I just finished "The Evil Within 2" not too long ago....i luv survival horror (gotta be 3rd person tho..) and this game was sooo much better than the first one. Improved visuals, better story and it managed to give a bit more depth to the main character which in turn made him a much more interesting and compelling character to care about....especially when looking at his past and the reasons for him to take this horrific journey. Tight dark corridors, a wide array of weapons and devices which added a certain type of strategy to kill enemies...side stories that was well crafted and gave you more insight as to what was going on...and the art direction and design overall was 10 times better than the first game and the creature designs was the stuff of your nightmares running completely wild......terrifying and disturbing imagery in most parts of the game and i absolutely loved it. Now the story isn't going to win any awards, but it was good for a horror game and this game is filling that void that Konami left in terms of the "Silent Hill series"...yeah konami sucks a$$... ...but i enjoyed this game....

and this game was sooo much better than the first one. When it comes to games I can think of so many franchises right away that have a much better second game. That doesn't necessarily mean the first game was bad but very often they improved a lot of things in the second game - just before they went downhill with part 3. Of course there are exceptions... series where the first game was much better than the rest (Dead Space comes to mind) but some of my all time favorite games are "game number 2" in the series... like Mass Effect 2, Darksiders 2, God Of War 2, Ninja Gaiden 2, Shadow Warrior 2, Metroid 2, Diablo 2... just to name a few of that list.

Disappointed that your list lacks Borderlands 2 and Assassin's Creed 2. I was thinking about Borderlands 2 and I liked the game but overall the Borderlands franchise probably is not high enough on my all time favorite list. That's why I said "just to name a few" because I can easily think of more games like Borderlands 2, Uncharted 2, Left 4 Dead 2, Batman Arkham City, Half Life 2, Portal 2, Just Cause 2, Street Fighter 2 - although this is just a personal opinion obviously. As for Assassins Creed: I never really got into that series - it just has no appeal to me whatsoever. Like pretty much most Ubisoft games. But I heard the second one is very good/the best one. Speaking of Ubisoft: I thought about some series in which the second game is probably considered the worst (by me or by most people) and Far Cry 2 came to mind. Most people consider Far Cry 3 to be the best one yet but personally I think the original first game was the best (the one Crytek made before Ubisoft took over, messed up FC2 while Crytek moved on to create Crysis - a franchise in which the second game is the worst as well by the way). Deus Ex 2 Invisible War was also a big letdown compared to the original. And one of the worst sequels ever has to be Devil May Cry 2. So not everything is golden in "sequel-land"

I think I'm either going to buy the original Deus Ex and play it, or load up Ultima V.
Yep, going old school.

Apparently it is a pretty well-developed long-term mod, and is still maintained. The graphical difference is remarkable. genericname112.wixsite.com/gmdx

I recently finished Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice. I'm not easily impressed, but that thing swept me off my feet. Highly recommended! Otherwise I regularly play Elder Scrolls Online and Rocket League. Saw one post on the previous page with some chill ESO screenshots (\wave at Urizen). There anyone else here playing Rocket League tho? I'm totally LFT to carry me out of Bronze.

Oh, it's already there in the SP subforum I like the idea of a remaster. Unfortunately, they can fall victim to the same issues facing sequels: What justifies making a sequel (or in this case a remaster) an how true do we stay to the original? I haven't been following the development of the System Shock remaster in much detail but it is my impression that the release has been stalled for these reasons. GMDX looks great and respectful of the original. Thx Qui-Gon GlenN7 for bringing this to my attention. Still, some games/game concepts are just too strong to fade into oblivion. Look at at the horrific attempts to reboot X-COM before that story got a happy ending

There has been talk of an ME trilogy remaster for a few years. EA even acknowledged that this is something the fans want. However, back in 2016, EA did not want to do the remaster because they preferred to look forward i.e towards ME:A. After ME:A tanked, the studio responsible got broken up with resources shifted elsewhere. As things stand now, it does not appear that ME trilogy remaster is going to happen. Actually, EA has pretty much messed up with the ME franchise. If you look at the development history of ME:A with all the last minute changes and lack of direction and resources, it is little wonder that ME:A did not do as well as it should have. ME should have ended with Marauder Shields.

However, the dilemma remains; Do you just polish up the graphics, streamline game play (like having the same shooting/power/cover mechanics in all 3 games) or do you go as far as altering the story? I'm not gonna troll SP forum posters for asking these questions. I wanted to acknowledge the point in XCPTNL 's post that there are games way older for which you can justify a remaster, imho introducing these games to a new audience. I'm not so sure making a MET remaster now will extend the fan base. It is my impression that those of us still posting in the ME3MP forum are quite content with the game as is; Many have tried out MEAMP and returned to the original...

However, the dilemma remains; Do you just polish up the graphics, streamline game play (like having the same shooting/power/cover mechanics in all 3 games) or do you go as far as altering the story? I totally agree... this is a big dilemma. I'm not even sure what I'd like to see personally. On the one hand I think a remaster should be mainly updated graphics and resolution while staying true to the original. On the other hand I can't see myself playing ME1 again with much joy with the clunky mechanics compared to ME3. Or the horrible scaling in difficulty which is just tedious instead of challenging. But making ME1 play like ME3 doesn't work either because it requires changes that affect the very core of the game. On a different topic: I participated in playing around 6-7 hours of Horizon Zero Dawn yesterday at a friend's place. Have seen and played the game before with him but anyways... really enjoy it aside from the fact that I have to use a controller and can't aim for shit with this thing. Wish the game was on PC so fighting/shooting would be 10x more fun.

I totally wish I could have Horizon Zero Dawn on PC to run it smoothly at 60fps and to be able to play it with M/K... If I had more time right now and a more suitable setup I could actually see myself getting a PS4 Pro just for this game (and 3-4 more PS4 exclusives while I'm at it). Been watching a lot of stuff regarding that game lately...

Lately I've been playing Fallout 2. Not too far into it yet, so far it suffers from the same power-curve issues as Fallout 1 did, but the locations and characters are more fleshed-out than they were in 1 so that's a definite improvement. It was a bit annoying to roll a diplomat-gunslinger character (which worked quite well in the first game) and then be given a spear as my only weapon. Overall I'm enjoying it, but it hasn't really sunk its hooks in yet.
Over the Christmas holidays I "played" Doki Doki Literature Club. It's a visual novel, so whether you want to call it a "game" is debatable. Really enjoyed it though, it definitely deserves all the most of the praise it's been getting.
I still dabble in MEAMP now and then, but some days it's impossible to find a lobby even for the dailies.

Totally dissimilar and unrelated to ME3, obviously, but I've been puttin' in work on NBA 2k18 lately- MyCareer mode is still fun as hell (even if it has gotten really grindy), and the level/attribute caps don't seem as draconian as in 2k17. Still a far cry from being able to make whatever type of player you want and all-but max them out back in '15 and prior, though. Made a 7'1 300-lb pure post scoring center and am thoroughly enjoying dunking on everyone and gobbling up every single rebound.

Then again I also loved making myself look like Grace Jones and play as a lanky 6-10 PG...swatting soooo many 3's. Edit: But the most important question: what's your jersey number?

I'm not really in the market for another console (plus thinking about upgrading my AMD 8320 rig to a Ryzen 1700), but Naughty Dog alone has me experiencing some serious PS4 envy. HZD on top of it makes it even harder to refrain from making the plunge.

I might get at PS4 Pro at some point just for this game but that doesn't change the fact that it runs with 30fps and I have to use a controller - which is particularly annoying if you try to fire precise shots targeting certain parts of the machines. Now let's see how good the new God Of War will be and I'm also intrigued by Ghost of Tsushima. So maybe I'll get a PS4 for these games. Right now I'm totally hooked on HZD even though I can't play it at home...

A lot of them are poorly ported to the PC (like Deux Ex 2 which you mentioned in a previous post). However, I have to admit some games are better suited for a controller and the PS4 is building up a decent portfolio. Another game that might give me the final push to invest in a PS4 is Death Stranding. It looks like it has a story and some game features I've never seen before. Kojima behind the wheel and the Metal Gear franchise a dumpster fire after he left Konami. Dont know if that's a coincidence...

Lol I actually don't remember: I'm having what is presumably a glitch, where it shows your jersey number as "0" in all the cut-scenes, regardless of what your jersey number actually is, so I can't remember what number I picked (it wasn't 0 though)... And I was tempted to buy Nba Live this year, I had been a fan years ago before the series went on hiatus, and the last couple iterations of 2k had been pretty disappointing (2k17 and 2k16).. but 2k18 had gotten pretty good reviews, and I liked that you could reach 99 overall with your MyPlayer again (in 2k17 the cap was like 85 or something, very very lame) so that's what I went with, and so far so good.

I totally agree on the topic about exclusives larsdt On the other hand it's what mostly distinguishes one console from another. Of course there are other things factoring in but just imagine Nintendo without their franchises - hardly anyone would buy a Nintendo console anymore because from a technical perspective it's pure crap. Well, consoles in general are compared to PCs but I mean Nintendo consoles vs. Sony and Microsoft in this case. People usually buy Nintendo for Mario, Zelda and the likes. I'm mostly pissed off by timed exclusives and/or when third party developers get basically bribed to only make the game available to one platform even though they usually make their games for several platforms. I really hate that. Rise Of The Tomb Raider was such an example... Then you have exclusives that are being made by first party studios and the results are often amazing because they can focus on that specific platform and can make the best of it. And Sony has quite a good portfolio in this department with studios like Naughty Dog, Guerilla Games, Sucker Punch, Santa Monica Studios, Polyphony or studios that do 90% of their stuff for Sony like Insomniac Games (they are working on a Spider-Man game now that could actually be good). And these studios usually deliver really great games even though I'm not a fan of all of them but that's just personal preference. I can totally understand that first party studios obviously only develop games for that one specific platform - but it still sucks big time. It's not so much a question of owning several platforms (heck, my current GPU was more expensive than both Sony's and Microsoft's console combined at that time) but more a question of being able to play a good game on a superior platform: better graphics, higher resolutions, more fps, maybe modding, more options in general... I do agree: there are games that are better suited for controllers. But that's why I have a Xbox One S Controller in my desk drawer and the best thing is when you can actually combine it with other devices. Like using the controller when driving a vehicle but then switching to mouse and keyboard when you go around shooting things for example. But... it is what it is and I have owned all past Playstation consoles at one point or another in their cycle as well as a Xbox 360 but I never used them for anything else except a few exclusives (except the PS 1 because at that time I was young and my PC was crap). Death Stranding got my attention as well although I need to see more obviously. But it might be interesting. Not that big of a Kojima fan, but not a hater or anything either. I totally loved Metal Gear Solid on the PS1 but never really got into the follow up games for some reason (not counting Metal Gear Rising which is still in my Steam library waiting to be played more than just 2 hours and is a totally different game). But we'll see... I have too many games to play and just so little time, especially right now. Yet in order to actually make the move and buy a PS4 I need some more games to warrant a buy - even though I'm totally hooked on HZD right now. But there are more titles coming and some interesting ones already available that I'd get (Bloodborne) so at this point it's more a matter of WHEN than IF when it comes to the decision of buying a PS4 (Pro) Mostly looking forward to the new God Of War (even though it will be totally different than the previous ones) and to seeing some gameplay of Ghost of Tsushima which made me go "holy shit I need a PS4" when I saw the trailer, what the game is about and that Sucker Punch is behind it.
