The Gay Knight in Shining Armor

My thoughts exactly my dude! I mean, I feel like BW is patting themselves on the back with this revolutionary gay romance, but for me, it's just seems cheap. After digesting the baby thing when it was first revealed, I was honestly like '' wait, we've barely known each other, and suddenly we are going to get a child? What? '' I mean for crying out loud that's completely irresponsible and NOT REALISTIC AT ALL!? It does honestly feel like they thought they did something so amazing that they will be applauded for, but in the end, it's just weird, kinda offputting and stupid. But, you do have the choice of saying no to children, which is good, I think. If I ever romance Gil, I won't be having any goddamn kids, that's for sure!

But like, what even is the romance if you say no to kids. It seems like at that point the entire three scenes we know about are all a set up for you to shoot this guy down on the whole point of his story arc. 

But the pacing is just terrible. He's like, "we're a couple now, so we make decisions together, should we become parents?" Dude, if you're still leading in with having to remind each other you're in a relationship now, it's not the time for kids. lol They should have at least made an effort to pace it better. We hold hands, bang once and then kids. Who do they think we are, lesbians?

If we had a new trilogy to play with, maybe I could see children coming up in game 3.  This just seems thrown into the game so they can hope for GLAAD awards for being the first game (i am aware of) with gay parenting brought up.  It's just too contrived for me.  I can't even...

I pretty much agree on this, it does seem like '' hmh, what kind of gay storyline could I come up with this time that'll tug at people's heart strings? '' 

It's actually pretty sad how gay guys are in BW games

Steve Cortez? Losing his gay husband. 
Dorian Pavus? Daddy doesn't accept my sexuality.
Gil Brodie? Gay parenting, two dudes having a baby.

It feels like a lot of gay characters and their romances and storylines do circle around their damn sexuality.
This is why I tend to gravitate towards bi males in BW games, because their stories aren't that intertwined with their sexuality.
And that's why bi Jaal was so important too, because it seemed to be just what I wanted out of a m/m romance. Sucks, yeah.

It makes me sad because when I first heard about it, I thought it could be a really cool FINAL conversation, like near the end of the game after you'd had a really close, passionate relationship. But there isn't really much emotion, imo. Gil doesn't really make me feel anything from the clips I saw. It seems like he just 90% talks about his chick friend, which is weird for me. It isn't that bad of a start of a relationship if he was interested in more than just telling me what Jill said recently, but there's literally no center to it. You decide you want to be in a relationship, he asks if you want to bang, then suddenly we're at kids. It's just like.. wtf even? There needed to be more middle bonding time for this kind of thing. I feel like I barely know Gil and I'm about to agree to threeway parent with him and a lady I saw once? That's insane. In the scene he even calls her, "my buddy, Jill, who blah blah", like I'm not gonna remember who the fuck she is, but I want to have a co-baby with her. Just.. no. Why? If they wanted to do gay dads, they should have had a well developed, close relationship with more time to grow and put it in as a near end of game "if we make it out" type moment, imo.

I like Reyes, because I know he's more part of the game world, where Gil seems to not really do much. It doesn't seem like he's as important as the DA:I advisers. It seems like he's just around and he gives you tutorial info at the start. lol Reyes has a quest that seems pretty relevant at least to Kadara. It seems like he's basically like if you could have romanced Aria in the trilogy, except as a dude. Still wish we could get a DLC with him as a temp companion later, though.

A big part of what bothers me about Jill is that it sort of feels like they still thought two guys couldn't raise a baby alone. If one of them donates sperm and some lady is the one actually living with and mostly taking care of the baby, let's be honest, you're not really much of a parent. It's like, they still couldn't imagine a situation where it was two dads actually taking care of the baby AS REAL PARENTS without a mom actually doing all the work. I get that they probably saw it as an easy out to having someone with the baby if they continued with Ryder, but I don't like the message it sends at all.

That's kind of the one thing he has over Reyes, interaction with the rest of the ship. Apparently Lexi can talk about Reyes and maybe some others will mention him, but I doubt there's much opportunity at all where he'll talk to everyone else. I'm sad Reyes can't be at movie night. That video of it with a romanced Gil didn't have him do much, anyway, I guess. My bb Kallo was great, though. Should have been a romance. </3

I'm personally waiting the 'we don't see a difference in npc vs squadmate romances' response (if we even get one lol)  However this game hasn't even launched for most of the world, and already we can see about a 20 minute difference between them.  

Maybe you'll at least get to see DLC gay's butt before he betrays you and you're forced to murder him. That will be the one thing they'll take away.
