I'm totally into whatever you two just described! I do love my shady mysterious rogueish guys WHO STICK WITH YOU TILL THE END goddammit! I got the hard side eyes on Reyes on this note. lol Yeah, I feel like Reyes could be good. Sadly I don't find him attractive at all ahah. But can't wait to see the whole romance on youtube if I can manage to get a refund on my pre-order. Otherwise I'll be going for him hardcore! And it allows me to roleplay my Ryder better, cuz I wanted to make a jerk Ryder, I feel like jerk Ryder would get along with Reyes.

I was happy with Gil until I actually saw his romance scenes. Maybe I'll find out there's way more than we saw and it flows better with everything together, but it seemed waaaaaay too rushed, for me. I thought they were going to have a situation where he wanted to have a baby together and actually raise it together after being together for a while. Instead it feels like you're only barely together and you're agreeing to go in on a baby co-op with some random lady he knows? Like, wtf, no, I did not sign up for this. Please tell your friend to get her own boyfriend or girlfriend and we will get our own baby. lol

I mean, I feel like BW is patting themselves on the back with this revolutionary gay romance, but for me, it's just seems cheap. After digesting the baby thing when it was first revealed, I was honestly like '' wait, we've barely known each other, and suddenly we are going to get a child? What? '' I mean for crying out loud that's completely irresponsible and NOT REALISTIC AT ALL!? It does honestly feel like they thought they did something so amazing that they will be applauded for, but in the end, it's just weird, kinda offputting and stupid. But, you do have the choice of saying no to children, which is good, I think. If I ever romance Gil, I won't be having any goddamn kids, that's for sure!

Who has these types of conversations this early in a relationship aside from social climbers who want to show off their baby?

It seems like at that point the entire three scenes we know about are all a set up for you to shoot this guy down on the whole point of his story arc. But the pacing is just terrible. He's like, "we're a couple now, so we make decisions together, should we become parents?" Dude, if you're still leading in with having to remind each other you're in a relationship now, it's not the time for kids. lol They should have at least made an effort to pace it better. We hold hands, bang once and then kids. Who do they think we are, lesbians?

Who has these types of conversations this early in a relationship aside from social climbers who want to show off their baby? It definitely feels like oooh, ooohhh, gay daddies so progressive, to me. And what kills me is that this romance has absolutely zero connection to the plot?! It's all just fluff, it's pure fluff!! The whole Gil character seems to be completely devoid of any importance, but his '' FUN CHARACTERISTICS '' make up for it or whatever. Of course, I'm making sweeping assumptions on who Gil is before actually knowing everything, but yeah, not looking good at all, nope nope! My thoughts exactly my dude! And what really kills me is that all of Gil just seems so disjointed from the game. What the fucking fuck. But, I'm still looking forward to all of his banter because he seems like a fun guy, no doubt. Hopefully Reyes is much better...

If we had a new trilogy to play with, maybe I could see children coming up in game 3. This just seems thrown into the game so they can hope for GLAAD awards for being the first game (i am aware of) with gay parenting brought up. It's just too contrived for me. I can't even...

So, DA4, gay kisa. If he'd look like this, that'd be pretty swell. The nose ring is of course mandatory c: art by this personBUT, I still think what I want is a little bit different from a KISA... I think, in the end, I just want a guy who is really passionated about me and won't, fucking, leave, me, as the game ends.

I pretty much agree on this, it does seem like '' hmh, what kind of gay storyline could I come up with this time that'll tug at people's heart strings? '' It's actually pretty sad how gay guys are in BW games Steve Cortez? Losing his gay husband. Dorian Pavus? Daddy doesn't accept my sexuality. Gil Brodie? Gay parenting, two dudes having a baby. It feels like a lot of gay characters and their romances and storylines do circle around their damn sexuality. This is why I tend to gravitate towards bi males in BW games, because their stories aren't that intertwined with their sexuality. And that's why bi Jaal was so important too, because it seemed to be just what I wanted out of a m/m romance. Sucks, yeah.

But, I'm still looking forward to all of his banter because he seems like a fun guy, no doubt. Hopefully Reyes is much better... It makes me sad because when I first heard about it, I thought it could be a really cool FINAL conversation, like near the end of the game after you'd had a really close, passionate relationship. But there isn't really much emotion, imo. Gil doesn't really make me feel anything from the clips I saw. It seems like he just 90% talks about his chick friend, which is weird for me. It isn't that bad of a start of a relationship if he was interested in more than just telling me what Jill said recently, but there's literally no center to it. You decide you want to be in a relationship, he asks if you want to bang, then suddenly we're at kids. It's just like.. wtf even? There needed to be more middle bonding time for this kind of thing. I feel like I barely know Gil and I'm about to agree to threeway parent with him and a lady I saw once? That's insane. In the scene he even calls her, "my buddy, Jill, who blah blah", like I'm not gonna remember who the fuck she is, but I want to have a co-baby with her. Just.. no. Why? If they wanted to do gay dads, they should have had a well developed, close relationship with more time to grow and put it in as a near end of game "if we make it out" type moment, imo. I like Reyes, because I know he's more part of the game world, where Gil seems to not really do much. It doesn't seem like he's as important as the DA:I advisers. It seems like he's just around and he gives you tutorial info at the start. lol Reyes has a quest that seems pretty relevant at least to Kadara. It seems like he's basically like if you could have romanced Aria in the trilogy, except as a dude. Still wish we could get a DLC with him as a temp companion later, though.

Yeah, the romance is a messy pile of poop, there's no denying that. I don't know what they were thinking with this, but I guess they didn't really think at all, did they? I'm sure some people are going to love his romance, but I can't get past the quick jump into having children, the third wheel Jill and basically everything you said. This should've been a perfect final conversation between Gil and Scott. '' Hey, so, we've been together for a while now... you think, you'd want to start a family with me someday '' and then you can either respond with '' hell yeah son '' or '' I think I've got my hands full of you already, us two together, forever, I think we'll do fine '' BOOM, that would have been a spectacular romance. Cut the Jill bullshit, add some story related stuff to the romance, and done-diddly-one. A much better romance. I'm holding out hope that maybe Reyes gets a DLC but... let's not jump the gun lol.

Cut the Jill bullshit, add some story related stuff to the romance, and done-diddly-one. A much better romance. I'm holding out hope that maybe Reyes gets a DLC but... let's not jump the gun lol. A big part of what bothers me about Jill is that it sort of feels like they still thought two guys couldn't raise a baby alone. If one of them donates sperm and some lady is the one actually living with and mostly taking care of the baby, let's be honest, you're not really much of a parent. It's like, they still couldn't imagine a situation where it was two dads actually taking care of the baby AS REAL PARENTS without a mom actually doing all the work. I get that they probably saw it as an easy out to having someone with the baby if they continued with Ryder, but I don't like the message it sends at all.

Exactly... like even if they didn't intend to send that message, it does stink of it, and I honestly hope even the biggest Gil fanboys will have some sort of criticism towards this. Neil (Gil's writer) kinda let me down on this one, as I have no interest in romancing Gil, at all. But I'm still curious about his banter! Can't wait to listen to Gil banter videos.

That's kind of the one thing he has over Reyes, interaction with the rest of the ship. Apparently Lexi can talk about Reyes and maybe some others will mention him, but I doubt there's much opportunity at all where he'll talk to everyone else. I'm sad Reyes can't be at movie night. That video of it with a romanced Gil didn't have him do much, anyway, I guess. My bb Kallo was great, though. Should have been a romance. </3

He is cute as a button, what a missed opportunity. Yeah, really sad Reyes doesn't make it to the movie night. What a load of bollocks. Yet again proof that gay dudes get left behind on content Can't wait for the '' apology '' DLC that will have one gay character who'll die in during the DLC!

I'm personally waiting the 'we don't see a difference in npc vs squadmate romances' response (if we even get one lol) However this game hasn't even launched for most of the world, and already we can see about a 20 minute difference between them.

You know, at this point, I think all the devs are liars. They really hurt BWs reputation for me right now. I'm not that excited for DA4 anymore, because I just know it's going to be a shitshow like this one! But I will be excited anyway cuz us humans, we never learn. Can't wait for my gay saarebas slowburn romance

Maybe you'll at least get to see DLC gay's butt before he betrays you and you're forced to murder him. That will be the one thing they'll take away.

'' Or maybe the one after that? Or the one after that? Wait, no, it's the one after that, we totally learned our lessons now.. I mean, next game, no no, the one after the next game... '' But yeah, let's hope DA4 will deliver!

Thank you nocte and witchocktor. I was feeling lost a bit, and glad to read your thoughts on this bizarre insta-baby situation. Too tired to comment and I have to go judge some of my co-worker's student's work for a juried show, but I am just... shaking my head at what seems to have happened in this game.

So, DA4, gay kisa. If he'd look like this, that'd be pretty swell. The nose ring is of course mandatory c: art by this personBUT, I still think what I want is a little bit different from a KISA... I think, in the end, I just want a guy who is really passionated about me and won't, fucking, leave, me, as the game ends. dorf or qunari version mmhmm :sure:
