No, ME1 was marketed with the premise of exploring empty varren planets. You're going to buy it, you have to justify your continuous presence here. You're the allegedly type of person that says it won't buy certain game based on a single heavily edited mission which there was nothing horrendous in it, just because it's cool to spit edgy words. Combat makes 50% of the game, you say it it's very promising, but one mission and no deal? Give me a break. They have show characters & squadmates, story, environments, visuals and whatnot. The previews were good, so are the mock reviews. Everything points to MEA being good just like the original trilogy. You're pulling all this "MEA is going to suck! I told you! I'm so cool!" out of your ass. I currently have no plans to buy it either. Go on and tell me I'm wrong too, since you know us better than we know ourselves. But will you stay around for memes and silliness?

Next are you going to explain to me how social interactions work and then tell me it doesn't relate to what Shepard looks like simply because they are in the same comment? No, I've wasted enough time interacting with a socially maladroit jackass whose default response tone is snark. I'm quite done.

Personally, I feel that MEA is going to be similar in tone to the first Star Trek reboot movie (ie. youthful crew taking on an alien adversary and making names for themselves in a tough galaxy.) Whether your down with that style is all down to personal preference, but I'm really looking forward to it! The mass effect universe is definitely big enough for many different types of story to be told. It doesn't have to be all "big heroes saving the galaxy with serious faces" all the time!

Mass Effect hasn't been a hard Sci-Fi series, since the Bush Administration. The high octane style of storytelling started as early as ME2. Anyone bitching about the childish dialogue in the IGN video, is responding emotionally, rather than looking at with an objective eye.
If you film a superhero team up movie, and the first footage released is of the comedy relief character, you can't deduce that the movie is just gonna be crappy humor throughout, based on that footage alone. Alanah Pierce from IGN talked about having conversations about religion with some of her squadmates during her preview, and we saw footage today of political discussions with a Salarian ambassador. So people upset over Peebee's dialogue need to relax a little.

I don't think we've seen enough of the game to draw that conclusion, but I am a bit concerned about how the popularity of the Citadel DLC may have impacted the development of Andromeda. All this talk about how this is a more light-hearted adventure than the Shepard trilogy, makes me a bit worried that it might be an entire game with the same tone as that DLC. As much as I liked the Citadel DLC, I thought the humor was at times over the top and that the DLC would have been better if that had been dialed back a notch or two. Good point and totally valid concern. But I'm going to hope that Bioware was smart enough to realize that the main reason the Citadel DLC was acceptable and enjoyed by anyone is because we had gotten attached to the characters over the course of 3 games. If they pull something like that with new characters that I don't give a crap about yet, well, it will fall very flat. Also, imagine how grating it would be if they tried that light-hearted tone/banter for the length of an entire game...yikes So, yeah, I'm definitely looking forward to not having the depressing theme of total galactic annihilation hanging over the story, but I don't anticipate an entire game equivalent of shore leave. I'm gonna say I trust Bioware to not make the game one long, corny, campy joke... although I may eat my words later, lol

I know some people hate talking about those things with others, but I'm actually happy so see those elements in an RPG game.

Honestly, I would have liked some kind of middle ground between Citadel and Mass Effects ( too serious most of the time). Here? Few comments felt over the top and would have been better without, usually last "witty comment" overdoes it. Constanza principle...end it on a high note (
What I didn't like is Ryder not confronting PB after the crash...it's not a military ship and I get what they're going for, but there must still exist form of chain of command. There should have been immediate dialogue at beginning.

Hasn't the Mass Effect series or for that matter Bioware games in general always been kind of corny? What's wrong with corny humor anyway so long as it's done well? Corny but not like it was kiddy. The dialogue flavor shown off is very Saturday Morning Cartoon-y, like it's Teen Titans, which isn't necessarily bad (I'm a fan lol) but it's not the Star Trekky vibes of ME1 anymore. I know PeeBee's writer is a screenwriter so he kinda knows what he's doing. He's not the D&D-type writers or novelists that BioWare hired back in the days and it shows because the dialogue has become more adapted to the norms of cinema and cartoons.

I wouldn't call it childish. But the dialogue in the new Peebee loyalty mission sounded as if it was written by an author of young adult novels. I Am Number Four/Twilight/Divergent/Percy Jackson that kind of stuff.

Teen Titans is sadly one of the best things to come out of DC. Most the time they take themselves and their subjects WAY too seriously. "I'M BATMAAAAAN!" "I'M SUPERMAAAN!" "I'M WONDER WOMAAAAAN!" But when they do humor, it's actually quite entertaining. Justice League Unlimited's "The Greatest Story Never Told" starring Booster Gold is perhaps the best episode of the entire series, and my personal favourite.

Teen Titans (the Cartoon Network show that I'm familiar) was great because it had good writing and pacing. Juxtaposed hysterically funny with serious and dramatic perfectly for a morning cartoon show... except the final season which was handled by other people, funny enough. The tone is spot-on and I liked it more than any other DC animated series, maybe next to Batman The Animated series.

I'd agree that some parts of the Citadel DLC were OTT. I think the reasons for the popularity of that DLC are twofold: 1) Shepard had been through a lot with those characters over the course of the entire trilogy, and had developed some pretty close relationships. It was time that we saw them spending some time together that did not involve killing enemies or solving daddy issues. 2) The overall tone of ME3 was awfully dark, and I think some more lighthearted content was sorely needed. I haven't forgotten how I felt the first time I played ME3 and found out that the reapers actually did invade - prior to that, I'd hoped that we would somehow be able to prevent their arrival. It was difficult (and not especially enjoyable) for me to do any of the side content, knowing that millions of people were being harvested every moment, and I mostly had to watch the galaxy burn. And I'll just say that, although I do enjoy the party and other content, one of my favorite aspects of the DLC is Armax Arsenal Arena. I've often wished that completion of the clone quest was not required to access the rest of the content, but it is what it is. I'd like to have a combat trainer/simulator in every game.
