Who came up with this? Was it Randy?
In all seriousness, like WTF? My first major complaint with Andromeda. How can you reload if you make a mistake?

Can you just restart the mission? I personally only save at the start of a mission. At least I learn that way. I remember ME3 use to save after major conflict, does MEA do the same?

If this is true then this will really tick me off royally. This is the kind of crap that makes me degrade the game an entire tier. When games start to do 'creative' things with their save systems it just drives me right up the frickin wall... At least its only the priority missions *sigh*.

This is definitely my major gripe right now (just started Chapter 2).

Imagine playing Champions of the Just, Here Lies The Abyss, or What Pride Had Wrought with no manual saves.
Every time we screw up, we have to start from the beginning. Every boss fight we just barely won, right back at the start.
Such bullcrap and COMPLETELY WITHOUT REASON.

This was the biggest thing I had against the game besides the lack of options in the CC.

It honestly boggles the mind that someone at Bioware thought that this was an "improvement". Its the very in thing to do now. More and more games have been doing 'clever' things with its save systems.

I genuinely want to know the logic behind this.
And no, Bioware trying to fuck with us is not a valid answer.

Really? That doesn't sound right... Is there a quick save button you can use? Or does it simply refuse to save? Maybe there were enemies nearby? That just sounds like a very poor and useless choice to make on the side of the developers...

What a joke but at least it is only the main missions I was going to go nuts. I can't believe the amount of saves I did in past games I saved after ever battle and almost every loot I collected.

TO CLARIFY - The game auto-saves a lot on priority missions (critical path) You just do not have the ability to manually do it.

Its the very in thing to do now. More and more games have been doing 'clever' things with its save systems. Yes, it seems that bioware considers taking away player freedoms to be very "in". It also boggles the mind that some can describe something like this as "clever". All game companies usually do is follow trends when it comes to things like design or what not. And right now more and more games, and successful games (GTA, Resident Evil, BioShock, Red Dead), seem to be doing these kinds of things and doing...interesting things with a save system. Kind of unfortanate that BioWare decided to follow this pariticular trend...but all us poor gamers have to do is wait until the storm passes and common sense is returned.

I genuinely want to know the logic behind this. And no, Bioware trying to fuck with us is not a valid answer. Only thing I can think of is BioWare does not want people 'gaming the system' saving the game and reloading just to avoid making all the 'wrong' decisions in the trees. Which is silly but its the best I've got.

No, the save menu is greyed out and the caption says "Manual saving is not allowed on priority missions" or something along those lines. Hopefully the checkpoints are generous.

That just sounds like a very poor and useless choice to make on the side of the developers... You definitely cannot quick save during story missions it seems (or manual save). You can save the game while on the ship / station or just exploring.. but it seems if you're doing a main plot mission you are at the whims of auto save. You definitely can't save during the long 30+ minute tutorial planet at any point or time (I repeatedly tried dozens of times at different locations, it is always greyed out). If you want to re-do a dialogue choice for the first hour of the game you're literally going to have to restart from the goddamn beginning and lose 30 minutes to an hour.
