Because it's cost effective and likely allows them to put in more dialogue throughout the game.

I am fine with it, the old games had that too. Also if they can put more dialogue out the better.

I hope there isn't too much of it. I didn't like the zoomed out cam in DAI, and I'd point to it as something that significantly affected my enjoyment of the game overall.

I don't get it. What's the problem? What am I even looking at? I've played every Mass Effect game and every Dragon Age game, and I genuinely don't have a clue.

We knew this since 2014. Sorry this came as a surprise to you OP.
But here's the thing: They obviously fixed the zooming and if we're lucky they make characters pose a bit more than just "right hand gesture in loop".
The reason for this is because they stupidly design their games to be bigger than their budget allows for consistent use of cinematics. If they had to make every scene in this game like the ones you saw in the into video, it would mean scaling down the scope of the product so there'd be maybe 50% less to see or do in the game. Personally I would prefer that if I'm completely honest, but this is at least a better solution than the fuck-shittery of ME3's non-cinematic, shoulder-stretching conversations where Shepard just rambled on with no input.

There's something wrong with that? I think it's lovely! I know it's not in your face cutscenes, but it's not the same engine and some things need to be cut to add more, and this is pretty insignificant in the greater scheme of things.

This looks better than in DAI, but I'm going to be REALLY disappointed if they use it as much as they did in Inquisition. PeeBee's mission showed that there'll be small moments of cinema in between gameplay - something DA:I never did aside from one scene in Crestwood I think - and Jaws of Hakkon showed that they could make an exploration zone that also had cinematic dialogue sequences in between the filler-dialogue, so while I still expect a ton of these sorts of conversations, I think they've improved drastically.

Honestly, I thought that was one of the best features in DAI. Not every conversation needed to be cinematic, and it was great to be able to walk away especially when I accidentally initiated a conversation. Much preferable to the mash button to end conversation only to initiate it again loop.

Who gives a fuck, that was the least of DA:I's problems. No it was a pretty big issue. In total you'd spent a huge amount of time in those types of conversations and none of them had any special gesturing or poses. Zaeed in ME2 actually poses like a character would during a cutscene despite it not using cinematography at all, but in DA:I they all just wave their right hand the entire conversation and Inquisitor stands in a really awkward pose completely stiff. I hope they added at least some variety, becuase we will spent several hours in total in this dialogue-mode.

Who gives a fuck, that was the least of DA:I's problems. To me, it was actually it's second biggest problem, after the empty areas and lack of interesting sidequests. It made the conversations significantly less engaging. If I want to play a game where the characters are virtually motionless and I can't see their faces and reactions, I'll play something like Torment where they can have significantly more dialogue. This bastardized hybrid where the conversations have neither the engagement of cinematic storytelling nor the depth of a text-only approach is a horrible choice for a game that focuses on character interaction and storytelling. Being unable to see even the rudimentary expressions of game characters makes it harder to connect with them and engage with the stories. Leave this style to games like Skyrim and Fallout, where all the characters are flat anyway, and they aren't one of the main foci of the game. Are we absolutely sure that's what is going on here though? It could be a situation where the camera zooms in while the Krogan is speaking to you, but isn't actually a conversation. No sense worrying about something if we aren't even sure it's the case. Already did that with the combat/active ability thing, and that turned out fine.

I always liked the idea, just not DAI's execution. Zooming in more like shown here (and boosting audio, like KaiserShep said) would make me happy with this. The alternative to this aren't cut scenes, it's non-zoomed-in autodialogue (like ME3, or the autodialogue walk-and-talks of Witcher 3). I prefer this.

That was one of DAI's main faults IMHO. Most companions felt like they didn't have much to say and that camera style made the dialogue easily forgettable (for me).

As long as it's not as frequent as DAI. Conversations could be so boring sometimes when I'm just panning the camera around in lieu of cinematics.

Because it's cost effective and likely allows them to put in more dialogue throughout the game. True, but I really kind of hated it...and think it was one of the reasons the luster wore off on DAI far too quickly. Hopefully, they've at least improved the camera positioning.

As others have said, the problem in DAI wasn't that the system existed, it was how often it was used. In such dialogue heavy games, I'd much rather the devs time be spent polishing important cutscenes rather than applying very basic ones to literally every conversation.
DAI slipped up by having some pretty important moments and conversations delivered through this method, but the system itself is sound for less vital talks, and it definitely looks like MEA zooms in way further, almost reminds me of how some conversations looked in Fallout 4.

I noticed this too and i am a bit sad this still exists.. i hated it in DA:I ..
I am ok with it if it is only some minor Side Quest/Exploration NPC. If they dare to do it again on Squadmates/Crew conversations though i will be mad..
I understand that its a cost effecient way to put in more Dialogue.. but in DA:I it was used in way over 50% of ALL Dialogue in the Game.. that would be bad. The Immersion and Dynamic feeling of a Cutscene just isnt there.
As i said above.. i wont complain if its just some Minor Sidequest NPC..

i think it's a reasonable system to save dev. time and money BUT implementation is the key here. DA:I this was not implemented well, first sound mix : conversations where very hard to hear in some cases because of background noise (training ground, etc), the directional channel mix decision was very bad too. Depending on the camera one channel was biased and that annoyed the hell out of me. The camera was way too far and this system was used way too often on important characters. With improvements i can see this system being not annoying at all, but if they didn't learn anything from DA:I, hoo boy that will suck.
