Yeah, I got my keybinds all set up once I was in the fort thingy, but as far as I could tell, there was no way to set them up ahead of time before starting the intro mission. Seemed like a weird design choice to me. You should be able to configure your settings right away after launching. At the title screen there is an option in the right lower corner to go into the settings or change the pilot.

Anyone into online chess? What kind of time control do you prefer? Tried 10 min two times but I feel like 30 min would be better for me. Played against bots with no control for some time, for context. I have played a bit with TheNightSlasher but not enough to prefer any time setting yet... If it s to slow i m not good enough, if it s too fast i have no reflexe yet. I suck too, but it s still fun You two should play and have revenge on the THUNDERDOME !! My money is on slasher for the chess and cherry for the collectors !!!!

I play a decent amount of online chess, although my activity varies - sometimes I do 10+ games/day, sometimes no games for a week or so. I rarely do 30 mins. Usually, it's 5+5, 3+2, or 15+10. 15+10 is good for trying out new stuff for me. chess.com bots are kinda boring to play against. At low levels, they make too many dumb moves and at moderate-to-high levels, they make too many precise moves. There is no middle ground, from what I noticed.

But it is highly unlikely for me to play anything with default keybindings (or other adjusted settings). If I start the game now and then opt to create a new pilot it will let me do so and then start the intro mission and I believe at first launch the pilot option wasn't there (since you don't have one yet) but I think the settings options was there right from the beginning at the launch screen and the game wants you to press 'space' (or go to the settings) before starting anything. But like I said... I can't be 100% certain, somebody totally new would have to check that I guess.

It stems from way back in prehistoric times, when I first tried out the original DOOM on a big square-ish rock that had the numbers "386" scraped on the side. Squatting there in my cave, draped in pelts, I played around with key configs to find something comfortable. Instead of the default WASD, I came up with my own custom configuration that I ended up getting used to. Ever since then, it's been impossible for me to comfortably use the default WASD layout.

The puzzle rating and game rating don't correlate, IMO. From my experience, rapid rating is 100-200 (sometimes more) lower than puzzle rating.

Recently finished Labyrinth of touhou 2. It's a different take on what Touhou is usually known for, which is its colourful bullet hell patterns. Labyrinth of touhou 2 is made into a dungeon crawler game, if anyone is familiar with the Etrian Odyssey series, it's similar to that except it's a third person dungeon crawler with an ATB combat system, if you don't know what ATB is like think FFIV SNES. Not to make this a long post but I will say I love and hate this game at the same time, love it for it's fun surprisingly indepth combat, and hate it for bosses sometimes being arguably BS. I won't lie, during moments of frustration I wanted to drop this game. But I stuck with it until the end, and used more brain power than I've ever used on an RPG game and finally finished it If you're not a fan of Touhou and don't care much about the story, but you want a challenging game, LOT2 doesn't disappoint. Requires a decent amount of time investment, if you're only playing the base game it's not too bad only requiring less than 100 hours to complete. If you get the plus disk version which I got, it's like another 200 hours, people have said they finished the whole game in it's entirety at 300 which is close to where I ended up finishing, at 328 hours. There's also Labyrinth of Touhou 1, I picked the second game because it's the recent one, and if I had to guess it's probably just as time consuming and I need a break from that type of game.

Finished the main game of DOOM ETERNAL a few days ago. I took my time with each level, finding all secrets and collecting every collectible as well as doing the mission challenges, secret encounters and slayer gates. I still have the DLCs to go. And a lot to learn when it comes to quickswitching weapons and other things even though I could definitely notice how I got better over the course of the game.

Anyone into online chess? What kind of time control do you prefer? I still play blitz on a daily basis, 5-6 games, on lichess and on chess24. Bullet is too fast for me, and anything longer than 5-0 is too slow. My performance is rather average but some time ago on a good day I managed to beat a US Champion fair and square in a 5-0 game on chess 24, and no, the grandmaster did not blunder anything too badly, it were a rather positional game.
If somebody wants to pair up, shoot me a friend request, my tags on both sites are same as here.

(i m clearly unqualified to play at your level), but what are those 5|0 3|0 and 3|2 referring to ? first number is total time per player i guess, but the second one ?
edit: found it, but no so fast, second number is the seconds you add to your clock at each of your moves. A(nd first is the starting number of minutes for each player.)

I think I will settle for 30|0 now, I don't comprehend blitz games yet. Also congratulations for beating a GM, that is way beyond my ambitions.

I haven't installed these yet, but uh... here's the result of last night's drunken cheap-game-buying spree. I think I paid about five bucks for all these together. Well, I went on another late-night binge of cheap, questionable Steam purchases. And I wasn't even drunk this time! Edit: This probably sounds extra weird, but I bought Wet Girl exclusively because the 2 music tracks are amazing, and normally cost $49 dollars each from a song licensing website.

Check em out: www.premiumbeat.com/royalty-free-tracks/the-afterpartywww.premiumbeat.com/royalty-free-tracks/fashionistaThe game's coded in Unity, so (don't tell the dev this but) I was able to install the game and use a resource extractor to rip the non-audio-watermarked versions. Edit: I paid $3.14 for those six games lol. I also went full memes and bought Garfield Kart the other day.

After 222 hours of Outriders I tried Destiny 2 for around 25 hours but since Bungie apparently took out a huge chunk of the game's free content (the main campaign and the first two story expansions I think) it just feels totally weird getting into this game as you pretty much have no idea what the fuck is going on and who these characters are and such. The basic F2P content is pretty limited now as well and more content is locked beyond paywalls. The game has some appeal but overall it's too slow for my liking and cooldowns are insanely long. I also took another look at Warframe and while the gameplay and the way they handle getting paid for the game is more to my liking I eventually got bored again by the rather bland level design and ended up playing Anthem again instead

Nothing to pity there. For me Anthem overall has the best and most fun gameplay ever which is why I have so many hours logged with it and still do solo runs and make videos. It has flaws in regards to the loot-system as well as ability/weapon balance and could take away a lot of things from Warframe, Destiny and even Outriders or Borderlands. But when it comes to gameplay I can't find anything else that excites me nearly as much as this game does. Too bad they scrapped the overhaul. I wish they gave the whole franchise to another studio - if I had the kind of money needed to buy it I'd probably do so and then have it reworked in the areas that need it before putting out much more content for it.

Anthem's gameplay is incredibly fluid and quite fun. The combo system is extremely satisfying. Like ME3, it is greatly enhanced by the sound design. They did a great job making the 4 classes feel quite different in movement, sound, and "feel".
But it does feel extremely limited. With only the 4 strongholds, 15-20 scripted missions you'll soon know every part of, and (to me) not very creative randomly-generated missions. And the grind system is obviously designed around keeping you on that hamster wheel.
... re-reading that, can't it all be said of ME3MP? Yet it seems the 59 classes, and variety of ways to play them, makes all the difference. Even the 13+6 maps comes across as more than Anthem's.
XCPTNL: Do you think that is off-base? Do you still find new ways to play each of the 4 Anthem kits? Still find something "new" that you hadn't realized before? Or is it all about perfecting your game and/or breaking some record?

Not really fair to compare a full game against a bolted on multiplayer which was more of an afterthought (it certainly didn't have the production time of Anthem and I doubt anyone bought ME3 when it first came out just for the multiplayer)

Indeed, the fluidity of the gameplay and details like the sound design make it such a blast for me to play. But yes, it feels very limited and I'd be glad if there were way more strongholds and raid-like challengen plus maybe more and better things to do in the beautiful open world. The grind is real for sure but the same can be said about games like Destiny and Warframe as well. And yes, the grind can be quite exhausting in ME3MP as well if you are just starting out and are doing it the way it was intended. I played ME3MP right from the beginning and usually had enough credits to get everything new right away when a DLC was released. There certainly is more variety than there is in Anthem - although to be fair it wasn't like that in the beginning when there were not that many kits and maps to play. Personally, I don't need that much variety but obviously I can understand that it matters to others. In ME3MP I'd be fine playing just the 3 Drell for example and in the end I usually did just that, maybe mixing in a few Asari or the occasional Human Soldier. Mostly used the same weapons as well. As long as I'm having fun I'm good and I certainly lean more towards the "perfecting your game"-type of player. That's probably one of the reasons why I can still enjoy playing Anthem even though I'd be more than happy to have more content/strongholds and more build variety with better balanced weapons and abilities. I'm usually just hopping in for an hour or so, doing some challenges and enjoying the gameplay. Sometimes I challenge myself and I wish I could set the strongholds to private as to reliably be able to play them solo and thus speedrun them. For every stronghold solo I have on my Youtube channel there are probably 10-20 or so runs that ended in someone joining the game via quickplay while I was recording.
