I finally decided to try out Cyberpunk… created my character, was quite happy with her, was even able to look in a mirror, talking to someone and then whoopsie, crash to desktop Maybe I’ll try again tomorrow and hope for the best edit: running steam as administrator worked so far… now I only need to decide which origin to play (started all three to see what’s what )

I just found out about the pico-8 a couple weeks ago and I've been checking out the different carts available. It's neat being able to get in a quick retro gaming session anywhere I have browser access.

You know, when it's actually fixed (assuming they'll keep working on that) - and when I have better hardware

muahmuah what are your favorite bosses from DS3 and playstyle/weapon? I've pretty much beat base game Dark Souls 3 (only Nameless King remains) and then I'm on to the DLC. I've thoroughly enjoyed it so far and it's ~95% blind playthrough and I'm excited for the DLC. I thought the level design was pretty damn good, even if the game itself was pretty linear compared to the original, and I enjoyed finding the secrets and interconnectivity of the individual areas themselves. The art design was fantastic as well as there are a lot of beautiful areas, I especially like Irithyll with the snow and dark. I fucked up a looot of the NPC stuff and really only got Seigward right and I still don't understand wtf I'm doing in PvP. I went pure dex build (DS1 I did both because of Claymore and Gold Tracer), but might respec because I miss my Greatswords and Ultra Greatswords The fighting was more chaotic, but not necessarily faster than DS1, and early game was difficult with limited estus and weaker weapons until I figured out what I wanted to play. I don't parry, don't use magic (save for Power Within), and don't use shields so I probably make the game harder than it needs to be. Overall the bosses were good and some were just awesome like Dancer, Dragonslayer armor, Champion Gundyr, and Pontiff and their boss music was very on point. Side-note - there are a lot of two stage/phase bosses and was more surprised when it didn't happen. Wet fart bosses would be Deacons of the Deep, Ocieros, and Curse-Rotted Greatwood. Wolnir was blah. I only summoned for 3 bosses - Vordt, Abyss Watchers, and Soul of Cinder (I got drunk and impatient and just wanted to beat him ). Fuck the Serpent men at Archdragon Peak, that's really the only enemy I despise in the entire game.

My favourite boss fight is vs Sister Friede(DLC boss) and vs Darkeater Midir(another DLC boss). In fact all DLC bosses are harder and more fun (except Champion's Gravetender and Gravetender's Greatwolf, they were kinda easy) than the base game IMO. My favourite weapon is moonlight greatsword.Nameless King has one of the most cool designs i've ever seen in a game. The arena is neat too. He is probably hardest boss in the base game, although i've never had troubles beating him.Using shield helps, but it's not something fundamental or a game changer.Parrying on the other hand is very useful vs some of the bosses like Champ Gundyr and Sully. It's hard to parry ,but once you master it,it's very satisfying. As for the gameplay,IMO DS3 has the best one ,more dynamic. That said,i do love the clumsy gameplay in the original DS and Demon Souls. It's just different kind of enjoyment. And seriously, summoning for Vordt? Wtf,man? I never summon tho. Just want to beat everything solo. The zones design is great indeed, typically for FROM Software. Atmospheric stuff. Btw,if you can't find Midir in the second DLC,just google it. This guy is a must. He is an optional boss and if you don't know where to look,it's very easy to miss him. P.S if your build is dex-based then you should use sellswords twinblades. The best weapon in the game as DPS. Fast and scales pretty good. I like the greatswords too,but vs some of the bosses on the first playthrough can be a nightmare,'cus they are slow and the bosses fast.

And seriously, summoning for Vordt? Wtf,man? Lol I know. I did learn to parry enough just to beat Champ Gundyr and that really helped. I'm excited for the DLC though. P.S if your build is dex-based then you should use sellswords twinblades. The best weapon in the game as DPS. Fast and scales pretty good. I'll have to give them a go, I got the Lothric Knight Sword early and just used that the whole game. I infused it with sharp and at +10 has S scaling with dex and has some pretty good damage. I'll have to look up what the hard/soft caps are to see if I should stop putting points in dex soon. I did notice there's a bunch of fast bosses that GS and UGS probably would've been annoying with, Pontiff for example.

The Classic fallouts are games I WANT to enjoy, but I just can't get my head around the mechanics and everything just feels tedious to me Feel like this with a lot of classics with turn based combat and that distinct old-game-jank. Returning to this comment months later. I've been playing Fallout 1 on twitch and i've got to say that now that I've figured out how to play it and gotten use to the interface, I think this game is a blast. I can't wait to try fallout 2 and tactics.

Speaking (well, writing) of old games, how many of you have played Star Control 2? If you haven't, I HIGHLY recommend it. An amazing blending of genres to make one of my all-time favorite games. Maybe favorite game that doesn't start with "Mass". It appears on a few "greatest of all time" lists. I still have the music on my phone

I'd say so lol. I finally beat the damn Nameless King after so, so many tries. I think I was having trouble getting the timing on when to dodge because it's subtly different than most enemies, but once I figured it out it was a lot of fun. I was trying with SS Twinblades, but I switched to the Hollowslayer GS and ended up getting him within a dozen or so tries, I even got ripostes on King of the Storm and Nameless which was nice because I got my ass kicked so many times. Onto Ariandel where I'm getting my shit kicked in by Mirkwood knights

For some reasons i killed him very fast in my first playthrough. Nowadays, with over 1000 hours spent in DS3, i can beat him blindfolded, with any build, including SL1. Using gold pine resin versus King of the storm and charcoal pine resin vs Nameless King, helps a lot. I had problems beating Lothric Prince back then. As for Ariandel, there are some interesting enemies, but here is one of two best fights in this game IMO. The "compassionate sister" Friede will welcome you. IDK if you can finish both DLCs in time for Elden Ring.

I have played Undergarden with my kids though, pretty cool game, thx @fuckit Very different style of game, fun and laid-back. Super pretty for its time. *** Been getting in a fair amount of MP games lately. Run into a lot of BSNers in the last month. Either the pool is really drying up or MELE got the MP hook sunk back in for a lot of you... Then again it's probably just both. These were my recent adventures in Baldur's Gate 2: Enhanced Edition, unmodded. Spoilered for your viewing convenience, copy/pasted from the thread. More Baldur's Gate 2 EE. Did Brynnlaw then Spellhold. Haven't been this far in several years. I'm going to spoiler the whole thing just in case. (Cause there's a couple big ones for BG2.) Me: Human Berserker 9 dualed to mage, lvl 16-17 for this part. Dorn Hexxat Viconia Edwin Yoshimo/Imoen I ransacked Brynnlaw. Nothing in that town could touch me so I burned through it fast. (If comprehesively.) Got an exploit to work. Infinite Books of Infinite Spells. Didn't wind up using it but I was curious if the bug worked or not. Left about 10 of the books on the floor of the tavern. I did use it to ensure the book was on the page I wanted it on though. Spell Turning, which Dorn can use to help himself against magic users while he's in melee. I originally intended to use the wardstone to just walk up to Spellhold and barge in, but I am using the Gamebanshee guide so as not to miss things. It mentioned there being a substantial XP reward for getting yourself admitted instead. Went to the Pirate King, he was uncooperative until Yoshimo uses his own name like a code-word... After that Desharik sings a different tune and we're spirited off to the exceptionally ineffectual asylum for spellcasters. (You'd think there'd be some dead-magic zones around or something...) Where I meet a bunch of crazies, one lady who could make a killing off of spectral demon-fighting viewing, and then the Coordinator. The big bad, John Irenicus. Where a near-nude Yoshimo informs me he's been poisoning me for a while. Since we set sail on the ship apparently. Well Yoshimo, two can play that game and you appear to be missing all your items and clothes. (Except for his Katana which I graciously left him.) I also find out that Bodhi, who I have been working with, is in fact in league with Irenicus. (Shocked Pikachu. ) I wake up to more experiments, Irenicus steals my soul and I go back to lalaland.
***
Originally I wasn't intending to take Imoen, but I decided to keep her along for now. I'm thinking I'll pick up Haer-Dalis or Korgan after though. Eventually that position will be replaced by Sarevok regardless.
After that was three levels of dungeons and a few dream sequences, and another couple levels of Spellhold itself. I gave up Wisdom in the nightmare. Given I had 21 Wis on a character that doesn't need it I'm sure I'll survive. I wanted to try Limited Wish, never used that spell much. Has a wisdom requirement for the best choices but only 18.
Most of the fights I just buffed and hasted my main character and beat everything solo. Some of the fights I soloed with different party members just for fun. - Hexxat killed a small tribe of Kobolds. That got a little dicey cause she rolled a 1 on her initial backstab. She wound up clearing most of the room by launching a lightning bolt I thought was single target but... was not. (From Celestial Fury) It bounced around the circular room, hit her twice, but zizzled the kobolds in droves. She survived and regens decently.
- Dorn took on a succession of more and more difficult enemies summoned from a book, although he had a simulacrum of himself doing most of the meatwork. - Edwin dealt with a couple rooms full of trolls by hurling an incendiary cloud then going invisible and laughing. Got to Bodhi sort of by accident while zipping around solo chunking minotaurs. Good thing cause you turn into the Slayer in that fight and can berserk-kill your friends. Instead Bodhi got her ass handed to her and ran away. I rested in a room by myself while the party rested outside. The door firmly shut. I turned into the Slayer again, Viconia shouted at me from outside the door, but luckily the Slayer form faded away without me murderating anyone.
After that I used a machine to get a couple pairs of boots, particularly another pair of Paws of the Cheetah. Boots that basically double your movement rate. Very very useful. My main character already has a pair. Hexxat now has them too so she can keep up with my character while disarming traps and opening locks. Dorn might get em when I want to commit some tandem-murder though. From there it's into more batshit random tests. I played along and got a Cloak of Reflection that protects from Electricity. Hexxat is using it as well. The cloak also states that it reflects the attack. I'm curious how that works and if I can get an endless litany of lightning shooting from her if I get her hitting herself again. The guy administering these tests (thankfully not Irenicus) was surprised I got to the last room, where I got a bone club vs undead that nobody will use. Then was told I passed the tests and could move on. After that I got ported to the lower level of Spellhold and it was suggested I recruit the inmates to help against Irenicus. I ran up to the first door I saw, opened it, it was Irenicus, and I got murderated in one shot and told I was foolish for attacking him solo. So I went about things a bit more carefully. Killed the jailer Lonk. Between me and Dorn he blew up before his spell protections even triggered. Recruited some crazies, and went to face off against Irenicus. Again, between me and Dorn (fully buffed) he nearly blew up too. Instead his plot armour contingency triggered and he ran away leaving me in a room full of murderers and Yoshimo.
Edwin Mass Invisibility'd the rest of the party while I talked to Yoshimo. He finally explained why he betrayed me. Because he's under a geas. Makes much more sense. If his heart is taken to a temple of Ilmater the geas can be lifted from his soul. He and several murderers all attack me. The rest of my party is still invisible hidden in corner. I dump a Skull Trap on myself and blow up most of the murderers around me. Then True Seeing, then get to work finishing them all off while they pop in and out of stealth. They don't last long, Yoshimo gets crit and explodes. I go searching through the pieces for his heart. *** Upstairs I see someone I don't want to talk to yet, Saemon Havarian, who will shortly offer me a trip on his ship I won't refuse. However just behind him are rooms full of treasure so my party (all invisible) sneak past his auto-triggered dialogue, deal with a stone golem, and loot the place. And that's that. Spellhold done. Now back to Brynnlaw then down, down, down.

Glad it seems to be living up to the hype ( looking angrily at you Cyberpunk). Started Elden Ring on Friday and just can't stop playing. The game is awesome, but as every FROM software game,it's not for everyone. I have watched some Elden Rings streams over the weekend. Looks like Open World Dark Souls to me with the same shitty graphics and clunky animations. At the same time it doesn't run very well either apparently, even on quite powerful PCs. It was entertaining to watch at times because of the enemy design and such but I really don't understand why they don't manage to make their games look and run better. They must have made a ton of money by now with all the success they have had in the past and be able to invest in a proper engine and capable programmers. I did some more digging about other FROM Software games and Sekiro looks actually like a great game and a welcome departure from these ever repeating dark fantasy settings and the rather boring combat system they established with the Souls games. It's just a personal opinion since I like fast paced combat and every time I watched Souls games (or gave them a try myelf at a friend's place) they never felt like "that's hard/challenging in a good way like Ninja Gaiden" but more like "this is just tedious, boring and annoying". Sekiro on the other hand seems much more like something I might enjoy. The whole setting is more to my liking but it looks much more fluid and fast paced without the rather clunky animations of the Souls games. Since you seem to have a lot of experience with FROM Software games I'm wondering what's your opinion on Sekiro and especially compared to their other titles.

Since you seem to have a lot of experience with FROM Software games I'm wondering what's your opinion on Sekiro and especially compared to their other titles. They don't care about the graphics, they've never carried. That said, the game is everything ,but ugly.Yes ,the graphic is out of date, but the art and atmosphere are great as usual.Although i do agree that it's a very bad technically. The game runs like a shit indeed a.Most of the players don't play their games for graphics,so they got lazy i guess . I can't agree that DS series have boring gameplay. Fast paced is not = good and clumsy is not =boring.Face paced gameplay can be bad too,if it's not created properly.DS series are more slow for a reason, but i understand that some ppl prefer a faster combat. As for the Sekiro-it's the most skill requiring game of FROM software. It's all about skills.Either you can or you are dead. You can't grind for souls etc. It's a very different game from DS and Bloodborne, but also a great game. I liked Sekiro very much and spent a good amount of time on it.The only con is that the game lacks of variety. No different builds and stuff.Knowing your preference,i highly recommend this game. If you want a challenge ofc. Face paced combat vs challenging enemies. Another masterpiece by FROM IMO.

Started Elden Ring on Friday and just can't stop playing. The game is awesome, but as every FROM software game,it's not for everyone. I'm very excited for it, but must finish DS3 first. Glad it seems to be living up to the hype ( looking angrily at you Cyberpunk). I saw Cowboy's review that he had 85 hours in and still hadn't done everything; so it'll take me like 250 hours to finish it I am still in the first zone(killed only one of the main bosses) and probably 10-15 side.Yes,there are tons of bosses if you explore every corner, although the side bosses are kinda easy. The main guy was hard tho.The game feels like DS+Zelda. As for Cyberpunk,i really think it's a good game if we abstract from the bugs. They just should've postponed it,but they released some broken game. BTW,did you beat sister Friede?
