Hasn't the Mass Effect series or for that matter Bioware games in general always been kind of corny? What's wrong with corny humor anyway so long as it's done well?

It doesn't, and the trilogy also didn't.

Corny and/or camp succeeds or fails based on how self-aware the medium presenting it is, usually. ME has definitely tried to use it here or there. ME3's Citadel DLC was full of it, and embraced it, so it still ended up being charming.
The Peebee mission seemed on the bad side of camp. I'm hoping that's more to do with all the cut context to avoid spoilers.

Well, according to Mac Walters, it's supposed to be a more youthful and positive story, but there also are high stakes involved. That will be accomplished - according to him - by putting the narrative focus on the characters. That CAN work... then again, the team also aimed to make the story and world very approachable for new fans. All that taken together requires quite a bit of writing prowess to pull of convincingly.
Let's just say: After seeing the PeeBee mission, I'm not convinced...

Well I wasn't referring to the PB mission at all, just in general. You don't really have any other relevant examples for this topic aside from the footage from Peebee's mission. Update, just watched the whole thing. Honestly didn't seem that corny to me. I didn't find PB's commentary annoying at all. My biggest complaint would be that it seemed kind of linear compared to other game play footage. Edit, also not sure how I feel about having to walk to falling teammates in order to revive them.

I feel like people are jumping the gun on this. We don't really have context for the mission and we only saw part of it. There's also the fact that they've stated that loyalty missions have multiple objectives and aren't just one mission. I don't think there's enough information to judge ALL the loyalty missions in the game like some people have been.

Certainly not enough for me to draw much of a positive or negative opinion. I'm amazed at how people could judge the entire game based of that 17 minute clip.

Haven't even watched the whole thing to try and avoid spoilers, all I know is the comment section was ultra toxic. being critical about sth =/= 'toxic'. stop using buzzwords. Also, it's all subjective. If anyone liked what he saw in PB preview then I'm happy for you, have a great time playing the game. For me it pushed ME:A from "I'll check out the reviews and then decide but probably will buy it on first spare weekend" to "I'll wait for the opinions on multiplayer and if it's not good I won't bother" territory.

I don't think we've seen enough of the game to draw that conclusion, but I am a bit concerned about how the popularity of the Citadel DLC may have impacted the development of Andromeda.
All this talk about how this is a more light-hearted adventure than the Shepard trilogy, makes me a bit worried that it might be an entire game with the same tone as that DLC. As much as I liked the Citadel DLC, I thought the humor was at times over the top and that the DLC would have been better if that had been dialed back a notch or two.

I have no clue how you could possible draw that conclusion from this. Like I said my conclusion of it was meh, didn't effect my opinion of the game one way or the other. I don't get people like you, why waste your time on the board for a game you clearly have no interest in?

Why are people making deductions from the gameplay video involving PB when we were explicitly told that a lot of context was cut due to spoilers?
For all we know there's more context to the behavior.
Furthermore, why are people making a gross generalization of the entire game based on one character, when PB has repeatedly been described as being a bit quirky compared to the rest? PB reminds me of some students here lol ... these people exist.
If you don't like her interactions, that's fine. Even a negative reaction to a character is a good one.

Because surely, a sane person would obviously think like that based on one mission in a game that will have dozens, dozens and dozens more. By that logic I would sell back ME1 because of that masterpiece of a mission that was Feros. You aren't fooling anyone, you will buy it regardless.

There was no context, so that doesnt help. We literally know nothing of Peebee, her history on there or the remnants and about her rival.
Is the dialog corny, yes. Is the constant "do this" annoying, yes a bit. But its not like this is the first time weve seen something like that. Theres lots of corny moments in the past trilogy. Like Benezias speech on Noveria, i couldnt help but grin during that when i played, and its supposed to be this serious moment.
If i would have seen a one side mission like say wrex's one in ME1, which i s literally shooting the same enemies inside a warehouse, and nothing else, id be worried about ME1 also. The thing is, the actual game turned out pretty decent. So you cant make judgement like that based off of one measly 17 min video where some guy plays badly.

If there's something that there dozens and dozens and dozens more it's ways for me to spend money on entertainment. Your reasoning that I'm somewhat stripped out of free will of not buying a product that has not shown a single thing maybe outside of promising combat to encourage me to buy it is idiotic.
