The one thing I noticed that I didn't mention was the gameplay felt kind of generic - I did not need to put brains into it. It's kinda like zombie mod after a while, I could just point my gun at things that moved. I didn't need to think about it, and I definitely didnt feel like I needed to cooperate. Yeah, I would agree that MEAMP seems to be pushing a more eager, less thoughtful style of play. I think casual players will welcome this. However, if a player gave ME3MP a fair shake (300+ hours, I'd say), then they should be weary of any early praise from that casual group. Huge caveat that we haven't unlocked enough to see if there is more nuance and depth. Lots of new PUGs can skew the experience as well. At best I'll say that it's serviceable enough to throw a couple dozen hours at to see if it just takes a little longer to get the hook.

Is it the same dynamic as it was in AAIMP where you have to hold down one of the bumpers to run it on or off? You click down on the left joystick and hold it to run. OR - unless this was removed for some bizarro reason - you should see an option in one of the menus (Gameplay?) to make run "always on" instead of a toggle. That was literally the first thing I did when my grubby little paws got to poke at it before. I think you can just click and run, you don't need to hold it.

I feel that the higher difficulties will require a much more coordinated effort, as for the most part, classes lack the ability to self detonate their own power combos. ME3MP after a while was really just curbstomping gold/plat with your friends. Power management was of a greater concern, the AI seemed way better, not just requiring us to shoot to force a dodge, the power combo, the objectives seemed better(also a medal for playing the objective).

Okay so last night there were no problems. Today during afternoon hours in USA there were several.
-I hosted a match, as soon as it loaded I froze. Other players could move around fine though. I had to Ctrl+Alt+Delete to get out. When I did that, XCPTNL became the new host, and when that happened, HE froze. So then HE had to leave. Even worse, he lost his equip when the migration happened, it replaced his equip with stock from his inventory, then when he had to quit out, he lost THAT equip too, so he lost two of everything.
-He tried hosting one, he froze. I could move around, I assume one of the pugs got host and froze, I left it.
-I hosted again. Everyone was lagging badly, even me, and I was the host. It's starting to look like it may have DAI:MP lag/rubberbanding issues, and this isn't even live to the masses yet, just early access. Also at least two of us lost all ingame sound during that match. There was a funny rant from a pug who was raging about how crappy the lag was (the only thing we COULD hear), and when I finally chimed in to tell him I was lagging as the host, he was shocked that we could all hear him and apologized profusely to us, lol. He didn't realize the mic is always on by default.
-But hey, we cancelled the tech test, because it wasn't needed.
Definitely gonna be waiting to see how the launch goes before actually purchasing this (or not).

Definitely gonna be waiting to see how the launch goes before actually purchasing this (or not). Don't worry guys. We have a friend in Melo. He is get all this fixt. "Sorry, we won't have a multiplayer technical test " producer Fernando Melo said on Twitter. "I know many were looking forward to it (as were we). Long story but [it is the] right decision for how close we are to going live."
According to Melo, the game has seen 'extensive' testing so far.
"[Mass Effect: Andromeda multiplayer] has had the most extensive user testing we've ever done," continued Melo, referring to the previous closed alpha for Andromeda that was on PS4 and Xbox One.
Looking to clear up any worries the cancellation could bring, Melo detailed that the multiplayer is "very alive" and "awesome." It was also confirmed that multiplayer and the game will be available on EA and Origin Access ahead of launch.
Meanwhile, we'll get some more MP info out - let's get the ball rolling... see you all soon in Andromeda! 4/4 pic.twitter.com/FuhGpuat9f — Fernando Melo ( @ DiscoBabaloo)

I agree on preferring to wait until after launch day to purchase Andromeda (for several reasons), but I have been already suckered into pre-ordering it with several of my closest gaming buds. Oh well, if worse comes to worse, we can at least keep ourselves occupied on Ghost Recon: Wildlands while we wait for patches and fixes.

My impressions on MP: it was fun A few quirks, but the combat, enemies, and maps are overall enjoyable.

If one buys mea for xbone now, is it then possible to play it already from today? Because of the early acces. Just curious. And no I'm not gonna buy it, I've already preordered it for PS4.

Haven't played any actual matches yet but what I did notice going over some of the stats is that skills seem to be more...interactive. Like the assault turret priming for combos, passives affecting dodge and revive damage reduction, debuffing enemies (less damage done, more elemental damage tkane), Shockwave becoming a primer at the last evolution etc.
I've only gone over three kits so far and already the skills feel way more engaging and fun, encouraging experimentation.
So, first impression without playing a match: Pretty good actually.
edit: And Lance can use shield energy instead of cooldown...the possibilities!

I'm really unimpressed. I was kind of excited to play a new mass effect mp like back on the days of the old BSN. But I just got heavy negative vibes from this game. The main one is the UI is just terrible, and the player cues are sorely lacking. I can't tell by audio anyone is being revived, I can't tell it's an objective from the music, it's hard to tell what's going on with the billions of particle effects (it's like zombie mod all the time), and the menu system is very unintuitive - and that's on a controller. The gameplay HUD is incredibly irritating. Everything is way too small, and your friend indicators override objective indicators. In ME3 you only had downed and objective point targets, which was simple but very effective. The gameplay was so so. It felt very generic to me - it didn't have the iconic Cerberus enemies screaming - in fact, at no point do I recall enemies screaming at all. There is no emotion in the announcers voice. The character selection screen... Ooooohhhh boy. I don't know what they were thinking but hot damn is that a mess. Nothing seems categorized and seeing 30 humans with helmets on does nothing to help me pick a character fast. The biggest issue I think is they tried to merge both screens of the ME3MP lobby into one, and there's just way too many buttons. On ME3 there was like 5 buttons. On this one there is like... 8 or 9, and then the customizer has lots of unlabeled ones that were very easy to miss. Another mechanic - the match countdown timer. A cue to say someone is ready and waiting on you? The blinking effect. Worked great in me3, you could tell easy. In Andromeda it seems that it's just red text in a red scrolling background. It's also at the bottom of the screen - if you look at how web pages are read, it's top to bottom left to right. I don't look at the bottom for important info like the match timer. There's just a lot of small gameplay mechanics that don't seem to be here that you never noticed in me3, but work great together. I had some serious framerate issues - but instead of low fps, the game took the time to render each one - as host - which effectively slowed down game time. Extraction is 2 minutes, but for me it took over 3. It also caused audio issues, and even in host I had enemy rubber banding. Sad to say I won't be picking this game up. Not until it gets a significant price slash. I don't have any interest in SP, the trailers have voice actors I really don't like. I kind of felt this was coming though... I don't know what enemy has the gold shield that can sync kill but that is some serious bullshit. It's far worse than magnet hands - Out of 6 games against that enemy not once did anyone do any damage to the guy to break the victim free. After all the backlash they got about sync kills I can't believe they have an enemy that is essentially invincible while sync killing. It's unbelievably stupid. One enemy killed our entire team over the course of two minutes. Oh and voice detection on PC is on by default. Don't know why that's a feature, because I really didn't like listening to user speaker echo cause they didnt the change their settings. I eventually got so pissed at all these things I gave up and played some ME3 mods. On a menu that has text lined up and not curved. I am not a mass effect fanboi that is like OMG NEW GSMES!!! I took ME3 apart like Humpty Dumpty and I don't get how some of the basic mechanics are missing. I do appreciate not having to sit through 12 loading screens to join a lobby. The jetpack is an interesting concept but I don't think it is used to it's fullest potential as it mainly consists of standing on rooftops now. while i'm still getting the game I have to agree with all of this. also another complaint. I don't like how the maps are so freaking cramped. I don't think its just because of the increased mobility either because I almost never use the jetpack. There's no "open" areas of the maps, its all tight corridors which i feel like defeats the entire purpose of having increased mobility. it feels like Mass Effect got Call of Duty'd just like Battlefield and Battlefront did. Also i don't like how all the humans have no helmets, if only because most of the humans look ass ugly. Human female Sentinel and human female infiltrator and human male engineer were the only ones I felt looked halfway decent. i know ME3's multiplayer started out barebones too but i don't really have the desire to actually use any of the Andromeda MP characters. None of them are appealing at all.

My first impression is pretty good. Controls are a bit clunky and might require getting used to. I played human soldier with falcon, kroguard, and huntress on bronze off host. Kroguard was actually charging in most cases. But on huntress, neither throw nor lance were hitting reliably, at least I did not notice any damage, maybe the enemies were immune or it was just lag. And the starting guns are horrible of course. And there is no easy mode reload canceling. I did not crash, and there were no host migrations, and game was running on medium setting at steady 60 fps with my GTX 760.
One game was very laggy though, with DAIMP kind of lag. Cannot tell the ping as ME3 pinger utility did not work. Probably, some other ports are used by MEA.

Yep, that's my caveat I mentioned. A couple of hours of lower difficulties does not a fair sample make. I still find the few hours I played to be a bit of a let down, but I fully understand that I haven't given the game it's due.

I still have around 2:45h left of early access but here are my impressions on the multiplayer so far. I'll start with the good ones - sadly because it's a very short list: - The game has native 21:9 support and so far it worked pretty well
- The game has much more options regarding video and gameplay settings than previous titles
- I had constant 60fps at my 3440x1440 ultrawide resolution with all settings on Ultra (although I got rid of crap like film grain and such) on a single GTX 1080
- Playing a Vanguard and charging out of a midair hover into an enemy is quite a lot of fun. At least on Bronze, doubtful that you can do this on Gold without being blown out of the sky
- You get a small amount of credits no matter if you survive or not. If you wipe in Wave 2 before the W3 objective you still get some credits
But now comes the bad stuff: - I had the game sound cut out 2 or 3 times without any reason (microphones were still active though)
- The game completely froze earlier today and I had to kill the process via task manager. I did not only lose the XP booster equipped for that mission but also the one I had in my inventory
- The game completely crashed to desktop 2 times
- I wanted to buy a power reset box and when I did the store froze and when it worked again the game had not just bought 1 reset pack for 15 mission funds but instead spent ALL my mission funds (45 at the time) for 3 power resets
- The beloved server disconnect in the middle of the game occured 2 times
- When I accessed the options to change keybindings while I was in a lobby it did not work properly and as soon as I clicked on an action it automatically put the "1" in it for a key... I had to completely restart the whole game (not just leave the lobby) to be able to change keybindings
- Muting players often didn't work - the game switched to an option to unmute them as if they were muted but they actually were not
- Resetting powers does not completely reset everything: you still have 1 point invested in every skill your kit starts with. I wanted to reset powers to spec out of Shockwave on my Vanuard but that did not work. So not only did I blew all my mission funds due to a store bug but it also turned out to be completely useless to even use this stuff once
- Some enemies can grab you and then you have to tap a button to break free. Unfortunately the game just always tells me to "tap to break free" but not which button and I tried several (melee being the most obvious choice) but none of them worked...
- I have my third skill bound to "Mousewheel Up" but in the HUD it says "Mousewheel Down" - also: this obviously takes up a lot of space on screen and I wish I could turn this off. I know my keybindings, no need to show them all in the HUD, especially if their names are this long and they overlap each other
- The HUD itself is not very well designed. It actually sucks in my opinion. I have a hard time seeing the individual cooldowns around the crosshair, the kill info on the left side is not well placed and the overall design is just a big step back compared to ME3MP in my opinion
- Apparently there is no heavy melee... just melee. I was never that much into melee chars in ME3MP but still... this sucks, especially for Krogans from what I have seen so far
- As strange as this might sound: the omnibutton in ME3MP was not THAT bad. It sure was bad because it did too many things, but not that bad overall. Now we have everything separated and it's just too much I think. It would be ok to put 2 minor actions (minor in MP at least) together in my opinion... actions like moving over cover which is context sensitive along with Use/Interaction for example. But after all the complaints about the omnibutton I won't hold this against Bioware. But it would be nice to have a choice.
- The animations... especially running. OMFG. I play this badass kit with a jetpack and stuff, yet when I'm running I feel like he might be at the Paralympics (no disrespect there towards those amazing athletes btw)... seriously it looks and feels so bad I often wonder if one leg is like 20cm shorter than the other or something. Absolutely horrible and weird.
- Today I played with SalMasRac or better yet we tried. First we had game freezes and then we had really bad lag... even the host (SalMasRac) was lagging as he mentioned in his post earlier and the game hasn't even launched yet and already has problems during peak times it seems.
- The whole menu system is so bad... I don't even know where to begin. MGamerz covered a lot of it already. The menus are not intuitive at all and I still have to look carefully and often search for the right tab or button to press. They are just super complicated and a big mess and whoever designed that shit should be tossed out of the nearest airlock. Seriously: WTF?
- The character selection screen is right there with the shitty menus: you have all these kits with no indication of who is who, no separation by classes or anything. Instead they are listed from common to ultra rare. The one thing we could have actually used is some kind of "favorites pool" where we can toss in our own favorite kits for faster access. Instead we get this crap which is much worse than what we have in ME3MP. And on the topic of rarity for kits: why would you even do common, uncommon, rare and ultrarare if not for the sole purpose of making more money with microtransactions... just by the description of these kits and their powers you can see the more rare ones might have an advantage over the other kits. MEMP- Imbalance 2.0 right from the start. Congratulations Bioware, here's your award for assholes of the year for clearly making this more about microtransactions than ever before, especially with the whole "you need to get every character x times to not only unlock customization options but to get additional skill points" - how about actually giving us real customization options like changing faces, armour and all that instead of pulling shit like this. Hell, people even like to spend more money in microtransactions for stuff like this in F2P games than for anything else (just look at TF2 for example but also Warframe and such). I will never buy a pack for real money, I might spend a few bucks however for some super stylish armor or weapon skin or something.
- Overall the audio and visual feedback feels not that good. Not talking about skills and explosions and stuff here but things like the "who is ready for the match to begin" or "waiting for you" or "teammate down" or "do this or that objective"... ME3MP did a MUCH better job. It was simple yet very good - either visually and/or from an audio point of view from countdowns in the lobby to dramatic music during objective wave. MEAMP is just one big mess in that department in my opinion.
- Another really really bad thing in terms of how they did things: you can see the stats of a skill in the overview of that particular skill. But when you want to spend some points it doesn't actually show you how it affects stats. Say you have to decide whether you want to pick evolution 4a which is increased radius or 4b which is increased damage. You can see the percentage how much bigger the radius will be (for example 30%) or how much more damage that power will deal (for example 40%) but you don't see the base stat and how it changes. So basically you have to go back one step, see how big the radius or damage is right now, then go back into the detailed view and figure it out for yourself. And I guess this isn't even correct because in the overview it already shows you the number that has been affected by the previous 3 evolutions of that skill and I doubt you get 30 or 40% on top of that. Seriously... this was much better in ME3 and in MEAMP it's just a big shitty mess.
- On the topic of usability: after starting the game you get a title screen and have to press space to continue. Why space and not just any key. In ME3 it was any key... is that so hard to do. Yes, I know, this might seem like nitpicking but it's the total sum of all these things that make it so bad and from a game 5 years after the last one I expect significant steps forwards or at least the same kind of usability - not going 3 steps back, sawing off a leg and sitting down in a wheelchair but that's exactly what it feels like. The same problem when you want to exit (this was bad in ME3 as well and decided to do it again): you click "Exit" in MP and then you get to the title screen... so you then have to press "Space" to get to the menu so that you can "Exit" the game and close it. Dafuq? Who designs shit like this and why hasn't he/she been tossed out of... oh, I mentioned that already. Doesn't matter: Toss that moron out of the nearest airlock please!" They probably won't do it if operating the airlock is as complicated as navigating through the MEA menus...
- The gameplay can be fun and I don't want to judge too harshly now because we play low level kits with shitty weapons and all and there is room for improvement, BUT: gameplay kinda feels generic and also very chaotic. Jetpacks can be fun but I get the feeling they build the levels as a tech demo for jetpacks as if it was the invention of the century. So using them often feels forced and necessary as opposed to being just an additional option. This is especially true on Firebase Sandstorm in my opinion. So overall I actually like the ME3MP map design much more and I think they overdid it with the verticality. It's also way more complicated at times to actually find the enemies because they are scattered all over the place and the fact that you now have a kind of radar to find enemies and objectives makes you wonder if they build all this and then were like "shit, this is too much.... are we gonna change the maps? nah, just give them a radar, everything else is too much work"
- Overall I find the enemy factions rather lackluster. Remnants are kind of like a cheaper version of the Geth (yes, that actually is possible, who'd have thought) - not in terms of cheese and cheats and stunlock but just how they look and behave. They are no fun in my opinion. Kett are less fun than Reapers or Collectors so far and Outlaws are the only ones so far that are kind of interesting, but I still miss Cerberus or the Bloodpack and Blue Suns from ME2.
- The base cooldowns are pretty long. Of course this might change with higher levels, passive bonuses, gear and such... but 10s cooldown for Throw for example? Not fun at all - which is why it's much harder to start in MEA than in ME3 where you could level up fast and play with a power-oriented class without having superduper weapons and equipment. Not the case in MEA so far which is sad because I would have liked to test a higher difficulty as well during the 10h trial period
- Unlocking everything will probably take much longer than in ME3 I think
- ApexHQ which will basically be some kind of N7HQ will be available on iphone and Android devices only. Why the fuck would I ever want to use this solely on my mobile device? Make a website - it's not like they can't be optimized for mobile devices nowadays but at least you can put in links and use it on you computer as well. The moron who thought about this should be... damn I think the airlock is blocked by now.
I'm sure I forgot some things but I think this more than enough for now. Throw in the fact that SP seems to be not that good either in terms of animations and also dialogue and story (at least in the beginning) according to this article at Rock Paper Shotgun I have come to the conclusion that I most likely won't be buying this game. Sad but true. At least not right away and not for its full price. So much wasted opportunities there which is very sad because this could have turned out much better than it actually is right now. Like I said in another thread: EA should not have given the engine DICE developed to Bioware but instead give the IP Bioware created to DICE and have them make a nice multiplayer coop game without SP. Shepard is gone, long live MEMP... And by the way: I'm not comparing vanilla MEAMP to the ME3MP we have today but to the ME3MP we had in the beginning. And it was awesome back then, the demo got me hyped and I played the crap out of ME3MP when the full game launched (especially after the disappointing SP ending). Oh and also: FUCK YOU BIOWARE for not doing a proper beta and tech tests on all platforms (or any) - the game is clearly not very well tested internally like you claim and you should be ashamed of yourself!

-But hey, we cancelled the tech test, because it wasn't needed.I still have around 2:45h left of early access but here are my impressions on the multiplayer so far.
The one thing I noticed that I didn't mention was the gameplay felt kind of generic - I did not need to put brains into it. It's kinda like zombie mod after a while, I could just point my gun at things that moved. I didn't need to think about it, and I definitely didnt feel like I needed to cooperate. this is exactly what i was talking about! thank you! there is no Cooperation in the Cooperative Multiplayer! people please wake up, this IS a thing that must be fixed ASAP im asking kindly it must be as fun, interesting, challenging and addictive as ME3MP was, not some generic zombie horde mode or shoot em up style, this is Mass Effect, ok?

... I don't like how the maps are so freaking cramped. I don't think its just because of the increased mobility either because I almost never use the jetpack. There's no "open" areas of the maps, its all tight corridors which i feel like defeats the entire purpose of having increased mobility. it feels like Mass Effect got Call of Duty'd just like Battlefield and Battlefront did. .... I did not get this impression. IMO, maps are fairly large, smaller than Giant but larger than Glacier, at least those I tried. I must admit that I turned FOW slider almost to the maximum. Jumping feels sort of useless. I'm sure when people get adapted to it, it will find its uses. But there is no cover on the rooftops, so there is no point in staying there and enemies can spawn right on top of you. I absolutely did not get any CoD feeling, maybe a bit of BF. I did get a lot of Overwatch-like associations. Although it felt significantly different.

Touched on a few points I missed, but yes I agree with just about all of them.

So in a nutshell, is the multiplayer in this game enjoyable enough on a gameplay basis? Does it make you want to continue playing through it?
