great skyrim and witcher 3 had issues you will enjoy this game more if you don't nitpick every little thing and compare it to the witcher 3.
