I don't think we got a gay KISA in Mass Effect this time around-though I'm obviously a terrible judge of that term anyway.
I'm really hoping we get one in DA4 though!

Jaal seems like a warrior and a general of his race, he seems to fit that description, still, I want my Cullen and my Alistair, I want a medieval knight. lol

I think we'll need to wait and see how Jaal fits into KISA.

If Jaal can fit this, I'm all for it. But as far as having a gay Knight in Shining Armor Companion in Dragon Age 4? No, do not want. After being railroaded into being the hero in Inquisition, I want to embrace Tevinter's evil empire. I want Companions who ooze greed and decadence, lies and blackmail, fear and oppression, hate and brutality. I want UNLIMITED POWAAAHHHH!!!!!! Ok, they don't all have to be assholes, but I think it would be a nice change of pace if they looked evil at first, and the player discovered that they were more nuanced later, as opposed to the clichéd "hero with a dark secret" trope DA has played out. Anyway, I've been playing Obsidian's Tyranny lately, and it kicks ass . Seriously though, the biggest problem I have for this scenario is that truly moral people in Tevinter usually end up broken or dead. The constant scheming for power, the spies and paranoia, the inflexible laws and caste systems, the slavery, blood magic, and constant war with the Qunari does not allow good people to flourish in the Imperium. You could certainly have characters with a strong personal code of honor, but I don't see how such codes would necessarily match what most people here seem to want. Dragon Age has always been a dark, adult fantasy with complex characters and no easy answers. For the writers to introduce gay KISAs in DA4 who are somehow able to avoid any kind of moral compromise, especially in Tevinter, would break lore, immersion, and internal reality. The only way I could find such a character believable is if they suffer clear consequences for their code, and have the very real possibility of failing and/or changing.

Even if they stuck to the war, these KISAs would still have to deal with Magisters who could also be armchair generals, glory hound rivals, being ordered on pointlessly stupid suicide missions, enslaving or exterminating civilians, etc...

I think we are going to find out that Tevinter is not as bad as we have heard. I mean Dorian seemed to spend a good bit of time saying there are good people there. I suspect that things won't be even as bad as Kirkwall for most of the game. Though there will be a large number of evil mages I'm sure. I'm excited to finally go to a new area though. Orlais was sort of new, but it felt mostly the same.

So if Jaal is indeed bisexual, then I am eager to see if he's a KISA.
Congrats to all the guys who wanted him! Although nothing is set in stone quite yet, it's looking good concerning a Bi Jaal.

I think he's a tech expert mainly from the sounds of it, does that make a difference? I have no idea how to shove Jaal into a personality type at this point. I think he might be breaking some molds in a good way hopefully.
Jaal speculation. Spoilered just in case.

I'll admit that I haven't been following Jaal at all because I am not feeling his cat/squid design at all. But what little I know of him, he sounds like he's kind of a stereotypical "romance novel"/"YA novel" kind of guy, right? He's emotional and sensitive and inquisitive, right? So perhaps he could fit into the trope if he's also noble and selfless and full of moral conviction. But....I kind of hope not, to be honest. I'd be so incredibly disappointed if I've waited this long for my gay KISA and then they give us an emotional cat/squid guy with a monocle and poncho as our version of it.

I don't know if Jaal will fit as KISA because I'm pretty conservative about my KISA opinion, I mean he/she has to be literally a knight/warrior and human to be a true KISA. But if Jaal is indeed of tech/combat nature it will fit all my DA canon romances because I want to role a biotic(mage) this time, it's gonna be perfect Of course we don't know yet his personality but what we know sounds KISA material, the scene in the leak his family is important too... I don't know... I CANT WAIT

Idk personality wise Jaal seems like quite the gentleman. Class wise Vetra is a Sentinel but she seems a little rougish. But she has the shy Allister thing going also. For me Cassandra will always be the KISA that got away for women (and Alister and Cullen for men.)

I remember this thread from long ago. Tbh, I just found out they made a new BW forum lol. Guess we couldn't let go.
Anyways, I've personally never been into stereotypical KISA good boys.
I like edge and one day, I hope we get a male Morrigan type romance from Tevinter. One who has seriously questionable morals, is mysterious, might make you wanna punch him and yet is super sexy and charming...and he likes men.
Maybe a Tevinter Templar with vastly different powers than andrastian templars.Something darker and more sinister, while also being a great tank to keep around in battle.
I hope BW grants us something like that, KISA are soooo boring I might die.

After the knight, I would want an angry mage, but not to Anders level of irrationality. Like, he's got a good head on his shoulders and he's transparent on where he stands, because I think mages have this tendency to be morally questionable as a stereotype. But he's just... always subtly angry. At least that's what I'm gravitating to at the moment. If both this character and the knight in shining armour are in the same story, I like the kind of dynamic it creates: the knight's really gentle, kind, and loyal, while being physically intimidating, whereas the mage is this "tread lightly but ready your staff" kind of character. Then again, this also has the danger of being a cliche relationship (in that it could mirror Alistair and Morrigan's)... so... Anyway, one story at a time...

Probably as a child was naive and wanted to protect people, but later, so hard to keep his morality, the reality is cruel. The Andrastian Templars' everyday tasks: hunting kids and guarding a prison. But have a respected position, and the cruelty approved by Chantry. Easy to believe, that this is the good way (Cullen: our dominance over the mages is divine right). This is not dark? Who can keep/recover his/her morality under these conditions, can be real KISA. A Tevinter Templar just more miserable. Second-class citizen, a "simple" good trained warrior. But easily can be KISA: the real defender of the weak.

This reminds me of Bishop's in-game description from NWN2. With his perpetual shadow of facial hair and rugged physique, Bishop is rather handsome even if his demeanor is thoroughly unwelcoming. Late into his twenties, this veteran of the wilderness has scars and burns across his skin. Constantly on the look out, sniffing the air and checking what's behind him, Bishop's hands are always on his weapons. Every time you look over to Bishop, he's looking right back at you.

That's super high on my LI wishlist. I would 200% take a dude-Morrigan over a KISA. I feel like Dorian was supposed to be this, but he doesn't fit it, for me. Morrigan had a softer side when you got close to her and she let's you come with her in the end, even if you have to get through the DLC to do it. I went through the DLC and Dorian still ditched me. lol
